This is a great video and thanks for not making us watch every screw turn like many videos. Video done excellently and leaves me confident to install it.
Thank you for such a great video. You solved my dilemma of how to angle the camera to capture the front of my porch. The anglers fixes my dilemma. Thank you!
The Ring Elite is POE. I don't think there is any actual advantage otherwise. It would be best for those who have poor wifi coverage but it also is recessed mount only so that would be another issue you'd have with the rock wall.
Quick question - Is it a must to hook the bypass power kit if you buy doorbell pro along with wireless chime/chime pro? What if I want to hear the doorbell only on the wireless chime/chime pro but not the existing mechanical doorbell? Can I just use the doorbell pro and the wireless chime/pro to communicate which means I am NOT hooking the bypass kit to the existing mechanical doorbell.
Great basic step by step guide. I agree, thanks for speeding up over the mundane parts. I know if a video is longer than 10 minutes it's full of needless chatter so I pass on them. . Thanks for posting.
Thank you for the video. I noticed the angle brackets you are using in the video are metal but the link you provided is for plastic angle brackets. Are the metal ones available?
One problem.....in the UK virtually no one has a live doorbell.....I had a battery powered Ring doorbell but got fed up of having to charge it every month or two. I’ll look into getting a mains transformer plug.
I am having trouble with my existing doorbell not working. Ring says that my vintage NuTone chime is not compatible? But why? It is putting out 16 volts.
Any recommendations on the RSSI -63 Notification? I am usih 5ghtz Wifi and my devices are achieving 165Mbps. But yet audio quality is delayed, and bad at times. I dont believe the wifi booster is the solution?
Hello in your video you used the angle brackets on the left side of your door. Looks like I will need to use angle brackets but my doorbell is on the right side. Can I still use these same angle brackets that you have linked?
Limar Pin worse case scenario, ring will send you a replacement if your doorbell is stolen as long as you report it soon enough and have a police report.
I wanted to replace my ring doorbell v2. I tried the doorbell 3 plus but didn't like the fact that I have to hardwired and use the battery at the same time jus this the 3 secs preroll. So I decided to get this certified doorbell pro. Since I done the install of a few ring doorbells I tjoght this be fast. I'm handy with wires as I did replaced my old transformer with the 16v one as recommended. That was tricky but not too bad. I added the power kit to my mechanical chime, went through the install step and somehow the blue lights keeps blinking. OK. Called ring support and was told the pro actually have an internal capacitor (battery) that needed a few hours to charge up. OK. after a few hours the spinning white light i needed finally came on, great. Excited. Start the install and it stuck at the join ring network. Somehow that never came on. Call support again. The new guy was saying not enough power. I told him I got the new transformer installed already. He said , skip my old chime and installed the chime wire directly to the power kit. See pictures. I did that. we waited. And install again. Did not work on my phone app. He said try to do on another device like iPad. I did that. Same issue. He told me nothing he can do now. He will put in level 3 support and have them call me back. 4 hours later, no one call. So I decided to Uninstaller the pro and put back my trusty old Ring doorbell v2. Ready to return this garbage. Maybe when pro v2 comes out, I'll try it again.
This might sound like a stupid question, but if there is a part of the plastic wire insulation toughing the screw when you tighten it down at the box in the house, should it still work? I cant get the door bell camera to power up.
Yes its brand new. After looking around online it's my guess that my doorbell transformer isnt the right voltage. I have a 16volt so I just ordered a new 24volt off Amazon
I have power to my doorbell button outside. I currently use my alarm panel as the door chime. I'm looking keep my alarm setup but switch my doorbell camera to Ring. Would I just use the Ring Wifi extender with chime so I have a chime inside?
It depends on the current doorbell. For "newer" systems, you would use the included transformer. support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000081206-Installing-your-Hardwired-Transformer-Kit
It depends on your setup but the basic tools are included as shown here and in my unboxing video. It your configuration is more complex, you will need additional equipment or even an angle bracket. Hope this helps!
Where did you buy your wire splices from? What's the name of them? I worked with a electrician and he had some of those splices, they really come in handy.
HI and thanks for the clear instructions on your videos. I have a HIKvision NVR (on order) and would like to know if it is possible to set up two-way audio to a camera at my front door and somehow use the existing door bell to notify when someone calls so that two-way audio can be established. e.g. when away from home. Thanks
Thank you for the video.I had a similar need for the angle. So your video was very helpful to buy the angle mount and then install them. Did you ever wire your second Ring video doorbell pro? If so, can you please post video of how to setup the two powerkit pros with one mechanical chime (i.e., one transformer)? Thanks again!
Those are wire connectors. It's a more modern wire nut. They should have been a part of the kit. Does the install manual indicate they should be included?
Hello there, am i just gonna install and wired my Ring Doorbell in replacement of my existing doorbell? The wire of the existing doorbell will just be connected directly to the ring doorbell? So the voltage input needed is just the same?
You will need someone to ring your doorbell while you try power breaker switches until the doorbell stops ringing (when the power is disconnected). I would make that breaker switch.
Not sure if you ever found this, but I was able to locate mine as I found the transformer first, then tried that section of my house at the circuit breaker and started installing after ensuring the doorbell was dead.
Your existing doorbell system should be powered by a 16 volt transformer. As this is low voltage, I wouldn’t worry about shutting off the circuit breaker.
i don't have existing doorbell. I've connected the power kit wires directly to the transformer on the wall now My ring doorbell is not getting power and not turning on. any suggestions ? thanks

Hi. The 2 wires outside connect to my chime and the power from my existing doorbell. This model doesn't connect to a breaker panel itself, you would need a battery operated device for that. Not sure what you mean by how much wire is needed beside enough to stretch from the outside install location to the already installed chime. Hope this helps.
If you are Europe, or using a 220/240v system, the setup instructions on Amazon's UK site are the same as the ones I followed when I created this video.
@@markiaj3462 No problem, glad to help out. Be sure to look into the ring door bell and chime bundle whenever you decide to get it, its cheaper than buying them separately.
@@dreday6250 So I got the ring 2 doorbell. Im waiting on the chime but I set everything up. Thing is it is saying my signal is slow. What do I do about that?
As an installer I understand that you don't care to install the Ring yourself. You can easily hire a tech with residential building experience to do it right and many (like me) guarantee their work. No worries.
The Ring doorbell is also a 2-way intercom you can use whether you're home or not. It also lets you easily share your videos with neighbors so you can keep them informed about suspicious activity.
So. There is an existing doorbell. And this is what, just a different ringtone? And you turn off a breaker for a low voltage device? Lameness all around. Jeez. I didn't listen to the audio.
Switching off the panel power breaker is basic and good practice with electrical work. The Ring Door Bell uses the existing wiring in your home to 1- let you know someone is at your door plus 2- live video 3- with audio/sound to communicate with them (anywhere) via your smartphone. You might want to go to the Ring web site and watch the on-line demonstration.

Does your existing doorbell transformer provide enough voltage to the Ring??
Yes, when using the Ring's power kit, the existing doorbell's power supplies enough voltage.

Our existing doorbell is battery operated. Can this device work with our doorbell? The house was built in 60s.
