      Because it helps them and their citizens feel better about themselves. Eg, the living standards of people in the UK has probably fallen compared to other progressive countries, but their brainwashed citizens don't notice it so much as long as they can point to poorer countries and say "Awww look at those poor souls. They don't even have X" (for X read anything from running water to snow, according to Live Aid!). If you watch the BBC, 'Africa' is only portrayed as progressive within a few narrow parameters: protecting animals/the environment; a new mudhut school in some random village, blah blah. They don't want to know about multimillion pound housing complexes for happy, wealthy Africans. If they do talk about such projects, it's never aspirational and is always linked to corruption. This is all done for their own national delusion and self esteem.
      In short, the only way that vast swathes of western populations can live in shit compared to their own wealthy, exploitative countrymen is to perpetuate the myth that having one 50 inch tv in the house makes them middle class compared to other countries that are still in the dark ages.
      The strategy is very effective too. How often do you see dirt poor black people in the west talking disparagingly about 'Africans'?🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @jackiedelvalle
      @jackiedelvalle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mobisolabada8433 Poverty is contextual and relative. Look at the growth of foodbanks in the UK in recent years. I think I heard on the news that 50% of children in London are in families that live below the poverty line. That means their parents are struggling to feed them. That's nothing for us to feel superior about.

    This apartment is SO DOPE. It's beautiful...
    Sujimoto really set his building apart and you truly get major return on your investment!
    One thing that struck me is how luxury interior is expressed differently by different people due to differing taste. Someone like me would like more of an open, airy feel to the interior with as much windows as possible. More obviously natural elements like stone and unfinished wood... and lighter blinds. And I would love if the bedrooms had a less "hotel" feel.

    Before any one starts making noise that one has "bad belle" can I say that this show off, of wealth was not what the Founding Fathers Of Nigeria like Awo,Zik,Macaulay,Balewa wanted for Nigeria. They wanted a more equitable Nigerian Society, whereby the average Nigerian could afford to have a house or a decent standard of living.And this in a nation where an Average Nigerian cannot afford a slice of bread daily. May God Forgive This nation

      Once you point out obvious facts like this, they call you broke.😏 I saw a Nigerian vlogger on TH-cam (not Dimma Umeh... I think her name was Tosin?) who gave a tour of her 1 bed flat. I’ve never seen a 1bed flat giving me decoration inspiration like she did. Lots of plants, lots of use of white bits & pieces to create roominess... .
      I wish Nigerians will realise that a lot the developers who throw “luxury” around are selling something other than actual luxury. This place with African Art Deco & more infusion of our culture (& I know Nigerian designers who do top notch home pieces) would have been incredible.

And houses like this won’t even cost half of the price in this country where I live and which is more than a billion times more developed and civilized than all the countries in Africa put together. If I may spend that amount of money in buying a house,at least it shouldn’t be a semi detached Terrace house where I won’t have my own privacy(I mean my own swimming pool,a gym and maybe a little garden in the compound.
