    "Traditional brewing is not that interesting"
    Eagerly waited for someone in a place of influence to say this for a long time.

    This is giving me great results. The fellow stagg filters in my origami seen to flow a little faster which allows me to grind even finer, but you have to manipulate the filter a bit

    I just tried this with some coffee by Friedhats (Ethiopia Guji Natural), after the second pour brew stalled towards the end so I had to stop it at 4:00 however the coffee tasted really good. I agree with you that you don't need a complex recipe with a lot of intervention (stirring, shaking etc) to produce a tasty cup.

    • @coffeewithapril
      @coffeewithapril  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To avoid "stalled brews" either work with "darker roasted coffees" or grind 1-2 hours before brewing.

    • @thorns66

      @@coffeewithapril Yes it seems dependent on bean/roast to some degree. I tried with your Bolivian Gesha (yes I'm behind on the subscription coffees..) and that drained around 2:15 and again really good. Do you use this method on the April Brewer too?

    Hi guys. I usually make a larger batch with this for 500ml water in. Would you say that the same 50:50 (250ml and 250ml) two pour method would have the same result?
    By the way your Kalita Wave method is absolutely beautiful and yielded the best tasting cup of coffee I've ever tasted.

    I've been using my April v2 for about 3weeks and brewing very good coffee. I do have an Origami on my shelf and some kalita filters too (been using April filters with my April). I'd like to compare these two drippers. You mentioned an Ek43 setting 7.5. Can you convert that to approximate micron size and /or Comandante c40 clicks?? Or is the grind size you use for April v2, about the same that you use for origami?

      Hello. Did you manage to determine the grinding on the comandante? What value do you use on your coffee grinders so that the pour is 2:30? I'm setting 25 clicks and the strait ends at 1:40(

    • @PuffGroundHoggy
      @PuffGroundHoggy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      i know this is very late reply so it might not serve any purpose, but i'll still write it in case someone else finds it useful!
      considering it was EK43 (0-16) model, 7.5 would roughly be around 470 micron meter.
      if we convert that into Comandante c40, it'll be roughly 18 or 19 clicks

  • @andrewjones4277
    @andrewjones4277 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wait, so what allows the use of Kalita filters in the this brewer? It's just a cone shaped brewer, right? Is it the dramatic corrugated wall that makes the kalita filter stay in place instead of collapsing?

    • @coffeewithapril
      @coffeewithapril  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. It's also narrow enough in the bottom of the filter to support the Kalita Filter.

  • @SwatBeatsOfficial

  • @inuyashaspet
    @inuyashaspet 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I noticed that you put the electric kettle back onto the stand between pours.
    Do you keep the water reheated at one constant temperature throughout the entire brewing process?
    Also, do you brew more often at 90 degrees (updated in the comments) vs. 94 degrees (as in the video) for most coffees?

    • @benjiyeowk
      @benjiyeowk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      keeping constant temperature during brewing would result in a better overall taste.

    • @illusioniser
      @illusioniser 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suspect holding temperature would provide better results, but that's a bonavita he's using. It doesn't automatically hold unless you press the hold button everytime you place the kettle on the stand.
