Can’t find it on Amazon US, but this looks suspiciously similar: amzn.to/3tKuo5F (Can't guarantee anything though.) 2. Tire bead wax: This amzn.to/3gk5c38 seem to be the same I'm using. But other similar products for car and motorcycle tires I'm sure exist. Also called "tire bead lube". Schwalbe also makes a bike specific product called "Tire Easy fit" amzn.to/3TNFykQ but it's not something I have personal experience with.
@@devdroid9606 never used a toothbrush so can’t say. But in my experience bead wax is better than soapy water, for new tires it has basically been a 100% success rate for me. Reused tires can be tricky depending on how clean the tire bead is from old sealant.

I'm not naturally OCD about things like symmetry, I had it beaten into me by the military. Your dedication to symmetry, angles, and measures is approaching therapeutic. If you make a compilation video of just perfectly angled STI levers, I would watch that repeatedly.

Your reasons/rationale for doing X is well researched/reasoned, and when it's not, you're self-aware/self-admit that it's for pure pleasure and not for every average cyclist and just have pure fun with it. Other 'free spirited' channels (e.g. Just watched a Path Less Pedaled vid which is what struck this thought) tend to shove pure preference as fact 'my way is the only way' down your throat to try to capture the masses with clickbait controversy pandering to their echo chambers (where as channels like Peak Torque gives preferences/opinions back it up with evidence and logic). You may not have the absolute largest number of subscribers on TH-cam (as other's have said, you deserve 20x more), but thank you for making honest content (at the highest level. If your content showed up on a Netflix feed, people would think it was a full Netflix studio content!). Keep up the fantastic work Tobias!

Agreed, while you can’t go full internal, the solution they came up with is pretty nice, you can use any cockpit, and easy access to the top headset bearing. And still keep everything reasonable clean up front. The lower you can get the cockpit the cleaner it will look.
@@adityanathanael Just so you have better distribution of clamping force on steerer tube. When you have a little space above you can cut steerer tube flush with stem, otherwise you have to cut steerer tube that 3mm bellow stem to be able to preload headset bearings.

You've tightened the fork expander -before- putting the stem on, hence the steerer there might have expanded & felt tighter than it would if you had put the stem on first, then tightened both.. ideally tighten the expander a bit, then the stem, then the expander again etc etc until you've reached the torque for both. This way you put the least amount of stress on the carbon & prevent it 'bulging' out or crushing inwards. I've seen this happen with forks with thinner steerer walls and might be the case why you saw the Beast Components stem feeling quite tight. This and Beast's quite good/tight tolerances..
you won’t “expand” a thick steerer tube with an expander plug…unless crank that thing with some proper force :) It was super tight before the steerer tube was cut. (Without the expander)
Yes, sorry I’m sloppy… what I meant that I didn’t make a “loose” stem feel tight because I expanded plug first the stem was super tight on the uncut steerer without expander. I’m definitely buy that you could see a measurable difference with the expander… but that was not the reason for the tight stem. And like you point out, tight tolerances is a good thing 👍 Was just an interesting observation I though… Carbon vs aluminum stem. Edit: regardless of stem, I definitely did the the assembly backwards in the video though… which was probably your main point I realize now. Apologies.

Nice build! Yeah... about those wireless updates... There was a new shifter update last week, but it cannot be installed wirelessly.... I asked Shimano what's up... but they didn't know either. For some reason the latest update still needs the shifters to be wired to the rest of the system. I'm going to assume future updates can be done without wiring the shifters to the rest of the system, but that there will be exceptions... :(

About Schwalbe pro ones, really easy to fit in the rim even without soap and wax (I was able to re fit them with a floor pump even with sticky sealant inside) but I have massive leaks everywhere. They keep pressure but I have liquid all around. Sometimea it's caused by dry sealant but even after a refill, same story

19:58 using the HAG to test a new hanger is such a good practice. After testing, I remove the aligned hanger to add to my spares and the use my second hanger (always buy at least two) for final installation and testing. That way I have a tested spare hanger too.

I see it now as you snuck it in without mentioning it when you were talking about the rubber cover/cap! I have a direct mount hanger on my Ostro so it appears in a different location, which it is not. As always, excellent detailed build (without mention of rear mech routing clip 😳)!
Dear Tobias! I would like to ask you, if you have the possibility to answer... I am about to change my old Ultegra R8000 mechanical groupset to the one(R8150) Di2, you are building in this video. Please confirm if in the brake kit ( ST-R8170/BR-R8170) like you are using there is an olive included in the hose/lever combo(on both ends)...? And thank you for your unbelievable work! Huge fan! If you get the kits (caliper + lever) the hose comes mounted to the caliper, so that side you don’t worry about. The olive is already in the lever, so you only cut the hose to length, install the barb, remove the yellow plug in the lever, insert the hose and tighten the bolt. Done! Cheers!
great video. by the way carbon fiber indeed is way stiffer than aluminum, so any part that pressure fits it is going to feel tighter, also the expander does make the carbon tube actually expand making the fit harder.
Well, force applied to something will always affect something to a degree…the point I was pretty sloppy at making 😅, was that the expander in this case was not the reason the stem feel tight, since I was struggling getting it on the uncut steerer tube (without the expander). Also, I don’t think this was an negative, more of an observation of carbon vs aluminum stems I’ve used up until now. Tight tolerances is a good thing 👍
Not for this standard model frameset. The new limited “magma Khamai” seems to have change around either the head tube or the fork to accommodate full internal routing.

Normally I use 1.5mm hex wench as a hook to grab the hose, but the zip tie hack looks awesome!
That works in most cases, but the end of the hose is plugged, so you can't "hook" the inside of the hose. (Unless you want it to get messy)

The olive is already in the lever when you get this as "kit". You will need a new olive if you ever remove the hose though.
