"ONE-HUNDRED MILLION! AH AH AH." He's like Count Von Count's evil cousin. Any of 4A's three endings could be cannon because they all ultimately lead to the same result. I once heard the sentiment that the hard mode should have had May Greenfield defending the cradles just to double down on how much of a bastard you were, but I guess that wouldn't work on you. "The blood of the innocents would rain down from the cradles" "YEEEAAHAHHHAA! YES YES YES!":D So, Arteria Carpals! Charging into the middle against 4 opponents is sure to get you wasted unless you're really, really good. Generally you want to split them as best you can. Then the biggest concern is ammo. The one nice thing is that if you beat it at all you're pretty much guaranteed an S rank. But my personal recommended approach is to take the Torus Kojima arms, a left back Kojima cannon, the strongest assault armor, the shoulder assault amplifier and a backup back weapon (I use kojima missiles). If you start charging both Kojima weapons at the beginning, then wait on the wall until they show up, then hover up to their level? It takes some practice, but you can fire the arms at Otsdarva, one shotting him, then adjust your aim, fire the back cannon at someone else, then if you trigger the assault armour at the right time take them out too. Bam, 2 out of 4 (or 5) enemies down before the mission even starts. Then you can hide on the outside of the wall to charge and hop over it into the fight to get a shot with them before jumping back over. Rinse and repeat.
+Loop Stratos Humanity kept on living in all three endings. The point was that the cradles always fall sooner or later one way or another and the earth is always poisoned even worse (and it can be inferred that with the cradles down there's nothing stopping the assault cells from being destroyed), leading to the setting of ACV.
+Buster TBM Gameplay Just to clarify, the back cannon you'll want is the Torus one (Arsenikon, I think), the most powerful Assault OB is the SOBRERO (the one used by Fragile) and the assault amplifier part (P-Marrow) is obtained from the Defend Carpals mission on hard. After that it comes down to timing and positioning. Otsdarva is easy to hit because he's the lead target, so you lock onto him first, but adjusting your aim to he next target in time is more tricky, and the hardest part is the Assault Armor, since you have to set it off before they reach you so that it goes off right when they pass by for maximum damage. Oh, and mind Roadie, his bazookas stun you and cancel your charge.
A) I'm of the opinion that the ORCA Path is canon. B) I like the touch that Otsdarva drops the Thermidor facade because of you and Old King ruining the ORCA name and calling you out on it if he kills you. C) Random Trivia: Did you know Old King was actually the leader of the group that took over Cradle 21 in the earlier missions? D) I know you can defend the Cradles against Old King in the League path but I think it would have been cool in the ORCA Path if there was a mission where you could kill him as well. E) I usually do the Carpals mission with the machine gun arms which have a RIDICULOUS amount of ammo and the back mounted Rail Cannons with the AA Amplifiers on the shoulders and just wait for them to fly in on the V.O.B.s and blow up right in their faces.
C: wow really? that is super interesting, nice to know that little deails, always thought they were a bit out of nowhere D: I agree with that, ORCA in my opinion would do something about it realisticly
Another nice little dynamic that I like is the banter between Old King and Otsdarva in "Occupation of Arteria Carpals" when Old King asks him "You think it's your right to choose between who lives and dies?" referencing how Otsdarva as Thermidor is willing to sacrifice many lives with the Closed Plan while condemning your actions at the same time.
Destruction is the canon ending. Remember, this is Miyazaki and he is about cycles. The League and ORCA are one of the same. Just different leaders, same outcome: war. Ultimately, even this ending was for naught as the ending credit will say that you've gone down in history as one of the people who killed a lot (meaning you were stopped). We also see this in ACVD. J, AI that took after the protagonists from AC4 and AC4A had the same philosophy.
Mega cheap: Long barrels go through the outer walls. Can fire thru. Bullet clipping only works in one direction. Easy shot swithout being hit. See also: Assault armour over and over again also goes thru the wall.
I remember when I played this mission, there were only two ways I could ever beat it on normal, and one of those on hard. I had to have the unlimited energy regulation on and the build that beat both modes was just blades on a light weight with the strongest overboost and back/side mounted boosters. The other build, which is much more fun and affectionately called the REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, was a medium weight with the arm integrated machine guns and also dual shoulder mounted gatling guns. It actually could be hard mode but unfortunately doesn't have enough ammo to take out all 5 NEXTs.
That's a good thing hearing Buster to say that destroying the Cradles is a disgusting mission, if he would ever be an AC Pilot the chances of Humanity surviving might be high. =)
Loop Stratos Oh yeah, considering that he lose in previous missions =( (Not destruction path) Like in the mission that you need to defeat Wynne D and another dude.
People talking how the Old King is crazy and evil, but the one who pulls the trigger, kills the mercenaries and fly away at the end to kill even more is the main character, who if you think about it, is just completely insane from the beginning. Something I always like to imagine is how the music is supposed to be the characters feelings, with the Cradles mission Remember plays, with lyrics being the choral singing Amen, Amen, probably the poor souls singing to their end, while the main character sings the rest, "So I'm Scary, oh I'm scary, now I'm scary, all that I see, now I'm scary, all is fantasy", realizing what he is and just telling that nothing is even real anymore. While the last and first mission, Scorcher plays, which has some simple lyrics: "I have a Chrome Head, pound it hound, I have steel arms, turn it break it"; which I'm not sure has any profound meaning, but the main character simple mind, not caring about anything and just calling the world to beat him if they can, especially at the final mission.
They should have played fall from the original armored core 4, so it's like everything came full circle. Because this was what Joshua was trying to achieve. Given what Anatolia's Mercenary said to you, and that he betrayed you in the end.
Occupy Arteria Carpals is like the Sans battle of Armored Core. What you're doing and what you're going to do afterwards is so utterly disgusting, but the battle is so gruelingly difficult you have to celebrate beating it, at least just a little. Interestingly, if I recall correctly, in the Japanese version Old King outright states he doesn't think ORCA will actually win and so he just wants to kill as many people as possible before he dies, and he thinks you stand a chance of killing much more than him. He's right on both accounts, in the end. ORCA is a façade and only Strayed is strong enough to defeat literally every AC pilot in existence, even four (five on Hard) of the most elite pilots that remain.

It reminds me of the Genocide ending in Undertale. (not gonna say anything else about that cause spoilers) I mean, how much of an asshole do you need to be, in order to get your operator to pick up a NEXT and try to kill you?
It wasnt. It actually was justified completely. Oldking wasnt some kind of lunatic (well he ended up as one at the end as wars do things to people). You have to realize that this is connected to AC4 and the story there is that The League plunged the world into chaos and destruction for the sake of profit. AC4A was the climax of that. They built far bigger weapons that would eventually kill the world. Old King was the dude that wanted to punish them. ORCA was the "best" option but he saw through it. ORCA is just another League. Which is why he goes "you get to choose who lives and who dies?" Old King also puts you down whenever you sortie together for being an obedient tool. A lap dog. Because that is what you come across. It is also a reference to Joshua from AC4 and how he became the final boss. The League orchestrated wars and profit from it while they fly up in the sky free from the toxic pollution and blame for said wars. ORCA is under Otsdarva as well. His plan was the same as The League's. Except, not Cradles but space. They want to replace The League. Not actually change the world and save it. Old King was to so just that. A blank slate for humanity. To make them wise up or die if they dont. A mercy killing for those who choose to be ignorant and enabling the League to destroy the world. This is why this is the canon ending. It releases the world from the cycle of wars. You become its greatest enemy and you band them altogether. You also crush the oppositions so that none may choose to create wars for any gain other than your death.
It’s not “just because”. All is corrupt. The corporations have their grubby hands in everything, the only solution is to eradicate them to the last person.

Tool 5000 damage with a blade quad only and from everygame on i have the same ac named "one man army" lol
And then you had to lose to Ultimate Zinaida 5 times. Welp.
I guess this wasn't my week, haha
I have to agree with you, this is not the canon ending to For Answer, its disgusting...
