Building a community in any aspect of life is pretty awesome, trying to make new friends in your 30s is really hard. People either flake or they just say that they're interested but they're really not. The local game stores are fun to play at even if you don't necessarily have your own community, it would just be nice to have a solid group of people to play with again. Actual socialization and getting people together just seems a lot more difficult after covid, and even before that it was difficult I've been trying to make new consistent friends for a long time. Most of my friends that I grew up with either have kids and or are in relationships, I don't have any kids and I've been single for over 10 years. All in all life is pretty good though I just miss actual socialization hanging out, I just started playing magic a year ago and I like the social aspect of it. Anyways great videos usual Jake I really appreciate these, I still watch beginner videos and I like the way that you present yours, and I think it's really cool that you play this game with your wife ❤
I love the idea of your LGS as a base camp! It would be cool to have “excursion” tournaments where LGS’s took groups from their store to other locations! I also love how you emphasize that it’s okay to walk away. I would also emphasize there’s a difference between not having play styles align and not clicking that way vs not feeling safe in a situation. If it’s the second for any reason, if you know your store owner or someone working there, letting them know is huge, or you should always feel empowered to walk out. I personally enjoy having g an lgs night with my home pod. We plan ahead to go play a few rounds at the lgs, shuffle thru a few different people and get several rounds in
