Dehumidifiers are fantastic, draw the moisture out of the air and the drier air actually makes the room feels warmer. I bought one thinking it would be another gadget not used but ended up buying a second one and they're not a gimmick. It does what it says on the tin😃
Nice update, ivan 👍 My site shuts in 6 weeks for 7 weeks. Site fees up £120 4 years ago if you didn't have central heating, you had to leave in November.😢Keep them videos coming ivan well done with the veg this year 👏 🐟
As others have said, a dehumidifier could make a big difference in your caravan, Ivan. I have a Meaco which I find a great help for drying washing indoors. Giving the laundry an extra spin is a must for me in the winter months as I don't have working central heating. I'm planning on getting another dehumidifier soon so I have one upstairs and one downstairs.
You really need to get a dehumidifier as all you're doing is building up the moisture in the air and lowering the radiator efficiency. Also, get a cloth and wipe the windows down when you start to see condensation, as it will help stop mold.
Definitely a Dehumidifier Ivan, i have one it is true what everyone says. You will be amazed the amount of water it collects .they are not expensive to run..worth e ery penny, keeps the place warm to.
You definitely need a dehumidifier maybe even two, caravans a notorious for condensation issues, years ago my mum had a holiday caravan and when the site was closing for winter we used to put small buckets off salt around , when we came back in the spring the buckets were full of water but there was no mould anywhere, but nowadays dehumidifier’s are the answer. So pleased to hear the news about the site fees and glad your sore tooth is now better, but you must register with a doctor .❤️
When I had a static w E had a dehumidifier and left on all night in lounge with all interior doors slightly open absolutely brilliant no condensation in morning or damp, getting one is a must.
We sold our static last December when site fees had risen to £5200 a year with virtually no facilities on our site, we had a pub that was originally someone's house, they did meals but they were rubbish a constant turnover of staff. If you wanted a newspaper you had to drive over 2 miles into town down very narrow country lanes.
We have a static caravan on a small non residential site which is open 11 months of the year. The original contract was for 15 years and we have been allowed to extend it for 5 years at a cost of £2,100.00 which we are delighted about.
A dehumidifier would cure the problem with condensation. Do some research first as the prices vary and some have a laundry function which helps to dry washing.
I personally wish I had never sold my home after my husband’s passing. Living in Lodges and Caravans is awful - and I am stuck with my choice till I die. They are cold, dank, damp, dreary and take lots of upkeep. Not good at all for elderly, disabled and those, like me, who are totally alone as well. Bad choice! Site fees here now over £7,000p/a plus all the high (no choice) electric, insurance, gas and myriad other hidden problems and charges. You will NOT be told much when you purchase either..only the “good stuff”.
Ivan , regarding the condensation on your duvet . Look at the 'Aero 360' system . I used it successfully in our caravans for many years with good results . Your problem of course is the fact both you & your wife are breathing , the moisture when you exhale immediately condenses . The drier the air , the less effect from breathing .
Another vote for a dehumidifier. I had a Meaco Arete One 12L delivered today, and am already really happy with it. In 5 hours the humidity has gone down from 75-58%, which is amazing, and it feels a bit warmer, too. I'm not using my heating yet. If you buy one make sure you get a model with castors and a handle, as even a small one like mine is around 11kg and would be tricky to move around without them. Definitely a great buy, and at 4p an hour to run it's not going to break the bank, though I won't have it switched on 24/7 - I'm thinking maybe 6-8 hours a day.
Thanks Ivan, good to see that you are ok now and things are well on the site. Unfortunately when living in a caravan or boat you are effectively in a metal tube with very thin walls but also you have three things that emit water vapour into the air, you, Ginny and the gas fire so it may be a good idea to leave the bedroom door slightly ajar at night then leave the heater on at a low setting all night. I also think that a dehumidifier would be a great addition to battle against the damp. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Hi Ivan another informative video, but I'm a little concerned for your health if your bed covers feel damp during the night, this suggests your bedroom is far too cold and your warm breath is contributing to excess moisture. You do seem fixated about energy usage but honestly during the winter months you do need to keep warm as you will get all sorts of health problems potentially hypothermia or even pneumonia. I would suggest firstly a temperature gauge in your bedroom, you certainly do not want to be getting into bed in a freezing cold room, secondly leave your panel heater on set to at least 16 degrees or even higher, a dehumidifier would be a godsend, and lastly have a regular monthly energy savings space to avoid nasty bill surprises as most people build up credit to allow for extra usage in winter months. You need to definitely register for a GP because sleeping in a damp bedroom is potentially life threatening, sorry to be a scaremonger but trust me you will get ill if you don't take action. Take care both of you Steve
Oh dear, you do need a dehumidifier Ivan. Hubby says gas fires can make a lot of condensation. Also you can get thermostats for your electric heaters. All sounds potentially good with the site though!🤞
Cannot recommend a dehumidifier enough. As others have said they remove litres of water from the atmosphere, warm the air, help dry washing quickly and cost very little to run. My dehumidifier has been a game changer. Last year I had mould develop in my wardrobe (on outside wall of house). Not a problem since then. x
When I had a caravan which had both central heating and double glazing you could still get a damp bedcover on top . A little dehumidifier did the job also keeping the Karcha Window vac handy to draw off any from the window if one of us woke up at night . Important to get registered with gp - health is everything ,
if you are heating/cooking with bottled gas they are renown for the humidity they create. I would as others have said look at getting a dehumidifier as this will also improve the heat in the van as dryer air does feel warmer etc.
B&Q are doing smart dehumidifiers for £98 I’ve bought two there great I just spent £269 on a ebac there just as good and have a drainage pipe included the ebac doesn’t
I'm testing a diesil heater it's a dry heat I ran it for 30 hours and used half a gallon of fuel but can cut that cost by 2 3rds by using keresene bought in bulk and stored in a bonded tank I'm hearing of under 2p a hour when set up properly
So you may have some good news, but damp, condensation on your bedding isnt good, we have never experienced that, but we had heaters low almost 24/7 Sorry but using a dehumidifier in a static caravan is a waste of time and money, as static caravans have so many vents built into them to keep them aired, you will be drawing moist air from out side, it's not safe to block all of these vents off,. Re your site fees rising, if you do move to a residential park, the anual increase is caped at 3%, this I a government ruling, part of the park home act. I've mentioned before, to save money change your gas supplier from calor gas, to and independent one, we pay £65 for the same 47kg cylinder that calour charge £86 for, so it's well worth shopping around.
Really love your channel lots of good advice and help we are in a similar situation to yourself in that we have not registered with a doctor or dentist in September had terrible tooth ache put up with it but any advice on getting medication
@@CaravanLifeUK i wanted to buy a static mobile home on a site but i was shocked at the service fees and ground rent . the idea is lovely but i'm now thinking of emigrating , where council tax / property tax in Spain , Portugal , France etc ... is far , far cheaper than here 🙂
its always bad news for all of us the council tax is going up any way our council is ripping us off mind ya . there broke anyway .but why should we pay for there errors i hope you and her in doors are ok good to see ya
Meaco do a great selection of dehumidifiers, I’ve had one for about three years and it’s fantastic. Just google them and see the selection, hope that helps. Kind regards, Chris.
Maeco and Honeywell both have low energy models approx £145 - £160. My present one is a Screwfix cheap one - about £100 4/5 years ago now getting noisy. Just try to buy one with a 2 year free warranty.

Ivan get a dehumidifier they're really good the amount of water they collect is unreal!!...
Dehumidifiers are the way to go. They'll stop the moisture building up, heaters just evaporate it.
You really need to get a dehumidifier as all you're doing is building up the moisture in the air and lowering the radiator efficiency. Also, get a cloth and wipe the windows down when you start to see condensation, as it will help stop mold.
Dehumidifier Ivan, they take the moisture out of each room, portable and they throw out a lot of heat

Hi, how much do they cost to run for a medium sized one ? thanks

I agree with the people who say get a dehumidifier, I have one and it's works fantastic.
Your ideal humidity should be 45%
Anything over 60% is very bad
Going to look into it Thank you Haiden
Definitely a dehumidifier solve all problems
Correct ventilation is as important as the right choice of heat input. Its a balance thing, made a lot harder by being in a metal box.
We have the same problem living by the coast. Dehumidifier is a must.
our concrete prefab is so much better now we use dehumidifiers in each room and heating on less, it does work

A little something towards a dehumidifier

Woodhall spa if thats not too far away from you.

There will always be people predicting huge increases, I always say you hear the negative stories but rarely the good news which is the majority
I got a throbbing upper molar tooth as i watch this, and no dentist..what and where antibiotics..cheers
Its hard keeping a van warm.
Have you a pull out bed in the lounge.Consider living in one room when really cold maybe.
We leave the bedroom door very slightly open for air flow 👍 hope it helps
The greed in the UK by "authorities" is just staggering and disgusting , imo .
Thank you Beth

Good to see you back 😊
If your site is up for sale then there may be changes coming based on who eventually buys it. I hope it goes well for you.
There's no age limit on our site in Wales.
Great stuff Thank you David
Until they sell the site and the rules change.
Is it true quite a few caravan sites charge you 15% when you sell your van even if your selling it private ?
Best of luck finding a dentist x
Looks like a dehumidifier, it won't be needed much, half an hour a day approx

You need to tumble dry the duvet.
WITH NEW OWNERS YOUR SITE FEES ARE ALMOST GUARANTEED TO GO UP, 20% OF FOOD AND DRINK, THE STAFF IN WETHERSPOON DON'T GET THAT 😅😂.
Yes they do.
New owners will bring a lot of " unknowns" into the mix.
My caravan site ground rent has gone up 2.9% a lot better than last years 9.9%
