I’ve been doing A LOT of experimenting with 4:6 lately and found great success with a fairly coarse grind size, sort of in between medium and medium coarse. Also been treating the first two pours like a double bloom and would usually increase agitation with each poor. The drawdown and results are extremely consistent and with the washed red bourbon I’ve been using from Rwanda, it produces incredibly sweet yet complex cups with a very pleasant body. Nice video and lovely channel btw, pleasantly missing the pretentiousness I increasingly feel among the specialty coffee side of TH-cam. Also like that your videos are short and to the point.
I just got the Origami Air S, and was doing a similar recipe, but only a 4 pulse Pour of 50g x 4 and 16g for a stronger and sweeter cup 😋. Might try doing your recipe with the kubomi prep
@@DaddyGotCoffee BTW i used a medium roast coffee for this one with more nutty flavours and it was good but a bit astringent. Would you lower the temp of the water to 90 - 93C?
Nice, sound similar to the 4:6 method, which I've had some pretty good success with. I'm a pretty big fan of my Origami (I got the medium size), so may try scaling this up a bit as I typically do a 12-16 oz depending on the day.
This is VERY close to a 4:6 depending on how you split the pours. I simplified it to make it easy to remember and stripped out all the math and principles to make it a little more plug and play for peeps.
Thank you for showing how to do that divot! it always looks really nice, I just wasn't sure how you did it. I actually was meaning to ask you about that.
Thanks for the awesome video! Any preferred grind range settings for Medium roast coffees .! Especially on Comandante C40. Note: i know grind settings dependent on individual palette preferences but looking for a standard range to play around. Thanks in advance.
I really need to get a C40 because lots of owners swing by with this request ☺️ Without having one, I would prob start at 25 clicks unless you have the red clix upgrade! 🥳
Great to see you on TH-cam, bro. Interested to hear your thoughts on Kalita filters vs. V60. I alternate between Hario filters and Kalita probably 50% of the time but enjoy brews using both types.
I love how approachable you make a coffee hobby seem (TH-cam & Instagram) in the midst of a familiar chaos. I have four boys, now that the youngest is almost 7 can I make a cup of coffee in complete peace?... No. Still a dad first.
ALWAYS a dad first brother. This comment is more encouraging to me than you might think. One of the reasons I make content the way that I do is to make specialty coffee feel attainable for people with regular lives. No, my house is not always clean so it might be a little rough around the edges in my videos. Just because we’re busy doesn’t mean we can’t make and enjoy great coffee 🥰🥰
Great question! There are *some* advantages to using a server. One of them is decanting when you pour into a glass which presents the aromatics more strongly in the cup. This also cools the brew a little which can bring it down to a more ideal drinking temp (for peak flavor) more quickly. Although, I think a lot of people (sometimes myself included if I’m honest) do this at least in part for aesthetic/experience reasons. If I’m in a hurry I’ll sometimes brew straight into a cup/tumbler!

This recipe is great, super easy to follow, any good recipes for the kono dripper ?
I actually often use this same recipe on the kono 🤙

Most of the time I use conical - it seems to hit my preferred flavour more often. I should do a comparison video!
Hello. What grinder do you use and what grind setting do you use to get a 3:00 pour? great video, thanks for your work.

DUDE, where is this other camera placed! Awesome shots!
Hahaha - I only have one cam! Did it twice and moved the camera!

Hello. Great video. What grind do you use for the recipe?
Serious question - why do people use a server for a single cup of coffee? Why not just brew straight into your cup?

It’s funny, because when I got my V60 and just winged a method, this is almost exactly what I did!
Good brewing doesn't have to be complicated! Love this! And yes - this recipe works on any dripper :)
What was the grind setting in the niche?
I think this was 42-45
This is basically Carlos Medina's recipe, right?
Does this recipe work for the Origami Air?
It sure does! I’m using the size S here but it will work on either!
Perfect! Will try this out. I also have the S. Thank you!
How do you keep it warm? Ist the weight a warmer?
the server is warmed when the filter is wet, that’s about all

I love my origami
Me too!
“Have you seen my chemex video??” 😂🤪
😂😂
Why you sound like a voice over artist here 😂😂😂😂
Hahahahahaha
