Decided to release this a little early for y'all! I apologize for the few "hiccups" in the narration. Had very little time to get this video edited and completely missed those minor mistakes. Instead of that, I hope y'all enjoy the video!
My great uncle was a Conductor on the Southern Belle from Heavener to Shreveport in the 50's and 60"s. His return trip was as a Brakeman possible on a freight.
The "Arthur E. Stillwell" car was formerly MidSouth Rail's lone business car "The Prospector". When MidSouth ran their OCS, it was pulled by GP10 #1047 (because it had a brass bell...I know, weird), followed by the "Prospector", then it had caboose #1605 trailing on the end. "The Prospector" was named after investment company "The Prospect Group" who helped finance the MidSouth in the very beginning. It was originally equipped with a covered walking platform on the rear of the car, but the KCS changed it to the all-glass "theater viewing" rear end. Now on to the "get off my lawn" complaint: when did KCS change the name of KCS 1? I had no idea this change took place. Wish they had left it alone. Oh well.
Technically CP does have f units they're FP9 locomotives and they're occasionally used on their office car trains it's Norfolk Southern and CSX that no longer have f units Norfolk Southern sold their f units two of them went to the Reading and Northern Railroad The other two I don't know CSX has f40PH locomotives in the place of their previous f units
@@missourivalleyrails There's so many variables to it. I found out about the southbound departure two hours before it left. There's really no guarantee in railroading.
Great video as always! Love the shots, especially over the trestle in Anacoco. Hoping I get this thing running one more time sometime soon in the daylight.
Another great job Bishop. Really enjoyed seeing that train. The only thing that would have made it better would have been seeing it go through Ruston and then across the Ouachita river bridge. (I realize of course that the train did not go to those places.)
Considering we're still a good ways from anything final, I'm willing to bet this isn't the last time it runs. Never know though. That's why we went after it.

Appreciate it! Be sure to take a look at Mose's pictures on the archives. Lots of classic pictures of my home region.

KCS 1 was rebranded about two years ago. Also very interesting info on the Stillwell. Thanks for sharing.
Nice Bishop I wish I could have caught him. Tho on Saturday I will go to Shreveport to railfan Some UP and KCS.
Good luck and stay safe out there.
Very nice video
Great Video! How do people find out when ocs trains are running like the old NS before they were sold and like CP KCS CSX?

@@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan yes I’m asking how did people find out when they are running? Specifically CP
Heads up from other railfans or actual inside information is the best way to figure it out.
@@LouisianaRailProductions if it ever runs again? Enough time to get from ND down to it? For heads up?

Great coverage, well done!
An excellent capture and chase of the business train!
Fine looking train hopefully they go with CP,s bid and there will be 2 fine looking Bussiness trains
At least KCS had the sense not to get rid of their F's like Norfork Southern did 3 years ago
One sweet compilation of the KCS OCS! Thanks for sharing my friend!
Glad you liked it!

Would've been nice. Who knows maybe it'll make a Speedway run before too long.
i miss the NS F Units.
Having a final outing before they're swallowed up by CN or CP (as appropriate)?
Considering we're still a good ways from anything final, I'm willing to bet this isn't the last time it runs. Never know though. That's why we went after it.
If the CP buyout is approved, this beautiful train is likely history. :-(
Not likely. KCS will still be a subsidiary.
Very good chance it could be. But I'm sure the F units would find a new home at a museum.
@@trainanswererguy8758 Looks like the deal is with CN now..They didn't keep any old liveries.
👍
👍
Thanks!
Pan am railways has some not sure of the exact model
1:34 Correction The Wye in Laredo is only on MX side there's no Way to Wye the Train on the US side.
P.S lowkey Hope CP wins KCS
So
It’s going to New Orleans?
No. As the video said, it was a Laredo to KC run.
Great chase of the OCS Bishop bud! I really wish I was there too bud. I was planning on heading that way but oh well.
Really hoping this thing will venture onto CN if the deal gets approved.
NS has the ugliest train in the country
