      @@edibarat8714 Hi there! Transclucent, rich green jadeite with even texture is the highest valued jade. Then lavender. Blue is much lesser known and usually comes from Guatemala, so I think it’s value in the American market is still yet to be seen.

    Blue jade is the one that “rocks” my world.

    Yellow jadeite is under appreciated in my opinion; especially when you get the semi icy translucent varieties. A bit of glossy yellow on a lavender backdrop looks so gorgeous and unique compared to the everyday expected green and white.

    Great video! I love jadeite! One of my favorites is red jadeite. It’s a deep orangey, reddish brown color. Jordan is right…even if it’s opaque, it’s beautiful. Touching it, rubbing it against your skin, is soothing to me.

    Loving the podcast, I do find interesting how the elements giving the jade a lavender color is still sort of a mystery even though most of them come from Manganese, but then there are other elements that *can* give jade a purple color, but can't be traced back somehow.

    • @JewelsoftheTrade
      @JewelsoftheTrade  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lavender jade is definitely tricky! GIA wrote a fantastic article where they compared color-causing elements of single-crystal jadeite by testing spodumene, which is absolutely fascinating. Highly recommend!

      @@JewelsoftheTrade what do you mean by definitely TRICKY? does it mean very difficult to find or what else? Thanks

    • @JewelsoftheTrade
      @JewelsoftheTrade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@edibarat8714 In context, I meant identify the source of lavender jades color can be tricky. Single crystal jadeite can be lavender. Jadeite with high levels of manganese and low levels of chromium can be lavender. But the science is complicated and some gemologists won’t make a call on whether or not the lavender is natural depending on the stone. It’s honestly not something I completely understand!

    • @edibarat8714
      @edibarat8714 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JewelsoftheTrade so lavender color is still mysterious & doubtfully natural jade jadeite 🤔

    • @JewelsoftheTrade
      @JewelsoftheTrade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@edibarat8714 Lavender jade can still be natural. For instance, when you buy from Mason-Kay, our lavender jade is guaranteed natural. We buy from cutters who we know use lavender rough, and our gemologist does test for the authenticity of lavender color. It’s just that some labs won’t test for it because they don’t trust the reliability of their results due to lack of knowledge, equipment, etc. Some lavender color origin reports are inconclusive even from our gemologist when we do testing for other people - it just depends on the piece and the elements present according to mass spectrometry.

    Please tell me personally which is more important to choose the best quality of jade jadeite:the color or the transparency?
    Is it true that if wearing jade jadeite for a long time it could be a change into stronger color? Thanks.

    • @JewelsoftheTrade
      @JewelsoftheTrade  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Great questions. You might be interested in my video, Jadeite Buying Guide, where we discuss the three jadeite quality factors in order of importance: color, translucency and texture. For high quality jadeite, you must have all three. Natural (untreated) jadeite jade will not change color over time. However, the beeswax coating may wear off and it may absorb other oils in place of the beeswax giving it an apparent change in luster. We recommend wearing natural jade often and touching it so that your skin oils keep it lustrous, or putting a small amount of baby oil on the stone if needed.

    Why there is no Omphacite Jadeite jade? Or no supply has done from the Myanmar? Because Omphacite black jade is one of best and famous jadeite jades.
    Thank you for information.

    • @JewelsoftheTrade
      @JewelsoftheTrade  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I’m not sure I understand your question. We have a video that discusses Omphacite Jade in our Expert Interviews playlist that may answer your question.
      We didn’t feature ALL of the types of jade in this video, as it was focused on the colors of jadeite jade most available to the market.
      A couple of notes that may be helpful:
      -Omphacite Jade (also called fei cui along with jadeite jade and kosmochlor) has been found in both Myanmar and Guatemala. (And a negligible amount in some other areas as well.)
      -Omphacite Jade is not always black, it can also be green. Also, not all black jade is omphacite jade.
      -“Omphacite-Jadeite Jade” refers to a mineral aggregate with both omphacite and jadeite. Some jades are majority omphacite, some are majority jadeite - but due to limitations in testing, some test results indicate an equal or near-equal amount of both. The terminology is extremely confusing and something we’ll discuss in detail in a future video. :)
