I'm really enjoying your videos of Nevada ghost towns. I grew up in Sacramento County and did a lot of exploring in Nevada back in the 70s. it never got out to enough places though. I have some rare books on the old local history. One of them is "Ghosts of the Glory Trail," by Nell Murbarger, published in 1954. She did a thorough job. There are vivid descriptions of towns that have changed a lot since when she found them. So the book is a good "moment in time." sort of look at these places.
Thank you so much. Glad you are enjoying our pins. Some of those old books are amazing reads especially if they have photos of what the towns and camps looked like back in the day.

About 15 years ago, me and nearly all my family members got together and moved the 1 room school house that my grand-parents went to up until the 8th grade. We had it moved on-to our land so we could have it refurbished. Inside, and the entire, outside. After, it was fully finished, we had it moved again, much closer to one of the main roads that cut through our county, and our farm, so folks that want to see it, can. We are, 4th-Generation-Montana-Dry-Land, Farmers. Outside of Sydney.

Yes we have these same little conversations as we approach these areas, they were a real feat and a testament to the human spirit to make a living! It is around 70 or so miles from Las Cruces in a very historic and storied area of New Mexico. Thank you for watching!
They were farming, and that's how they supplied with food.
I love old places like this. They're real opportunities for photo shoots, and canvas paintings!
We love them too! As long as the lens cap is off of your camera you won't be able to take a bad picture!
@@PinInTheAtlas oh my gosh, I've heard of people leaving their lens caps on their cameras. Just tell everyone that those pictures were shot at night, LOL!
@@bonnieharris8112 Yes exactly!
Wow! I absolutely ❤️❤️❤️ love your channel! Thank you for your absolutely amazing Vids! 👏👏😍💓
We truly appreciate your kind words, Lyneeta! Thank you for your enthusiasm and support of our channel!
Wow that's really a good place to live there
That part of the country, it was still the "wild west" well into the 1930s. Read about the Bronco Apaches. Very interesting history.
Btw, your accent is delightful.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video. What a great little town. Glad there keeping it up .
Yes, we are pleased to see the BLM are keeping it up as well. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love old books, you can smell the history on them. ❤
Yes, there is something so magical about them, they are the gateway to our imagination!
Found you all through SJWH. New sub here. I like the reserchand info you share. I do not watch the trashed places with graffiti, too depressing. This school house and Ghost Town video is right up my alley. Thanks.
We were experimenting with the montage type vid, as we wanted to show people the whole walking trail. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your support.
Great video, as usual. Such a lovingly well-taken care of ghost town.
It was very nice to visit.
By observing "ENJOY BUT DO NOT DESTROY YOUR AMERICAN HERITAGE" we could eliminate a lot of the social unrest/cancel culture we are seeing today!
haha, sorry but the Confederacy was cancelled in 1865.
Yes indeed I love are country 🇺🇸 the good an bad
"Good thang you folks stayed on ther trail. I kinda got the feelin' you's bein' watched. Ne'er can tell when an arrow be a comin' from one o' those bushes."😉
The safes didn't blow around. They were carefully put there by thieves. Not sure what happens to the doors. They always seem to be missing.
Safe doors are off bc ppl blew them off looking for loot...
Really appreciate your reverent presentation of these historical structures despite their dilapidated condition. Andrea's wonderful accent and pronunciations remind me of my childhood in Jamaica (1954-1959). Also, I get a good chuckle from your outtakes. Keep up the very good content. My suggestion for your videos is to group them in a given locale. That way I get the feeling of vacationing where I can't go in my wheelchair, e.g. Florida, New Mexico, Idaho; or, regionally, SE US, NW US, Northern California, Southern California, etc. Thanks for putting all your pins in my atlas!
So glad you are enjoying our pins and are able to come along with us. It does take a lot of time doing the research of these historic sites, plus finding them in the first place. We do have them grouped together on different playlists. Some more than others. Hope that helps, David.
Awesome, I love these historic places!!
We do too, they are a real time capsule of human ingenuity!
@@PinInTheAtlas Whether it’s a museum or an abandoned place, always interesting these time capsules
@@martinxplo Yes that they are
Very cool (figuratively). I bet they don't have a mosquito problem there.
Just very appreciative of you guys for producing these videos!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching and so glad you are enjoying our content. We have since got better mics, so our more current videos do have better sound quality, and we are learning all the time.
My 2015 visit was on an open day but unfortunately the caretakers were absent so the school museum was closed. Thanks for the interior coverage. Back then the mine with the glory hole was stated to be still private property (as were some of the old homes). There were no self-guided paths then either. Wonder why old safes are usually found with no doors. Hmm...
We always love the fact that they are now found in the strangest of locations!
You should check out Shakespear, NM. It is just south of Lordsburg, NM. Also, Hachita, NM in the bootheel of the state.
Hey Glenn, we have been to Shakespear and were given a private tour which was incredible. We did film, but the wind noise and we didn't have mics so the sound quality was quite poor. Maybe we will get back there someday.
I think you would enjoy pie town New Mexico also , Never been there but have seen many pictures and stories about Pie Town New Mexico. The story about the area is about a woman that bake pie and sold them up on the highway for extra money . It all started from there.
Hello D, we have been to Pie Town and done a video on it. One of our very early ones, so the sound quality is poor. We thoroughly enjoyed the town and the people we met there!
Love the rocky mountain states and my favorite part is the 4 corners area.
I would love to hike out there.
Nice video! Thanks. You let those few Dangers scare you away from entering the mine? LOL!!!
Thanks. And if it wasn't for those unstable ladders.........!
Love it. Very good video. Thank you.
Thank you, we truly appreciate that!
Another great tour and pin in the atlas! And as always enjoyed the outtakes!
Thank you so much for your continued support of our channel!
@@PinInTheAtlas You are welcome! I always look forward to seeing your videos!
enjoy your videos you need to come up around battle mountain nevada
Keep watching, Deanna. We spent a couple of weeks in Winnemucca exploring abandoned mining camps. Those will be out soon. We film about 6 weeks out.
Thanks you guys really enjoyed this episode hopefully I'll get to see this place in person
Thank you Lori, so great to hear from you and glad you enjoyed this video. We are planning to be back in your neck of the woods in a few weeks time. What do you say we go put Another Pin In The Atlas together?
Ohhhh my goodness Im so excited please come over im in Louisiana at the moment but will be getting back in next week going to bring you guys some bodin back with me whoop whoop !!!!!
@@lorigiltner1117 Great really looking forward to it! We are in Texas at the moment will text or call when we are in the area! Super excited!!
I went to an old school that was smaller then this school, Happy Valley in Santa Cruz Ca. The school was a two room school, but it worked.
That sounds interesting, William. Smaller classes make the teaching more personal and enjoyable in our opinion.
@@PinInTheAtlas The school only had maybe 80 students 1st through 7th grades
This place is about a 2 hour drive from me. I was last there a couple of years ago. You two gave a real good vid tour. I would recommend if you are planning on visiting, get there early, you could spend many hours touring what's left of this ghost town. You won't be disappointed. So, I hope you two stopped and got a burger at the general store in Hillsboro, if you didn't you really missed out. Or if you traveled the other direction, if you didn't stop at Sparky's in Hatch. Man, you really missed out. NM True!
You are the second person to tell us about the General store and we have to say that unfortunately we did miss out. That just means we may have to go back! Thank you for the wonderful comment!
@@PinInTheAtlas You won't be sorry my friends. There are an abundance of treasures to be found around here. You might enjoy being here for a while. Hit me up. Did you find Chloride?
@@guru6725 Chloride is on our list along with a host of other sites we've been researching.
If you guys ever get to Ga. Check out Mahalia Jackson.she is simultaneously a celebrity here a seer of sorts. Also John Walace. Their stories are inter twined .he was big wig who murdered so my and she saw where the body was supposedly. (Murder in Coweta county.books written about it.!
Thanks Carol. Email us the info and if you have any more suggestions please send them our way. info4pinintheatlas@gmail.com
The main mine is just north of town and can be seen from the highway as you go north
Didn't now that, Ron.
If that place is deserted I'm surprised the old school wasn't cleaned out.
There are two caretakers on site at all times. The school does get locked up at night as well.
A lot of times the riff raff doesn't like to get that far off the pavement, it's scary out here , 'things that eat the tender and the residents are a stiff backed sort, armed and not kindly disposed to brigands and vandals. Lotta deep holes in this country....
LOL LOVE YOUR BLOOPERS JUST SUB GOT MY WIFE WATCHING YOU GUYS TY MUCH FOR WAT YOU DO..💯✌️
Louie, thank you so much we truly appreciate that and are glad you have come aboard. We have so many more adventures to come. Our Gila Cliff dwelling video has some good bloopers in it and so does Kentucky Camp!
Wow good size town dump
very intereststing tour
Glad you enjoyed it Gary. We were attempting something new with the music and wanted to show people the entire self guided walk. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy the rest of our content
I believe that is a 1935 Plymouth Sedan. Probably worth north of $2K on the market.
That wee Chapel to me felt well oppressive I wonder how it really felt back in the day ?
I just stumbled upon you Channel today and already subscribed. Fantastic work. Have you ever considered investing in a drone? You add some drone footage in and wow it would add a whole new dimension to you already fantastic coverage.
Thanks,
Thank you very much we truly appreciate that. We did have a drone and it broke first time out. We are actively looking into purchasing one that doesn't require us to take a test to operate. Do you have any suggestions on any particular ones?
Check out the Mavic air 2. I did some research they seem pretty solid and I know other you tubers use them. Biggest drawback is they are pricey.
@@dennishough3709 Thank you Dennis. Yes, that one is quite pricey! We will need some more Patrons to afford that right now! It is definitely on our list of things to help improve our channel.
Yes I would love live there peace and quiet not depressional stressful no traffic no crime no people around no traffic no noise if you're the owner of that place let me know I would love to live there I live in Deming New Mexico for four and a half years working on a farm and landscaping I do not own a car but I would love to go there if you want me to
