16:35 Has anyone else ever noticed that this cover is an homage/parody of the poster for the movie “Twins” with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito. The timeline adds up perfectly.
@@futurepastvintagecollectables I literally don’t think anyone else has put that together. I’ve done an exhaustive amount google searches about it and found no mention of it.
Yes, there is one on the lower left of the front cover that takes some looking to see. It’s probably a VF+. The book is solid as a whole, but these are SUPER tough to find in grade. People who had the wherewithal to get these types of books in grade just aren’t parting with them, which is a sentiment I can relate with.
Every time I watch this show I see more books I need. I have almost exactly the same taste as you Dave . You haven’t brainwashed me - I’ve just matured! Bill Callaway has spoken.
hey dave, hey rachel, hate to say it, but i bought that space family robinson off the newsstands, possibly gold key was just as important to me as the big two, that said,....ive got at least 3 copies of that book,.....george wilson was the cover artist and workhorse cvr artist for gk then.....underappreciated,..... like the 70s horror, to m, it doesnt compare well to the precode stuff, but it is its own little niche for sure, higher the grade the better.... they may not be worth much, but its nice to see you throw attention at some of those independent #1's too......... glad you made it back safe.........
Love this question! Ok, not in order: DC 100 Page Super-Spectacular #4, House of Secrets #92 and probably House of Mystery #175 due to its scarcity in grade, but I like House of Secrets #83 just as much. I read them growing up. I really loved non super hero books as a kid, but read a lot of other stuff too. It’s more about the cover art at this stage in my life, but there is a ton of sentimental draw to these books because of the stories. I read a lot of EC reprints growing up as well, along with things like Ripleys Believe It Or Not.
@@futurepastvintagecollectables Thanks . I look them up and see if I can pick one up . I collected comics as a kid but the popular ones . But once I started watching your TH-cam channel and seen what was available back in the day and the art is amazing. Thanks for your time . Keep up the great work !
As always, I learn and see something new with you guys. I truly appreciate your knowledge and overall approach to collecting. See ya in your claim sales!
It doesn't get any better than Joe Kubert Bronze Age war covers. Mix in a little horror on those covers, and you have nothing but pure gold. That Weird War Tales #1 is absolutely gorgeous and is on my want list. Dave, you would love HeroesCon in Charlotte. Best comic book convention, in my opinion.
Hate to be that guy but I had so many of these issues bought them as they came out, now they're gone. Grundy sad. Always enjoy your vids, just love the Dad and Daughter aspect, so awesome. Keep 'em coming! Best to you both!
I love your videos from day one. Thank u guy's I always learn something new every time like on this one ..if I'm not wrong u please correct me Dave and Rachel ... That detective comics Batman is not the first omage cover from terminator 1 movie ? The move was release on 1984 and this cover is from 1987 What u guys think. ? Maybe someone else did another between years but..🤔 Anyways that's why I like it so much your videos.!!! I always found something new and cool on them .. Great add like always . Pd : Dave... The comics u buy on comic con are dope ,;) 👊💪
Wow thanks for your show. i'm from winnipeg and just learned about this pedigree from you. i actually have met the guy who co-owned it. He talked about his massive collection but I had no idea it was worthy of a CGC label!
No, but there are a lot of books that aren’t available in grade EVER that I am always on the hunt for. DC 100 page super spectacular #4 is a good example.
Future, Past, Vintage, I just got AMS#129 CGC 5.0 but I am saving up now to get TMNT#1,HulK#181, X-Men#1 1963 and Cerebus#1 and I was wondering do you think all these books will hold there value????

I think your right! I didn’t put that together until you mentioned it.

That Weird Mystery is definitely the belle of the ball. And Charlton horror is right behind.

Believe me when I say, I will pick up any copy in grade.

Since you like bronze age a lot, is there a grail books that you have wanted but have never seen in any grade and don't know anyone who has it either?
No, but there are a lot of books that aren’t available in grade EVER that I am always on the hunt for. DC 100 page super spectacular #4 is a good example.
