    I don't know if this is of any relevance. But I'm from a small town in Chile named Quintero, an hour and a half from Valparaiso's port. There is a place here called "La cueva del pirata" meaning the pirate's cave, that it is said to hold a treasure hidden by Drake himself. Due to the earthquakes in the area, the intricate caves beneath Quintero are all unnaccesible.

      How do you think francis drake went to the americas? taking portuguese ships and portuguese captains...
      for example santa Maria was renamed as MARYGOLD and served as a logistic and discover ship, with the portuguese capitain Nuno da Silva. Fracis drake didnt discovered anything, or went anywhere , portuguese did and showed him the way.. beause he promised the free Lisbon from the spanish, and he tried ot later...
      Chinese copied the portuguese ships, etc...

    I recently found out that I have a 12th great grand uncle Captain John Marchant that served with Sir Francis Drake from the 1580s onwards and they apparently had a ton of adventures together. He died in 1595 as well after the failed attempt in Puerto Rico, where they went to Panama at a place called Nombre De Dios to try and regroup and possibly get Peruvian gold. They attempted to raid the Spanish Fort there but Captain Marchant was killed leading the charge. Drake himself died a few weeks later of the dysentary.

Hawkins died in a few days and was buried in the area, Drake died 2 weeks later after fleeing the battle, which they lost. Drake died from the wounds but they denied that and said he died after the battle "from a disease" (Part of The Spanish Black Legend Strategy to put down Spain). Puerto Ricans killed both with good cannonfire.. San Juan was never captured militarily. They have two huge forts with great cannonfire. Spain sold it to USA for 15 million in 1898.

    • @edwardneilloftheclanmacnei7057
      @edwardneilloftheclanmacnei7057 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you know your history about Scottish pirate's you would know that during the same time period as Sir Francis Drake that there were many Scottish pirate's in the outer Hebrides who looted more ship's then Sir Francis Drake did for survival. If sir Francis Drake did sail back in the Atlantic ocean and went past the isle of Barra to get back to England, my clan would have easily plundered the golden hinde and decorated there castle with all the loot. After the death of Queen Mary queen of the Scots my clan started plundering Queen Elizabeth the first ship's in revenge which pissed off old Queen Elizabeth as she put a bounty on Ruari the Turbulent.
      Ruari the Turbulent enjoyed being a notorious pirate he made himself king of his own country. And don't forget back in those day's the law's of mainland Scotland didn't apply to the Scottish isles until later on in the future. Ruari the Turbulent and the McNeill clan were known as the last of the Vikings for not only did they raided on the sea but also on land as well. Ruari the Turbulent was a intelligent man and if you know what the Scots had as weapons in the 16th century you will know that they can easily beat there enemies in a melee combat

    • @edwardneilloftheclanmacnei7057
      @edwardneilloftheclanmacnei7057 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a man who is more loyal to his clan, I prefer to stick with my clan then teaming up with someone else who I don't know and don't trust. Hence why my tactics will be secret and only be told when ever I have my own family as a clan is more like a wolf pack then being with other pirate's. Hence why Ruari the Turbulent is my number one favorite pirate who have lived, not only because he was the alpha male of the clan but he was also the most intelligent pirate, for his tactics wasn't like other pirate's going in blazing with guns and cannons which is why he was successful and died peacefully in his own bed.

    • @edwardneilloftheclanmacnei7057
      @edwardneilloftheclanmacnei7057 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, tell me this. If you were a modern day pirate, what type of ship would you use and how would you capture a navy ship which people think will be hard now day's, which I say differently.

Why England and France and everybody else was seeking for another water route? Somebody was there first and set colony/parish right of waterway and collect fees? 'pensive fees.

    Sir Admiral John Hawkins is my relative on my mother's lineage.
    The name followed all the way up to my grandmother ( mother's side). Her name was Hawkins until she married.
    He was a cruel bloodthirsty person that was in service for The Crown.
    He also actually stole slaves from Spanish ships and turned around and sold them.

    • @1viridis
      @1viridis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, while Drake had no stomach for slave trading and quickly abandoned it for piracy, Hawkins continued on heartlessly as a slave trader. But besides Drake's bold pre-emptive attack on Spanish ship building in the Bay of Cadiz, Hawkins was arguably more instrumental than Drake in the later defeat of the Spanish Armada. So bad a person as he was, without Hawkins we might all be speaking Spanish instead of English today.

      The other Admiral killed on that 1595 San Juan battle was admiral Hawkins, that one was dumped/buried in front of San Juan due his body was shreder by cannon fire from El Morro Fortress 70 canyons. Failed to win, Drake was wonded and fled to Panama smaller fortress to attack., Failed again. Became depressed and died..
