- Three students of Nirma University, Ahmedabad, went on a picnic to Sardar Sarovar near the Narmada dam, but their picnic on Friday turned into a veritable nightmare. The students, two females and a male, went inside the Sarovar to take a bath, when a sudden surge in water flow caught them unawares. They shouted for help.

Well the three kids showed a lot of patience and heroism. They stuck together and kept their foot strongly on the ground.
I hope they had a fantastic time, and cherish this for the rest of their lives. Not many people are this lucky!

For two hours they remained engulfed by waters until rescue arrived. They were lucky the main thrust of water was on the sides and not in the centre as you can see from video. Secondly, the river was not very wide at this point. A similar accident took place at Patalpani near Indore a few years ago and there 3 girls and 2 men were standing on a rock in the middle of a river. After a few seconds they lost balance and were swept away. Only one girl and one boy survived. You can see its video on some of these pages.
Indian emergency services need to be improved. thank god, these kids were rescued.

I was struggling to notice these students in water but thank god that blue frame helped me to find them..

I have been to the same exact place, I think it is called Jharvani, its a 15 to 20 feet waterfall, but when the water flows like that, it is scary... And I am not going there back again after seeing this..
Precaution is better than care... Always be careful don't risk life

india is a nation of none swimmer, they must make swimming compulsary in the primary schools for boys and girls, though in this case swimming dosent help, only keep distance from the dangrous points.

+Its not easy being handsome The water was flowing slower and shallower when they went in. Something caused the water level to suddenly rise, trapping them on the rock. If there is a dam upstream from here it's possible they opened the gates and released water.

कोई अफसोस नहीं। युवा हैं।घर में जगह नहीं है, यहां नहाने आते।मालुम है मोसम कभी भी अपना रंग दिखा सकता है। प्रोभिटेट एरिऐ में जाने की मनाई है, फिर भी तीनों युवा अपनी झांकी जमाने के चक्कर में वहां गये। थोड़ी देर हो जाती तो तीन झांकीया निकलती।
Can we learn a lesson from this incident? Instead of throwing money in the temples why not donate it to Air Forces who can buy a reascue helicopter with a winch,a trained rescuer and a doctor to give first aid on the spot. This way people don't have to wait for hours to get help.
Maybe the current pulled them off.
