I don't think there is so much of a difference with the real one. Tom Murphy knows his shit that's for damm sure. Thank you Captain for make people's life better. by the way , my SG Special P90's Is from Andertons. first went to Dublin and now is happiliy still with yours truly in Spain.

I am blessed to have purchased the 59 light aged Les Paul and it’s glorious. I’m 61 with a birth date of 1959 so this is special to me for many reasons.

The Neck Pickup on a proper good Les Paul is so great! It doesn't get enough appreciation, imo. Beautiful sounds. That's what makes a Les Paul an amazing guitar.

Lee has come on so much as a player over the last few years,, he truly has a knack of choosing just the right notes and phrases and is a killer player now. Pete is fab obviously too, but Lee just seems to under play just the right amount to sound perfect✌🏻🤘🏻
Gary Moore was magical on the Les Paul.
It's been said that Les Paul wasn't bad on the Les Paul neither.
Gary Moore could have played a £20 Chinese ripoff Les Paul and still have been a legend.
He played fast but he wasn’t really that unique all his songs sound the same

Uncontrollable feedback from Captain in the intro. These pickups are finally close to the real thing.... I played a 1960 at Gruhns and it howled and screamed. The original PAF weren’t wax potted. So they actually react very similarly

This video convinced me to buy a 2022 Murphy Lab '59 Reissue. It cost a fortune, but I don't regret it for a second. Every inch of it is stunning, the sound is amazing, and it plays like nothing I have played before.
Most def for sure!! Got myself a 2022 lightly aged R9 too. My goodness, I thought it was all hype. But I am sure glad I was wrong! Haha

@Hublot Whore334 no doubt his willingness to just absorb and expand on still pay tribute even with his my idea is out ahead of my fingers style, gives it tension that I don't think anyone came close to. Still..if you asked him back then..I think maybe Peter Green's name might of come up..Of course he sang as well. I saw him touring the 2 album in early 70. I went to see him really but I walked out blown away by John Paul Jones and Bonham. BTW he liked his tele..

It takes incredible skills to write music and the riffs of Jimmy Page. The same riffs that almost all of us can relate to and love. Other guitarists can be technically better, but do we remember them or like them even in the same ballpark? That's the whole key, a song we can all relate too.

I bought my 59 VOS from you about 10 years ago and she’s still my favourite.
That opening jam had almost as much feedback as the comment section when discussing relic guitars.

If you asked Jimmy P or Gary M back then I think they would say yeah I'am no Peter Green. He was one of those just rare cats that just was inside the music shining lights in ways you never heard before, plus he sang..When you go back and watch him there was such an ease and genius about his playing and his Les Paul with that out of phase..

Have the Murphy Lab Brazilian board Korina V and a shop special Brazilian board 59 Murphy Lab. Both are shockingly close to the originals and the best guitars by a mile in my quiver. Both make me sound and play better than I am - similar to my magic 64 strat in terms of mojo.

I may be alone with this choice. But my favorite Burst player is Gary Rossington from Lynyrd Skynyrd. There were better players but I loved his tone, riffs and licks. Glad I got to see him play live. It was a true treat
There is no Skynyrd without Gary, Gary is the Lynyrd Skynyrd sound. The boy can play, not bad at all of a choice of Burst Player.

I love custombuckers but they have a run away frequency somewhere in the upper frequencies and it's not because they are unpotted . I hear in the pre 2019 potted ones as . I have seen quite a few people say the same thing about the CBs
For me too Lee, Paul Kossoff had the best tone on a Les Paul. He’s my all time favorite player 🙏. There are so many greats, Freddie King, Danny Kirwan, Peter Green, Slash and the list goes on. But Koss is the sound of a Les Paul to me 🙏 made my day that Lee said Kossoff! 🥳

The custom shop was ran by a guy named Roger Griffin before tone Murphy Griffin did the reiisues in the 90s . He actually built jimmy page a replica hs number les paul in 1992 and it became one of pages main stage guitars on the page and plant tours
Played one at the Gibson Garage in Nashville. YES, it's that damn good.

Eric Clapton didnt play a Les Paul very long. He has been a Fender guy much longer. But Eric Clapton can make a hello kitty guitar sound great....its all kinda moot
I would add Mick Taylor to that list, you do have a great list though. The top 3 came from the same camp. You can also through in Jeff Beck in his earlier years with a Lester.

I’m with you, Captain. So many great players and recordings of ‘59s extant. For me, it’s that tone from Kossoff, and the vibrato,also, that is unmistakably unique to him.

I still absolutely adore my 88 LP Std which I got off some bloke in 2000 for £700, but I'd still to do a side by side comparison with some of these other badboys.
Captain Lee I reckon you are correct with the newer CS ‘59 reissues. Whether it’s the 2019 60th anniversary ‘59 LP or the ML aged versions. I swear there is extra go go juice in the ‘59’s compared to the other year models. Perhaps Gibson is winding the PuP’s just a tad bit hotter to give that extra oomph for their flagship LP! I have a new ML Light aged ‘59 LP which is going to replace a 2019 60th anniversary ‘59 LP but both singing louder with more oomph than a 2020 ‘58 and 2020 ‘60 I have. My ML is a rare weight at 7lbs 15oz, so I don’t see weight as an influencing factor. I also setup all my guitars the same way in terms of relief, action and PuP height relative to strings. As is often the case, it could just be the individual guitars, but sometimes it seems like a pattern is emerging the more serial numbers you play 🙂 I cannot wait for the Andertons team to keep trying more CS LP’s for the comparison videos to come. I’m very interested to see if you find a pattern of traits between CS LP product lines... 👍
The 2021 limited edition Epiphone Les Paul Custom Koa is the best era correct Les Paul of 2021 hands down very high end era correct they will definitely go up in Value through the years that's for sure craftsmanship is remarkable...now for these Murphy lab Les Paul's very nice but I prefer my guitars to age naturally

These look and sound fabulous! How do they fare, tone wise, against regular Custom Shop VOS models? Has there been something done, besides the aging, to make them more resonant, have better sustain etc? Are the pickups the same Custom Buckers or have they been specially hand-wound by some maestro? In other words, is there anything besides the aging that makes these guitars worth the premium over standard Custom Shop ones?

Got a ‘59 Murphy lab heavy aged Golden Poppy Burst, 2 weeks ago. It is just stunning!! No picture or video do them justice. In real life these are even more breathtaking. I know the first time I opened the case my jaw dropped to the floor. (And even now after 2 weeks, everyday I look at it with immense joy in my eyes) And then comes the sound, Oooohhh boy THE sound! 👏🏻🥰
Yeah with any Gibson you have to see it in person. When I opened the case to my LP standard I was just blown away with how beautiful it was.

The 59 lee was playing haf hotter pickups . There is alot of variance in their out put . Most are around 8k to 8.2k but their are quite a few in the 7.3 to 7.6 range. Although they are rare custombuckers can sometimes be as hot as 8.6k . I have also found that they are using low wind custombuckers in the 57 and 58 reissues and hottet ones for 59 and 60
Way too many players to pick but massive fan of the following Garry Moore, Jimmy Page and Slash also don't forget Joe Perry!!
I have a Les Paul Classic 2021. I am considering selling it and buy the 59. Would I really notice it being any better? will the intonation be any better? will it feel better? will the fret work be better? are the tuners better than grovers? thanks

All these reissued / revised models, they are probably better then the old ones . The guitar builders have got loads more knowledge . And super accurate tools machines for final set up .
That intro jam gave me a similar feeling to playing Mario Kart 8 on 200cc.
Slash owns the second '58 Les Paul ever made so I don't think it's for sale. I suppose this is the closest I'll get...

Whole lotta love was recoded with a les Paul through a Vox amp that was very similar to a Vox super Beatle. Jimmy remembers all these things he only pretends to not remember when he does not want to answer a question or is trying to be intentionally vague even whe he is asked. benign questions

Gary Moore for me. I am wondering whether to buy a heavily aged Morphy Lab at 14,000 in my local shop but am bothered by the weight which seems a bit on the heavy side.....I expected it t be light but no...any feedback please? The price tag is over 12,000$.
