- We are ending off 2023 with one of our wildest adventures for the year, breaking Matt's rule for cold weather, but it's going to be worth it. We are in Flemington, NJ to rescue a 1941 Lincoln Continental, a 1939 Ford Coupe and dig through a garage full of parts. The gentleman that owned all of this has been living here for the last 40 years, in a small apartment in the back of the garage. Both cars appear to be well taken care of and will hopefully not fight us coming out of the garage. Once both of the cars loaded, we have a ton of boxes to dig through, looking for useable parts!!

WOW, the Lincoln may be the pick of the year!
I could only imagine what was overlooked in that garage.❤❤❤❤❤
I restored a 39 ragtop in 1995 that was found in a field with a tree growing up through the floor. At the time I was told it was one of four in existence. It was green with a tan top and wide White Walls, It was gorgeous and correct.
Ford has the original records of every '41 Lincoln Continental built. For a fee you can get a copy showing when it was built and accessories added, as well where it was shipped to.
You are exactly right. You're a records on every car because every one was hand built one at a time.
Matt and Mike, I just have to let you know how much your posts mean to me and I'm sure to many other 85 year old has- beens and never-weres like myself. I am elated by this particular post but Ive been following you guys for more than two years now. Merry Chistmas. You guys have made my day.👍👍👍
Thanks so much for following along!
I am 73 years old but when I was a kid at Williams Bay WI everyone was still driving these old cars! In Arizona, we all had old cars due to these lasting a long long time in the desert.
Happy holidays to all the Iron Trappers, Matt, Mike, Steve and Moon, and thanks for another great year of videos.
I'm still blown away of all the early rolling iron that is still out there buried away in peoples garages, barns and sheds. Thanks for taking us along ITG. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone from Al and Janet in East Stroudsburg Pa.
You know it! I am amazed at the gold mines still waiting to be discovered. I found mine stashed in a barn for several decades and left undisturbed probably because the property had been kept in the family.
Someone will be able to do that when I die barns containers and sheds😢
@@SteveOverman-ou3my I will likely sell everything before I decide it's my time
Right now I do have some collectables but lost all passion for them
Great finds. The 39 Ford looks like it is in remarkable original condition, and very complete and unmolested. I hope the engine and driveline are ok, and you have it on the road soon. The Lincoln also looks complete. It needs more help, but will be worth it. I've had my 48 Ford Super Deluxe since 1971, with it's original 59 AB engine, and enjoy the channel. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
The ‘39 coupe looks to be really solid. The ‘39 and ‘40 coups were, and still are, a beautiful design. I like the ‘39 Deluxe because of its stylish sloping rear quarters, the headlights that blend with the front fenders, and, hydraulic brakes. I will watch as you put this classic on the road again.
Couldn't agree more!
I like the '39 Deluxe because the body looks to be in great shape !
That guy who lived in the garage, is from my generation, a “Boomer.” A lot of us took the time to appreciate what our parent’s generation created and made the choice to preserve some of it. Matt, you and a lot of your generation, has picked up the baton and keeping these classics, in the race.
Agreed!
Wish I was young & healthy so I could work on old vehicles again
It is really good to see that you young people have an eye for the nice old things, and it is super important that it is passed on to others who also have that interest. Always nice to see your videos. Merry Christmas.👍🎄🎅
Two Great Gifts for Christmas - - 1941 Lincoln Zephyr and 1939 Ford Coupe!
Hope you saved the broken Lincoln grilles too, I’m sure they are rare enough to be restored.
Yeah, even smashed up, I'd guess they could still be parts-doners for other grills of the same type.
That ‘39 is a rolling piece of art deco artwork!
That's exactly what I was thinking can you say extra cool❤❤❤❤
it's whats called a "business coupe", the cab is shorter, it has no back seat and a larger trunk as you can see, 39 I believe still had the floor shifter too, 40 went to three on the tree
What a score- these well preserved old cars must be running out unfortunately- so lucky you are
The 39 looks like an original paint car.
Id love to see a video on the 39, what a beauty ❤
Coming soon!
I think the 39 coupe is a great car for a factory spec rebuild or possible a concourse job. Way too many get chopped up! Merry Christmas Iron Trap Garage
That '39 looks like a total time-warp car. Externally, the only missing part seems to be the trim ring on the left front. I really look forward to the next vid. Original headlights!!
Merry Christmas to all.
Thanks for coming out and saving the ol girls fellas. Means alot to us. Happy Holidays Prost!
Did you try and auction those cars off first? Or just take the first offer that came your way?
No auction needed for it was not all about the money. Getting the girls saved from inevitable demise and ITG was our best choice.
That is not a Lincoln Zephyr convertible. That's a Lincoln Continental 41 Lincoln Continental.
Forty's had door handles 41's had pushed buttons.
We know that. We put Zephyr in the description to attract views.
2 nice cars i dont remember ever seeing a ragtop like that one happy holiday guys great job
Nice way to enjoy a Sunday morning seeing Ford's being saved. Merry Christmas All
Love them old scrapyards, junkyards
That is such a rare find. I absolutely love that body style.
The 40 was the original. It's Edsel Ford designed it for his wife had a delivery to West Palm Beach.
And when all their friends saw it, they all wanted one. That was the start of the lincoln continental brand
Wow! Christmas came early! That's a really nice 39! Can't wait to see it cleamed up and running.
Great find! Especially the 1941 Lincoln Continental V12 Cabriolet. Both cars are very well worth saving.
Happy New Year, chaps! Thanks for many hours of great videos in 2023.
nice like seeing , something besides muscle cars found and pulled from the garage or barns
Pulling old treasures out of barns? It just doesn't get any better than this. To see those cars back on the road will be thrilling, can't wait for you next video! I do feel bad for the gentleman who has to give this up. It would not be easy.
Now that gentleman truly earned the name "trashcan garage".😎 Incredible stash. Nice save.
Love the 39👍👍👍
This is a sweet find, and in Jersey no less
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you for the great video of the Ford-hoarders horrid living conditions and his collection of cars. WOW!
they made 250 hardtops and 250 convertibles my uncle has a hardtop straight 12 all original survivor all stainless is gold plated
Straight 12? No such thing. You probably mean V12.
Another BIZARRE treasure hunt! Love the 39& 41 & love the videos and what you all do. MERRY CHRISTMAS & look forward to next year!
What an adventure! Merry Christmas to the Irontrap crew.😊
Very KOOL Collection and Score Matt and Mike Merry Christmas 🎅🏻🤶🏻
That zephyr wow convertible with a cont. Kit rare rare find I'm jealous lol
Merry Christmas to you and your family and crew enjoy watching what you do
Dude!!! Great video!!! Tow strap and two way radios!!! Love the picker videos!!! They're the best!!!!✌️
Matt, You are correct in the possible year of the MG. It is a TD model made between 1950 and 1954. It's very collectible among British car enthusiasts.
53.
53 was the last year for the TD
I know you are Ford through and through, but that Lincoln is the prize in my mind. It looks bigger than my house! You'd struggle to get either of them in a lot of places over here in the UK.
Ford Lincoln Mercury are all the same family. No problem with any of them here!
Nice trailer!👍
A pre-war Zephyr is a beautiful thing. That is definitely one you should keep, maybe slightly modified?
We’re thinking on it!
Great find and save! You getting the MG? That Coupe was in fantastic shape and the Cadi wasn't bad either. You did find The Horn of Plenty Mouse a lot! Merry Christmas and a Rust filled New Year.
MG was picked up by the new owner when we were there.
@@IronTrapGarage Very nice! My mum drove a similar one when she was young.
Amazing how he semi organized his stash, not just piles upon piles of stuff.
Agreed. While the building was deteriorating it was well organized. True “organized chaos” and he knew where everything was.
My uncle was that way. It was neatly organized, but when he died a few years ago, everything was there. For example, he had every pay stub from before he went into the Navy, back in 1950.
He worked very hard for a long time.
The Zeph is an amazing car. Can’t let it rust away! A buddy of mine has 4 in his museum and they are my fav aside from a couple of pierce arrows
These beautiful cars are still around because of the elderly Gentleman's Hard Work, and Insight of things worth saving. You don't need to INSULT him like a bunch of In-grateful Butt-Holes... who are Terrified, of a Family of, terrified MICE, trying to escape ...Run Away! A mouse might dive into the gaping plumber Butt Crack of your Orange, Sagging, Skinny jeans we don't want to see. BE GRATEFUL THESE CARS STILL EXIST and don't be Butt Holes.
If only you could identify the difference between normal jeans and skinny jeans.. then we could take you seriously…
Did anybody notice the painted woodgrain on the 39 dash? Very nice.
There used to be a few old timers around that did that for restorations. Don’t know if they passed that skill on.
That 39 looks solid !!! Nice haul.
Those cars must be restored as they were born ,they're jewel of the ancient engineering, and I'd like to see those marvelous cars after their restoration!
"WOW" what a great adventure, sure wished I lived in the US, so much great cool cars to get and run around in, unlike here in the UK, where they making it as hard as they can to own and drive great old cars like that, watching your great videos is like living a beautiful dream, I sure do miss the 1970's when we had the freedom to own and drive these great cars, and they were cheap to buy in those days, I owned a 1963 Dodge Dart Convertible, (slant six) a 1963 Dodge Polar convertible, with a 383 V8, a 1973 Chevrolet Malibu six pot, and a 1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 350 V8, I sure do miss owning one.😪
I think I would at least have to have a go at that Lincoln V-12 to see if I could get it running again. Then, let it go to a reputable restorer. It appears to be in excellent condition...
Wow..another amazing hoard of cars and parts. Good job saving what you can!
Mice are a good stress test for the old cardio vascular system.
Nice cars though, glad they're being saved
in an increasingly homogenized world god bless the eccentrics.
With a pick set from the Lock Picking Lawyer channel, you may find picking old locks easier than dropping a link.
Afternoon Matt!! Very cool!! I hope you're keeping this one, that Lincoln is worth what anyone is willing to pay for it!
Poor old guy - but nicely organized for what it is....
If that's nice organization I never wish to see a bad one lol. I mean it could be worse, but that's pretty rough
That 39 looks just like one of my fathers cars. He had 36 three window greyhound also.
That's a beautiful car, hope you'll respect it
Must have been a high end car thing I didn't think 🤔 they were equipped with a steering wheel lock 🔐
Nice vintage car finds - The 38 Ford looks to be in excellent original shape, so of course you'll want to bag it, drag it, chop the top, and stick a huge modern V8 in it... OR - you could just leave it alone, get it running, and then sell it via auction to a collector who'll restore it!
The 41 Lincoln V12 Convertible is a rare car - that should be restored and then make it to the Prestigious Automobile Shows... But, I worry you'll decide to do something idiotic and ruin this fine automobile by "Hot Rodding" it... That one is another car that should be auctioned... NOT HOT RODDED.
You mean “make it better” by hot rodding it?
NO - leave them alone and stock! Those two cars are perfect examples of why "HOT ROD" guys should NOT be allowed to own them. Especially that very rare Lincoln V12 Convertible. That would bring huge money from classic car buyers.
@@faerieSAALE-- I agree with you!! Let them alone and stock. I refused to sell a 1960 Chevy Apache pickup to a guy, once I found out his hotrod plans. I decided to keep it mainly because it's restored. I'll hand it down to my kids or grandkids, with the strict understanding they cannot modify it. There is enough "hotrods" in this world. I watched one TH-cam video where a guy turned a Model A into an EV. Made me sick as hell.
It makes one feel happy to see not only were these jewels kept inside, but that somebody these days wants to make them roadworthy again and not chop them up.
It's sad to see folks rummaging thru a man's life. I wish I could have known this gentleman, definitely my kind of people as I too live in an organized chaos, though not nearly as extreme. This place really reminds me of my brother's place before he passed, he was a major influence in my life. Glad to see you folks rescue these 2 gems to finally bring them back to life after all these years. That Lincoln is especially cool. Too bad you couldn't snag the MG as well... another really cool car.
Another person saved the MG when we were there. So it isn’t left behind
Bloody tyre kickers 😂😅
I like this video already because its in NJ. I thought all the cool cars were gone by me. I'm surprised that 39 Ford has a column lock. My 55 Buick doesn't even have one
Is that the same as Sonny’s car in The Godfather? The one he gets shot at the toll booth?
Merry Christmas !! The 1941 Lincoln truly says," I got dough and you don't" even in the condition it's in now. I wouldn't be surprised if that death trap you pulled those cars from either catches fire or collapses within a short time. Terrific score and thanks for sharing. BTW: I'd like to see something of the MG roadster.
Not on this channel
The MG was sold to the new owner the day we were there. So it did get saved
😂@@IEchuckie
Why do people ALWAYS store converts with the top down? I swear……😆😜🤔 the mice had class!
Notice how Matt never picks up or moves anything heavy.
You know what they say about assumptions… you’re an asshole.
What a score …! You are the man Matt … half your luck , can’t wait to see the video of the job lot you received !
I saw the 65 Cadillac! Dark Red! Any updates on the Cadillac?
Amazing! Your adventures just keep getting better and thanks for taking us along for the ride! Go Iron Trap, keep moving forward!
Oh man I want an old econoline
I’m sure the day(s) those cars first arrived on the property were nothing but happiness and hope. They’re still going to have a chance to survive and maybe go down the road again.
A car buddy owned a 41 Continental Convertible with polished heads, the most gorgeous engine compartment ever.
Oh wow I bet that was beautiful!
Very cool pick. Can't wait to see the reveal video of the parts as there were little clues. I always take a tool box on my crazy adventures like this. Weird situations always present though. All part of the fun/adventure
Merry Christmas Iron Trappers
2 more beauties, but that Lincoln Zephyr! Oh my, I think I'm in love!
Matt is in his glory today on this one.😊
Love that 39, such an original car 👍 Glad they both got saved, hopefully kept original too :)
Guy must have really been a wild-eyed loner at the gates of Oblivion, gathering all that
A Humphry Bogart car, "the Big Sleep" or "Maltese Falcon?"
Love the 39, fan of ragtops but the Lincoln not so much good job saving what you can being a packrat myself when it come to old stuff know you can't save it all but great job on what you Matt & Mike are doing. Happy Holidays!
We would love to see a full resto on the Lincoln.
That Lincoln is in the same league as the Packard you pulled out of the old factory in Philadelphia, just wild to see something of that caliber left to rot for so long, but thats also what allowed it to stay so unmolested and original
Thank you Matt for saving these cars, not destroying them like that hack Chad!
Merry Christmas Guys -------- Just had to play the mouse scene twice --------- Thank you all for bringing us these videos ------- and for finding these old cars and parts and for passing them on for others to get their cars back on the road -------- Keeping Them Alive ------ Have a Good Holiday ------- Rodney
Kick steering, yup. Ground dampness, the other rust devil and the ratz even made me jump.
That articulating lamp behind the water heater is so cool, it’s worth $200+
Wow, another great score. TH-camr "Strong's Garage" also has a '41 Continental. Check it out.
I will check it out!
Love the zephyr and merry christmas to Matt and mike and whole crew
Mike is afraid of MICE!!
You got a Lincoln Zephyr V-12. Thats a big score!!!!!!! Better keep that car!!!!
I don't know if I agree. That's not a hot rod or the purpose of the show. More of a classic original car I think.😮😮
Its still a Zephyr!!!!!!!
@@RickyDunn-m6l It definitely is anybody's collectible. But it does not fit the hot rod world. In my opinion
Not a Zephyr
When I was 17 I bought a 39 Ford coupe deluxe it was a badass street rod small block Chevy. That one sure gets me dreaming
20:26, I'm willing to bet was his wife and her passing launched him into serious depression.
Was the steering box seized ?? No steering locks on 39 Fords.
Wrong. Certainly is steering locks on 39 Fords.
