Really nice demo right here. I dig Michael's playing. Especially the last part! Well done.
I purchased a 60th Anniversary R9 with the factory burst finish earlier this year and can confirm they are absolutely stellar instruments. I love the (unpotted) Custombucker PU's that Gibson is using for the model and this video does a great job of showcasing the tonal palette of the guitar. The only thing missing from this is a showcase/demo of the smooth and responsive wiring harness in the 60th R9, which is arguably the best that Gibson has ever installed in the reissue lineup.

I got one too. Huge difference with the unpotted pickups and the wiring upgrades.

Bass Dude.....Congrats on the 60th R9!!! I too purchased a 2019 60th anniversary R9 in green lemon from Wildwood Guitars 4 months ago! "Stellar instrument" is an understatement! LMAO I was tossed between the factory burst (as you have), the kindred burst or the green lemon. I went with green lemon because I already have a heritage cherry 1992 standard …...which BTW, I thought was the greatest LP of all time til I played the 2019 R9!!! My '92 is so "broken in" and plays so well (almost 30 yrs old!) that every time I buy or just play a new guitar, when I go back to the '92 to compare feel/playability/comfort, it plays better than all (and I have a Suhr tele and Nash '63 strat!). That was UNTIL I received my R9!!! First, Wildwood set the guitar up beautifully! (I asked for as low with no buzzing or approx. 1/16th on both sides at the 12 th fret). Now, I said "feel" comparison and not sound because the other guitars are so different it wouldn't make sense to compare a tele to a LP.
When I first plugged in those unpotted pickups, the clarity blew me away!!! And rolling off the volume knob is an entirely new experience with these guitars!
Ok, if I don't stop, I'll be writing a dissertation! LOL Enjoy your R9!!! Worth every single penny and then some IMO!

Thomas Liggett...Congrats to you as well!!! Which finish? (you can read what I said to Bass Dude regarding mine)

@@brutus6328 Thanks for the congrats and back at you on that.
I also purchased mine through Wildwood. The 60th is the third Les Paul I've owned and without question the finest one I've ever had the pleasure of owning and playing. I had a Standard that I purchased new in 1990 and owned for 17 years before trading it away and also own a Orville Les Paul.
I totally agree with your assessment of both the unpotted custom bucker PU's and the wiring harness on the 60th. The clarity and articulation of the custom buckers is astonishing. A thing of beauty and no more so than with the neck PU which finally brings the warmth and aforementioned clarity to the tonal plate that I've always been seeking. Just wow! Like you mentioned, the responsiveness and usable tones found when engaging and tweaking both the volume and tone controls on the 60th is amazing. I also love the VOS nitro finish on the models too.
Combined with it's ultra-smooth playability, superb neck-feel, light weight (mine comes in at 8.62 lbs) and jaw-dropping good looks the 60th represents everything I've ever wanted in a Les Paul.
Expensive? Yes, but I've been waiting most of my lifetime to own an instrument of this quality, beauty and playability, Absolutely no regrets. I'm sure you feel the same.

Bass Dude....THANKS as well! And again, I'm in full agreement with you. I was completely blown away when I received the guitar. I also had a 1990 LP Standard that I so regret selling. I sold it back in 2000, but only recently learned it was a Sam Ash special run (a friend played it and recommended it as I had just started playing and knew nothing). Never seen another like it anywhere til I researched it. It was ebony with uncovered double crème pickups and gold hardware! (there's a few pics on the net that show it). Anyway it's the one that got away! LOL
As you know the early 90's had very slim taper necks (and I have fairly small hands/fingers) so I was a bit worried about the profile of the new R9's but was told that they actually slimmed them down a bit and so I took a chance (I was unable to locate one to play prior to purchasing). Wildwood's customer service was about as good as it gets. I could never recommend them enough! They did everything they could to explain to me the difference and describe the profile. AND>>>>>They said I could simply send it back within 48hrs or so and pick out an R0 and they'd swap it no questions asked. I was shocked at how comfortable the neck was as it was nowhere near the baseball bat I had envisioned. Mine came in at 8.5lbs so right around the same weight as yours. When I was shopping, that seemed to be the average. Every once in a while I'd see one listed as low as 8.2 - 8.3lbs (and I don't think I saw even one at 9lbs.....all were 8.9 or less) but I'm ecstatic with the weight.
Funny, regarding the tops, I searched forever because I'm very particular about the flaming (OCD level! LOL). I don't like super thin/tight flame and I also don't like it so angled coming into center. It HAD to be a certain width and book matched almost parallel! LMAO (I know it's crazy but so is the amount of money ….so it had to be prefect!)
No regrets here either......NONE! It's the one I'll have for life and pass down when I go. The worst part is, once you buy a guitar of this caliber, it's hard to get excited for ANY other sub $6K+ guitar....hahahahahaha I mean, who wants a POS that's only $4K or so when you have one of these..….right? LOLOLOL

Most if not all of the '59 60th anniversarys I heard and played have a great & outstanding tone! I wonder what they did different with these ...

The custom buckers are unpotted!!! Most feel that makes a huge difference in clarity and I agree 100%! At first I was worried about squealing but that's been a non issue! Plus they have new pots as well. They knocked it out of the park with these 60th anniversary models.

They’re supposed to do that it’s an inherent quality of the materials used. They wanted to be accurate and all

Don’t buy it, then. More choice for me
