I remember hearing the Swingle Singers during my last year in high school in '62. I fell in love with them and I'm still in love with them over 60 years later.
Wow. So many of the ‘post original’ Swingle efforts fall flat IMO, but this one has the heart of the original, plus the vocal snare effect....Total win.
And what's this magic you never get tired of? Every time you hear it, like this incredibly touching performance, it feels like you are hearing Bach's masterpiece for the first time...Thank you!
Well, I can't speak for Bach. When I heard this live at Oberlin College in 1969 I was smiling from ear to ear at the great sound and the novelty of the techniques.
I don't know how many times I have listened to this, but it is a lot. But every time I do, the tears flow like Niagara Falls, not tears of sadness but tears of absolute joy. If I feel any sadness it is because Bach hasn't been with us for a long long time; but his music will live forever.

They are as lovely as they ever have been...but I can't get past the distraction of the beat box noises and limited bass vocals. I wish they'd just hire a drummer and string bass player.

I don´t know if Bach was in tears. No one can really say. But I nearly am.
On the surface, this appears to be so easy, but there is nothing easy about what they are doing here. This is greatness at the highest level, PERIOD.
I am one of the camera operators for LiveFromLondon and this concert was definitely my favourite to film.
