My impression of Dany's miscarriage was that it wasn't intended by Miri. She explicitly told her not to enter the tent once the ritual began, after all. So even if the ritual caused it, which it might not have, Miri can't be held accountable for it morally speaking. Not to mention its entirely possible it was a natural miscarriage because Dany was so young (like... 13?!?!), she'd had a poor diet of mostly horse meat for the entire pregnancy, wasn't in great health due to being unused to long distance horse riding, was extremely stressed out by her circumstances even before Drogo was dying from his wound and the fact all she had for her healthcare was (let's be honest) very primitive tribal medicine not even at the level of medieval times (which were also, by our modern standards, absolutely appalling). So her miscarrying naturally isn't hard to believe at all. And Miri had no cause to deny Dany's accusations either - she knew it didn't matter what she said in her own defence, she just wanted to inflict a little more pain and vengeance for the suffering and death of her entire extended family. And throwing in the cherry on top of telling Dany she'd never have a child was just out of pure spite (and maybe the hope she'd take it seriously and not try again so she wouldn't fulfil the prophesy. Which is a big brain move on her part because it worked a treat, at least so far, and made Dany's life miserable.
I really like that idea. I think it also speaks to Danys future choices as well. She could have escaped the khalasar with Jora, sold the eggs and raised her child. Instead she chose BLOOD MAGIC. I think it foreshadows her future choices for power in detriment of peace
It's complex - If Dany's miscarriage was her fault, that has a lot of narrative weight. But it seems pretty common that Targaryen women sometimes give birth to horrible half-dragon abominations. That would mean that the miscarriage fundamentally means nothing, since it was going to happen no matter what.

So, an expansion on the Danny flynt being cold hands theory. Her story parallels Jon’s in a few ways, primarily that she’s 100% committed to duty and hates oath breakers. Similar to Jon getting revenge for the death of lord commander Mormont. Her death is similar to Jon’s in that both were murdered by their brothers while doing their utmost to fulfill an oath they volunteered to take. Neither were criminals or coerced into it, both sincerely admired the ideals of the watch and what it represents. If cold hands is Danny, and were to hear about what happened to Jon, she could potentially have a hand in, or resurrect him herself. If she turns out to truly be an attractive girl they could end up being the new sort of nights king and queen. He commands the watch, and both are now wights or half wights? This also fits into the theory of Jon being changed, he’s always cold now stuck in the same sort of half life Danny is.

hilariously, the Frey Civil War is likely when most of the Westeros-based characters' romantic subplots will play out, by hookup or breakup or even marriage (though whether they SURVIVE past getting together is Another Thing Entirely). Every faction can benefit from marrying or preventing the marriages of Freys: different branches of House Frey hold The Twins (getting to & from The North), Riverrun (getting in/out of the Westerlands), Castle Darry (a good stopover between the Riverlands & King's Landing), and others still via being the last legitimate-ish heirs to Houses that have been wiped out during the wars. "Gatrhouse Amy", if given character development, could act as a rather literal Key for whichever faction gives her the best option as a groom. Amy is the current heir to Castle Darry, her sister is Lady Bolton & thus could very well prompt Amy's throwing in with Robb Loyalists OR with Stannis, depending on who's holding Winterfell. My HC is that Amy will marry the current knight of the Bloody Gate (I forget whether he's a Blackwood or a Talhart but he's Sansa-sympathetic), enabling Robb Loyalists in The Vale to get into The Riverlands, get Robb Loyalists/Stark Sympathisers in shouting distance of each other, and enable troop movement from East-West (& possibly South-North). ofc, House Darry was traditionally & secretly loyal to House Targaryen... so AEGON might get a foothold in the Riverlands (though it's highly unlikely any Frey will get a shot at courting him).
The wildlings make plenty of sense if you think think of the wall as a literal manifestation of borders. That's where the line is drawn. It's arbitrary, may have taken some time to get there but it's defined by othering and exclusion and defended with violence.

I interpret wildlings as initially not being north/existing (they say thousands of years ago) of the wall. Because it was built to keep the danger away AKA the others. They gradually forgot what purpose it serves. The nights watchmen kept leaving and the word went around : if you want to live free from the kings you despise, go north of the wall. Huge clans built themselves. Natural rivalty occurs between loyalists and Exiles. Just like every other culture ever.

The "Petyr started Roberts Rebellion" theory is that Littlefinger came up with the Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna lie and told Brendan, who was coming after him for getting Lysa pregnant and running after her at the time. They would have all been at the inn at the crossroads at the same time, so he could have seen Lyanna go with Rhaegar and stretched the truth to piss off Brendan and deflect his anger to Rhaegar. It's not that he did it on purpose but rather he saw the power of a well placed lie, and used that to become the character he is in the present. The question is whether the rebellion is build on a misunderstanding or an intentional lie, and he was in the area at the time and had a motivation for telling the lie.
Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna, that’s just a fact. Her willingness in the matter doesn’t actually factor in: she was legally Robert’s property at this point and Robert was massively dishonoured by Rhaegar’s action. The war started because a grown man couldn’t keep it in his pants and ran off with the wrong girl, that’s the long and short of it. Lyanna could have come out and announced that she loved Rhaegar (who she’d met twice) and wanted to be with him and it would not have changed the political shitshow that Rhaegar’s actions caused. I really liked the talk about Zeppelin in the beginning. While we can look to the Grateful Dead and confidently pull inspiration it’s not as simple for other bands. Also, the Free Folk don't make sense if you're only using Westerosi versions of events. Why build a wall of ice to stop primitive people from going south while ignoring the hill people in the Vale who are arguably more of a threat? Why is there so much hatred towards them and vice versa (sure, the raiding and murdering, but what started that feud)? I wonder if the Free Folk are actually the descendants of ancient Night's Watch deserters/defectors. Maybe in the ancient past women were allowed to serve as well, which would explain why Free Folk women are so capable of fighting and survival themselves, meaning the more modern version of the Night's Watch not allowing women at all is because of the past events where they married and left the Wall together. Would also explain their name - the Free Folk. Free of what? They have a hierarchy within their multiple societies, after all - and even an elected king (multiple, in fact, over their history)! Maybe they are free of the Watch, and time has made them forget the reason for their freedom. Also explains the long standing rivalry very neatly. Because ultimately their cultural differences aren't that extreme to the rest of the North, and Iron Islanders aren't reviled to the same extreme as 'Wildlings' despite doing the exact same thing on the regular! The hatred is entirely based on a long forgotten (or suppressed) split in the Watch. Perhaps even the Night's King is actually an allegory for those events, rather then being a single man it was a large number of men and women who decided they didn't want to live on the Wall anymore and went the only direction available to them - further North.

So, an expansion on the Danny flynt being cold hands theory. Her story parallels Jon’s in a few ways, primarily that she’s 100% committed to duty and hates oath breakers. Similar to Jon getting revenge for the death of lord commander Mormont. Her death is similar to Jon’s in that both were murdered by their brothers while doing their utmost to fulfill an oath they volunteered to take. Neither were criminals or coerced into it, both sincerely admired the ideals of the watch and what it represents. If cold hands is Danny, and were to hear about what happened to Jon, she could potentially have a hand in, or resurrect him herself. If she turns out to truly be an attractive girl they could end up being the new sort of nights king and queen. He commands the watch, and both are now wights or half wights? This also fits into the theory of Jon being changed, he’s always cold now stuck in the same sort of half life Danny is.

We know the Starks have forgotten significant bits of their ancient history, and the Night's Watch has forgotten their true purpose. It makes just as much sense that the wildlings have forgotten some vow, too.

hilariously, the Frey Civil War is likely when most of the Westeros-based characters' romantic subplots will play out, by hookup or breakup or even marriage (though whether they SURVIVE past getting together is Another Thing Entirely). Every faction can benefit from marrying or preventing the marriages of Freys: different branches of House Frey hold The Twins (getting to & from The North), Riverrun (getting in/out of the Westerlands), Castle Darry (a good stopover between the Riverlands & King's Landing), and others still via being the last legitimate-ish heirs to Houses that have been wiped out during the wars.
"Gatrhouse Amy", if given character development, could act as a rather literal Key for whichever faction gives her the best option as a groom. Amy is the current heir to Castle Darry, her sister is Lady Bolton & thus could very well prompt Amy's throwing in with Robb Loyalists OR with Stannis, depending on who's holding Winterfell.
My HC is that Amy will marry the current knight of the Bloody Gate (I forget whether he's a Blackwood or a Talhart but he's Sansa-sympathetic), enabling Robb Loyalists in The Vale to get into The Riverlands, get Robb Loyalists/Stark Sympathisers in shouting distance of each other, and enable troop movement from East-West (& possibly South-North).
ofc, House Darry was traditionally & secretly loyal to House Targaryen... so AEGON might get a foothold in the Riverlands (though it's highly unlikely any Frey will get a shot at courting him).
The wildlings make plenty of sense if you think think of the wall as a literal manifestation of borders. That's where the line is drawn. It's arbitrary, may have taken some time to get there but it's defined by othering and exclusion and defended with violence.
Picts and Scots didn't make sense in late antiquity Britain... neither did Germanic tribes north of the Limes or Xiongnu, Mongols and everything in the times between 😂

I interpret wildlings as initially not being north/existing (they say thousands of years ago) of the wall. Because it was built to keep the danger away AKA the others. They gradually forgot what purpose it serves. The nights watchmen kept leaving and the word went around : if you want to live free from the kings you despise, go north of the wall. Huge clans built themselves. Natural rivalty occurs between loyalists and Exiles. Just like every other culture ever.
Right? How long does it make to build a wall that big and some people just didn’t notice or bother to ask, or were late when they closed the gate?

I think itd be a good twist if Ser Mandon tried to kill Terion because he was just genuinely a good kingsguard. Tyrion had struck/threatened/etc the king more than once, so when Mandon had the opportunity to remove a threat to the king, he took it. His justification for abandoning Sansa was that his first thought was of the King, which is kinda fair tbh. Yes hes Sansa's guard at the time, but hes also a Kingsguard

The "Petyr started Roberts Rebellion" theory is that Littlefinger came up with the Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna lie and told Brendan, who was coming after him for getting Lysa pregnant and running after her at the time. They would have all been at the inn at the crossroads at the same time, so he could have seen Lyanna go with Rhaegar and stretched the truth to piss off Brendan and deflect his anger to Rhaegar. It's not that he did it on purpose but rather he saw the power of a well placed lie, and used that to become the character he is in the present.
The question is whether the rebellion is build on a misunderstanding or an intentional lie, and he was in the area at the time and had a motivation for telling the lie.
Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna, that’s just a fact. Her willingness in the matter doesn’t actually factor in: she was legally Robert’s property at this point and Robert was massively dishonoured by Rhaegar’s action. The war started because a grown man couldn’t keep it in his pants and ran off with the wrong girl, that’s the long and short of it. Lyanna could have come out and announced that she loved Rhaegar (who she’d met twice) and wanted to be with him and it would not have changed the political shitshow that Rhaegar’s actions caused. He honestly knew what his actions would do, he must have foresaw how bad of a fuckup this would be. If he absolutely _needed_ a concubine with northmen blood or even stark blood, there were other daughters and cousins of the Stark family he could have kidnapped and very few people would have cared

In every way that mattered to the people at the time, she was already Robert’s woman, to kidnap her was akin to kidnapping his wife. It was a massive direct dishonouring of Robert himself and his family as a whole. Maybe Lyanna was too young and naive to know better, she was just a kid after all, but Rhaegar, the grown ass married father of two absolutely knew better, he started a war to get laid

I really liked the talk about Zeppelin in the beginning. While we can look to the Grateful Dead and confidently pull inspiration it’s not as simple for other bands. I love Phish and a good handful of Phish songs may have ASOIAF vibes and symbolism, but many of those ideas are shared coincidentally and aren’t exactly inspired. Sure, a song like “More” by Phish could be inspired by ASOIAF, but that doesn’t mean it tells us what to expect. I don’t even think it was written with ASOIAF in mind, but regardless I like drawing those parallels.
Also, the Free Folk don't make sense if you're only using Westerosi versions of events. Why build a wall of ice to stop primitive people from going south while ignoring the hill people in the Vale who are arguably more of a threat? Why is there so much hatred towards them and vice versa (sure, the raiding and murdering, but what started that feud)?
I wonder if the Free Folk are actually the descendants of ancient Night's Watch deserters/defectors. Maybe in the ancient past women were allowed to serve as well, which would explain why Free Folk women are so capable of fighting and survival themselves, meaning the more modern version of the Night's Watch not allowing women at all is because of the past events where they married and left the Wall together.
Would also explain their name - the Free Folk. Free of what? They have a hierarchy within their multiple societies, after all - and even an elected king (multiple, in fact, over their history)! Maybe they are free of the Watch, and time has made them forget the reason for their freedom.
Also explains the long standing rivalry very neatly. Because ultimately their cultural differences aren't that extreme to the rest of the North, and Iron Islanders aren't reviled to the same extreme as 'Wildlings' despite doing the exact same thing on the regular! The hatred is entirely based on a long forgotten (or suppressed) split in the Watch. Perhaps even the Night's King is actually an allegory for those events, rather then being a single man it was a large number of men and women who decided they didn't want to live on the Wall anymore and went the only direction available to them - further North.
Cool! I'm expecting something maybe akin to this, at least some explaination / exploration of the Free Folk and the watch. Hoping to see more Free Folk action in Winds. My HC for that is that Val is the princess in the tower who will slay the savage giant Whoresbane Umber.
