We reached 10.000 views in less than 24 hours! That's a huge achievement for my channel! It means there's definitely a lot of interest in the format (I was a bit scared it wouldn't do well). Me and Tommi will definitely play it again soon!
After seeing the overwhelming success of this video in just the first 16 hours we'll definitely play it more. We both love to play the format, if viewers love it too that's perfect!
Fantastic decks showcasing the best constructed format Magic has to offer. Loved to see your innovations to the Elves deck. Looking forward to see more!
a bit of a technicallity but at 20:35 IIRC you chose the creature type on resolution so Mengu can call Elves after all the squirrles died. not that it matters terribly much in that situation.
Best format, from the golden era of mtg, big tournaments, even when they were broadcast on ESPN. Many original decks. Just hope Hasbro doesn't stick his nose in
thank you for making high-quality premodern content, it really is the best format in magic right now. i'm looking forward to playing an 8-round premodern event at lobstercon later this year!
@@MengusWorkshop it will be september 20 in boston. last year they had 186 players for the north american premodern championship on day 1 and 196 players for the old school main event on day 2.
Premodern is soooo beautiful! I am italian and i started play mtg with Mirrodin in the modern era, but i remember very well the feeling of older cards and the more expert players who play the rock, white weenie, psychoatog and survival madness! I started play premodern three months ago and now it is the only mtg format i play. mtg is not the same anymore for me...
Fresh to see Survival Elves without the red splash for Anger :D the fact that you can keep both decks sleeved at the same time with Goblins is V E R Y important!
Premodern is the best format! Thanks Mengu for showing it! We want more Premodern content soon. Greetings from Argentina, where there are many of us who play this beautiful format!
Amazing gameplay, so cool to see cards from this era in a unique format with its own identity. Seeing this matchup reminded me of the original Elves v. Goblins duel deck precon, I was wondering if Ambush Commander is still playable in the Elf deck but it would be TERRIBLE against Goblin Sharpshooter lol. Keep making awesome content like this Mengu!
more premodern content! Also Tom missed a lot of dmg g1 by not attacking with piledriver + double mogg fanatic, then sacrificing both fanatics after declaring attackers but before blockers! Cheers Mengu 😎 EDIT: Absolutely sick you use real premodern cards only!
È meraviglioso. Non voglio troppo parlare di cosa è diventato magic oggi, ma io sento che premodern è l'unico formato che ha davvero il cuore di magic dentro di se
Awesome content. I miss those time. I started MtG when Tempest was rotating out of T2. Just one question - how come you play with cards worth of 1000s of $ and film it using - what it seems - a very cheap camera?
So excited for the formats you have been going through on this channel. Love the decks in this video as well. Those old cards are quite pleasing to look at.
I kinda hope that thing playing field gets rotated 45. Like how coverage has it. It's harder to pay attention when it set up this way. Looking at both fields by the side seems way better.
Awesome video, and I hope to see more from you guys. Also, I wish you can do paper gameplay of decks featured in the manga “Destroy All of Humanity. It Can’t Be Regenerated.” Give or take a few banned cards, all of the decks featured in there can be played in Premodern. :)
It's so fun to what thise matches, hope you keep doing the series! If you're accepting suggestions: UG madness, WG threshold (haha), and Bx reanimator. Keep casting this amazing work.
Elves were my first tribal deck. :) I will say, I miss the days of mana burn. Seeing players being able to leave floating mana without penalty will never not be weird to me!
Reminds me of how magic was when I first started playing as a little kid after my friend found all his dads old magic cards in his closet. All looked like these was for the most part and we didn’t even know the rules right or how to make a deck but it was the best
I love to see pre-modern the decks are so pretty 😍. Would you ever do content of competitive Singleton formats? Canadian, European, or Australian Highlander
Second question at 23:15 Menfi says that of he pings the sharpshooter with Masticore, Tommy can use the siege gang to untap the sharpshooter. Can someone help me understand this? Sorry for the many questions but i am and old guy back at mtg after 25 years long hiatus and i am so rusty....
Would Mengucci letting the masticore die and getting a Caller of the Claw +2 be a good option? The squee keeps coming back to grab more masticores with survival anyway, and a pile of 2/2s doesn't seem awful. Also decks to see would be some variant of Madness!
Awesome video! Sorry for writing in an old one. (Knew the channel a couple of days ago and watching all of its content). Could someone explain me the standoff between Masticore and goblin Sharpshooter at 22:55? Don't understand exactly what's happening. Goblin Sharpshooter is a huge threat and Mengu is letting it live? And then, finally when Tom untapped it.... Why didn't he keep on shooting stuff? It also untaps itself. He could have killed also both llanowar elves, and the ringleader would have finished untapped. I feel like the Goblin Sharpshooter threat was extremely overlooked, and then it kind of worked, because that threat wasn't used. Both of them made a mistake? Im pretty sure I am missing something huge, and will feel really dumb when someone explains me. But anyway... Any care to explain me whats happening here?
Always a fan of your content mengu Didnt know premodern was a format thought it was just called legacy or vintage XD Looking forward to what other paper formats your gonna bring to light Really do enjoy the cards in hand and other nice edits you guys do in the video the QOL is top tier some other magic gameplay channels could def pickup on these QOLs keep it up
quality of life (showing the cards in hand with name, the cards on top that are a known quantity, etc) just visual upgrades for the viewers enjoyment@@MengusWorkshop
Quality of Life (usually used to signify that a user experience is streamlined, they were referring to the cardmarket-style cards-in-hands and so on). appreciate this channel! @@MengusWorkshop
@@HarmonicSliver Although the morph itself is a special action, the buff comes from a triggered ability, which can be responded to. If tribal forcemage had a continuous effect like a lord, then the pyrokinesis wouldn't work, but it does in this case!
Make a pre-modern series. Bring back white weenie vs mono black. Bring back bolt the bird, dark ritual and hypnotic specter , burn decks, millings decks.

One of us, one of us!
Consider play it in best of 5, Mengu. It's kinda better to show us both play/draw perspective. Can't wait to see more!
You may wanna throw a correction in the vid for terms of legal sets in the format. PreModern starts with 4th edition not Ice Age.
Let's play the other historic matchup: Landstill vs Sligh!
Some psychatog :3
More Premodern, please. This format is underrepresented and needs more love.
Honestly premodern is the best format in the game! Thanks for supporting it, hope you continue to do so :)!
Agreed!
I love the variety and the low power level.
After seeing the overwhelming success of this video in just the first 16 hours we'll definitely play it more. We both love to play the format, if viewers love it too that's perfect!
Bring more pre-modern decks with a twist, white weenie vs mono black. Bring back bolts , birds and hypnotic specter
such a nostalgic format, too, seeing old card frames and neat, janky interactions.
Fantastic decks showcasing the best constructed format Magic has to offer. Loved to see your innovations to the Elves deck. Looking forward to see more!
Thanks!
a bit of a technicallity but at 20:35 IIRC you chose the creature type on resolution so Mengu can call Elves after all the squirrles died.
not that it matters terribly much in that situation.
You have to attack first, and then sac fanatics. That way you have a bigger piledriver. 5:51
Also, if I'm not mistaken, right at the end of that turn, he should have summoned two bear tokens instead of one
Man this takes me back. My first PTQ T8 was with RB goblins in Extended with Piledriver and Ringleader.
Best format, from the golden era of mtg, big tournaments, even when they were broadcast on ESPN. Many original decks. Just hope Hasbro doesn't stick his nose in
Hasbro can't ruin premodern because the format doesn't care about new cards.
Hasbro can ruin mtg all they want but they can’t take away fan made formats 😊
Cool to see you supporting the format, looking forward to more gameplay especially if there's Dreadnaughts.
Would love to see more premodern! I don't know the top decks at all but it reminds me of the kind of magic i grew up playing

Wow, Premodern! Game two was a wild one, really fun to watch. Thanks again for the Premodern videos and looking forward to more!

This was a great watch. Would love to see more Premodern or Legacy!
Excellent content - the editing is fantastic! G2 was pretty cool. All in all, a great watch. As for what to play next, dreadnought would be sweet!

Just wanted to compliment the “old border” treatment on the display for cards in hand. Really fun lol
All cards printed today have the old border, which is the black part. The part that encloses and separates the art and text boxes is the frame.
Pauper and Premodern, now this is some real Magic content... plus it's Mengu. Zero downsides.
I've never thought about using survival to thin like that. awesome!!!
It's so fun to what thise matches, hope you keep doing the series! If you're accepting suggestions: UG madness, WG threshold (haha), and Bx reanimator. Keep casting this amazing work.
A madness video just came out!
I hope you'll come to Lobstercon this year to play some Premodern! I live nearby and you're welcome to stay at my apartment.
I can’t wait for LobsterCon!
Just the BEST format. Amazing content, Mengu!
Next time The Rock, maybe..? :D
Premodern? Thats a like and a sub. Good stuff man, love the content
Another one coming soon
Hope to watch more premodern content!! Just entering to the format to play some Memory Lapse and Counterspell

I'd love to see some more premodern with some type of control deck
Not knowing the format, I was surprised seeing Squee show up in the elves deck. And then it all made sense!
Great content :D I'd love to see Astral Slide, Reanimator, or some of the wild infinite combo decks from the era.
Would love to see more premodern!!! Also more pauper is always nice

May I ask a noobie question? Why at 21:57 Tommy did non use the sharpshooter against the 2 lanowar and quirion ranger too? Thank you
Premodern and in paper. Nice! Production was great too.
awesome introduction to pre-modern for me. really fun games.
Beautiful decks Mengu. Great way to show off the format here.
Yeah! I'll bring my Premodern deck to Cardmarket Channel too!
A great format! Thanks for the video 🙌
Yes, I did indeed enjoy it Mengu!

Imagine a world where a 3/3 body is all you need to stall a mono red deck. Great to see Call of the Herd in its natural habitat!
Awesome seeing a new format!
Premodern is such a great format
All the old border cards I was looking for! 😍
The border is the black part. The part which separates the art and text box is the frame.

Nice, premodern is awesome! More premodern for the people!!!❤
Love this format! The only problem I see if reserved list cards eventually pricing out players just like with legacy/vintage.
Nice video and nice anti Goblins tech! Only still missing the correct tokens for your Elves deck 😊
Finally some premodern, thats awsome Maestro! And i also love to play a lot of Elves. Lets see how you gonna do vs the gobous.
Game 2 was absolutely amazing. I would love to see UW familiars in pauper. Its my favorite deck of all time
Premodern!!🎉🎉
I want to see your version of Brian Selden’s Recurring Survival deck.

This format is so nostalgic
Lots of love for premodern ❤
20:35: I was told that morph doesn‘t use the stack. So you can‘t respond to it, right? Please explain the sequence.
Yeah you kill it before block
@@MengusWorkshop You don‘t got my point. If you can‘t respond to morphing, the tokens are immediately 3/3. So Pyrokinesis does not work as planned.

Great game! I would have played as many Callers of the Claw as possible
Wanna to see premodern again, maybe standstill or dead guy ale
Elves vs Goblins was an excellent Duel Deck product!
Siiiiiiii Tommi and Goblin winning sound amazing!! ❤❤❤ But Mengu you forgot the beautiful goblin tokens 😢
