- Join me on-board a TUI Boeing 737-800 for a flight from Birmingham UK to Palma Mallorca, Spain.
TUI is the largest tourism company in the world and carried 11 million passengers in 2017 making them the UK's third largest airline. With so many flights to popular tourist destinations I simply had to try them for myself. On a personal note my first ever flight was on a Britannia Boeing 737-200 as a child. This airline became Thomson Airways and eventually TUI. Stick around for my final thoughts at the end of the review.

Fantastic review once again! Really refreshes some childhood memories.. My first ever flight was with TUI (Germany) and used to travel them a lot as a kid
Thanks they are a special airline to me too and were not too bad at all. I will be trying their 787 later this year hopefully.

Just got back from Palma on an Air Europa flight on behalf of TUI, the tui logo really does give you a holiday feeling

Excellent Report! Great Footage. Didn’t know they were the third biggest airline, never wanted to try holiday carriers but but Interesting to see. That Legroom is poor though haha! Left a like, Well Done.
The legroom was certainly an issue for me but overall I was quite impressed. Thanks for the like.

Ah the good old days! I do miss Britannia very much.
I fly with them mostly, because my mum works as a travel agent for tui 😂 we sometimes get a replacement aircraft due to the lack of aircrafts, normally Norwegian. I’d recommend flying with them, they have WiFi on their plane, not the best and doesn’t always work but it’s great!
I have tried Norwegian once and was very impressed.

You got it right with Xtra Leg Room or Xtra Space Seats..
I would certainly choose extra space on my next flight but overall was impressed with the flight.

Thanks! I really like TUI as well and though I have flown them 10 times on the 737 plus twice on the 787 I have never had the older TUI 737 cabin so this was an interesting insight into it as nobody really makes trip reports of charter airlines.
I take whatever I can get and my two most popular reviews so far have been TUI and Thomas Cook. Not yet tried their Dreamliner but will be next year to Cancun.
I'm not surprised, my two TUI 787 reviews are my two worst videos and only 360p yet have over 10,000 views total EDIT: The only other video I have that comes close in terms of view numbers is Eastern Airways' J41.
I will be flying from Eindhoven to OUD Morocco on the Boeing 737-800, I'm very excited!

Great Video how times have changed at Birmingham Thomas Cook and Flybe no longer exist EK A380 has returned, We do have Easyjet basing here next year, Qatar 787, Air India 787, Saudia 787. I do hope you make videos again soon Birmingham needs more Reviewers it has an Airport Stream now at last but still not enough coverage
Going on my first holiday at the age of 33, brum to Cyprus for 10 days....searched for cheap ones n first choice / tui come up trumps on all the others, loved how they included transfers n other bits unlike others where you paid extra / on top. I'm gutted I couldn't get a premium seating club etc but oh well.

5:36 TUI actually only have 186 seats in their 737s, they have a partition at the front instead of a row at the door.

The 3 Thomas Cook aircraft parked at the same place again. Must be where they park overnight. Is it just me Blake, or is it really annoying when people count down to the touchdown?!
Thanks for watching Samuel. I did not mind the countdown as it was a child who was really enjoying the experience. Reminded me of when I was young.
Oh right I didn't realise it was a child, I really don't mind that. I certainly have some fond memories of flying Birmingham-Menorca on First Choice 757, then through the merge to Thomson, and being really lucky if I got a First Choice liveried one. Really miss those turquoise colours and First Choice Airways itself. Did you ever go with them?
I think you're right about the Thomas Cook aircraft, I often see them there too in the mornings & evenings. I know how annoying these people can be! And last year on TUI there were these children who, from as soon as we were about 200 feet up started asking their parents (very loudly), "Have we touched yet? Have we touched yet?" This was a never-ending chant, as the aircraft seemed to float in the warm air - it ended with a mildly hard landing (I won't pretend that this was an actual hard landing, it wasn't), which caused them to scream. I know that these children enjoyed their flight, but did they have to shout for the entire descent?
The legroom is only an issue on the G-FDZ_ aircraft. My flights on G-TAWA and G-TAWH last year were much better. The seats were not backed in plastic, and had much better legroom. The aircraft with TAW_ registrations are much newer and even have the Sky Interior. I was fortunate to experience them on both legs of my journey.

Great video! Great to see one of the old TUI aircraft, they seem to be becoming a rarity theese days, manged to get myself on one in July, I think that will have been my last time on one as TUI have already removed many from their fleet.

Great review 👍. Out of interest, how tall are you? Flying on the TUI 737-800 this week and there are no exit seats available on the outbound flight (I’m v tall so usually book one). Hopefully I can wedge myself in!

M Rogs definitely choose the aisle if you are that tall. I hope it offers a little comfort.
@@pandamike88 to get an exit seat you need to book sufficiently far in advance. The seat pitch in the standard seats is awful, I'm nearly 6ft and am wedged in on them. Ryanair has better seat pitch which says it all !

Hi Blake, just come across your video. I was just wondering how tall you are. I'm 5ft 8 and was wondering if the extra legroom seats would be comfy on a 4.5hr flight to gran canaria. It looked like you were very cramped in your seat
I am 6ft 1 and find the standard seats ok for a short flight just about but would definitely spring for extra legroom on anything over a couple of hours.

My TUI flight as basically a *HORROR* story. Im working on a video for it.
I’m off on a Tui 737 800 next week to Zante and couldn’t get extra leg room seats or anything as they were already taken. Just wondering how tall you are? I have a feeling my knees will be in bits when we land. I’m 6ft 3 for reference. Thanks
I am 6ft 1 and would recommend extra legroom if possible.

Always wanted to fly on a TUI 757-200, but as usual, I’m just stuck with those crappy Ryanair 737’s...

Not a fan of TUI. They are way overrated for what you actually receive during the flight. I struggle to see what you get from the in flight service than you would from any other carrier (except for the grumpy, self pompous staff of course).

Accurate but one is a holiday airline and the other is a national carrier so you can’t really compare.
Im going to Turkey in two days with tui but im going with one of these bigger ones tui nordic🤠🇹🇷
