This was a dream bike of mine back in the day in Brisbane, Australia...I use to ride to the Yamaha dealer on my 89' FZR250 and drool over this bike. Man, to only have a time capsule now! Still looks Tough AF! - Beautiful - Thanks for sharing!!
No worries, very underrated bikes in U.K, most covet the CBR900 Fireblade, and almost forget this came before the almighty R1. Glad you enjoy, happy to share. What do you rode now ?
I had exactly the same bike, cost me new in 95 £8550, sold it around 03 for £ 2000, i do miss it a little bit, but i now have an owo2 R7 that i px,d the 750R in for, £9000 cash + £2000 px got me the R7 for £11K,.
@@DeanAllen Can you tell me a bit about pricing? I hope it's not too rude to ask! How much did you buy it for and how much was it worth fixed? I got the exact same bike. I don't know anything about bike mechanics though. I'm considering fixing or selling my bike though. Don't ask me how I got it ... it's a really long story, but lets say i got it for free. It needs some work though (tires, chain, sprockets, oil change etc.).
@@jandejonge205 Hello I had got this bike in winter time at a bargain £1250 or there abouts, can't remember the exact amount now. I cleaned it, fixed the fairing and sold it for £1600 in very good condition with low ish miles upto 20k there are now worth around £2-2.5K mint you can go to £3-£4K maybe, the price is ever increasing as they become more rare, and people appreciate just how good they are. My new one was £995 but is a bit of a money pit, I have sourced decent parts cheap, but it owes me in excess of 2k now all in. BUT they are worth every penny.
@@DeanAllen Awesome! Thanks for the info. Mine is in worse condition. It has been sitting, needs new oil, oilfiler, chain, sprocket, tires and brakepads. Maybe more. I think I'm looking at around 700€ of parts. Now the story of how I got this bike is more complicated. I got it for free basically. Two dudes parked their bikes at my grandparents house, because the Suzuki GSFR 1100 (the other bike) had a hole in the motorblock. They didn't come to pick them up within two weeks so my grandparents called the police, turns out the bikes werent insured. One day someone else comes to pick up the bikes. Police is informed and takes the keys and his id. Now tons of time passes while the police tries to find the original owners. Turns out the owner is in jail and a bad criminal. My grandparents wrote a letter to him and his accountant how to return the bikes and ask for a compensation for parking the bikes so long. They never answered. Later they reported the bikes to the lost and found. Because no one claimed the bikes within a timeframe the bikes are now legally mine. I just got my A2 license and am pretty new to motorcycles. So it will be hard to fix, but I think I should try ... Thanks again.
hi, thank you for the YZF 750 video, I have a 93 grey and purple and i need the front fairing.. any idea where i can buy one used or new ? Thank you Manuel
6 piston calipers were superb is that why so many guy like myself go out and buy a set of blue or gold dots and do the swap due to the rotors warp on the yzf750 bikes and if you're asking why when you have 6 piston calipers you would go to 4 piston well it seem to solve the problem of rotors warping and why did Yamaha go back to 4 pistons when the r1 has around 150 hp and the yzf 750 has 120 hp with 6 piston the 4 piston must work just as good I like the gold there lighter due to ceramic pistons you also need the break master cylinder from an r1 or r6 to match the 4 piston calipers you also need rotors from a Ducati 916 or other bikes that use those rotors due to the little round things on the rotors hit the brake pads if you keep the 750 rotors now you can just shave a little off the ends of the pads of the blue or gold dots and they'll miss
Yours is in very good condition!!! I just bought one, but needs restoration. Exactly the same model and colors! Do you have any idea where I can find the decals?
I bought the decals my self from a company ( online ofcourse) problem is, this was for the Blue and Pink model, this black and red has long gone to another owner. The blue and pink is not quite a match to original and not Pearlescent. They would look good on a newly painted bike, where not matching to any original colours, but I never used them in the end. If I find some time, I will dig them out and show on a video. There maybe the info of where I bought them. They may do others for later bikes. Was a bit annoyed when they arrived and not exactly the same.
@@DeanAllen I though the mismatched colours might be the case when it's not the original ones. I might look into a different solution: airbrushing the whole decals. Thank you so much for your response!!!
Nice piece. Did they come with öhlins standard? Always thought thats a mod and the standard susp. is kinda weak? Thinking about getting one of these, super high quality for their age and time. Still up to standard if you didn't need abs and EFI 😃 Future classic . Can't afford a SP Version though.
Sold it not long after getting a few years ago now. That is why I bought the first gen one, but that was too much of a money pit in the end. Lovely bikes though.....
I think if the '93 had not sat for 8 years relatively unprotected it too would have been flawless. Was nice by the time I finished with it, but couldn't afford to keep spending money if something else did go wrong. Hope you have luck finding that dream machine.
Sorry to piss on your chips but the 6 pot breaks are shit they really are go blue spot much better by the time you read this I guess you will have gone that route I have 4 of these and they are a bloody good bikes there is a youtube up load where one beats an r1 on track worth looking at they are so under rated its just not true much better than the Honda Fireblade in my humble opinion which over shadowed this bike on launch For anyone thinking or wondering should I get one justdo it you will not be dissapointed unless you buy a pile of crap but that's up to the individual to do their homework Thanks for your time re up load made good viewing Cheers !!!!

One of the most underrated bikes of all time
Could not agree more , means you can still find at a relative bargin price though.

I regret selling it on, was only to be a quick money spinning project, which it was, but still I regret it now !

I buy one yesterday saturday morning of the 97 for only 350 bucks
In theory an absolute Bargain!!!
But then mine was only £1000, and turned into a money pit. We all hope yours is a lot better. Good Luck my friend!

Yes the Ohlin shock is standard, they are up there with CBR's etc for build quality, surprised me, I am usually a Honda Man !
Yes standard and way better than cbr
What a bike
Yes indeed, very much uderatted as a bike, due to the Fireblade, but without this the R1 would not have been.
U selling it I sold mine exactly like yours with only 13k and I miss it
