Yeah. Nothing about Emily Charlton/Emily Blunt is exactly subtle in this movie. However, it was in 2006, after seeing TDWP in the theater that the eye roll/lip press/finger snap/arm point was added to my personal repertoire after seeing her execute the move so masterfully in the scene with the Smith & Wollensky steak that Miranda demanded but also didn't want. "Aahn-DRAY-uh" *snap*
And even the words she said. Yes, it seems dismissive, maybe even rude on the surface, but they both know that they are excuses, not facts. The prickliness is a facade at this point. This was actually one of my favourite moments from the film
They werent enemeies lol Emily is extremely high strung and she loves her job. Andy didnt respect the industry and so Emily didnt respect her and treated her as thus. It wasnt anything personal. Professional, yes, not personal lol
“You have some very large shoes to fill….hope you know that,” was that a compliment to Andi?! I honestly never caught that before until now. I’d like to think they kept in touch even after everything that happened.
Yes, she meant it as a compliment to Andi...BUT..., I always felt like this phrase was directed to the actress playing Andi's replacement, because I always thought that she was Meryl Streep's daughter (kinda looks like a young version off Meryl if you really look at her) and was referring to her.
it just means "you are replacing someone very valuable", referring to Andi, obviously, as she had completed her year at the magazine and was not going to be back there
I never noticed watching hr movie but here, zoomed in: her micro expressions especially in the beginning of this are SOOOO on point. Jeez. It's not just her eyes it's the whole are around and under them.
This is the first time I saw Emilly Blunt in a movie and I swear I blown away. Her performance was so good, such a strong character that can't be play by some random artist. So happy see her right now, she deserves everything she has.
Honestly when Emily smiles, it feels like the whole room just lit up. I love that about a person on how their presence or smile can light up a room. ❤😊
I do appreciate this being a way Andy is able make it up to Emily :) I like how Emily can be super blunt but she never once tried to hurt Andy’s career and honestly went out of her way at to give her good advice.
Best thing in this clip is the very brief moment when we see Emily her caring side... just a lovely smile. And two second later she has the ice mask on again.
This is one of those movies you have to watch almost every year or two bc: 1. The unforgettable characters, 2. The brilliant script and writing, 3. The sublime performances which tie them all together. This movie was made less than 20 years ago, but it's still so fresh and modern, and sadly, newer films just can't match its high level
It took me forever to realize what she meant by that because as a kid I thought she was trying to act like she was doing her a favor because she has so many clothes she doesn't need them etc idk lol embarrassing
@littlePixelHadaSong "They'll drown me" is an American idiom. If we are "drowning" in something it's because there is entirely too much of it (like water in actual drowning). In this scene, Emily uses the word as a metaphor to imply that Andy's clothes will be far the big on her.
Emily Blunt was perfection in this movie. Like she always is, but it was definitely a favorite for me. I was just recently reciting that line to my mom. Where she says "You have some very large shoes to fill.. hope you know that" it was used in the context of our conversation, but it was fun getting to use this line. It's so brilliant.
Emily's expresions show how much she wanted those designer clothes. She became so touched after hearing from Andy. There's always a little girl hiding inside a grown up woman wanting her favorite dresses that make her feel like a princess! ❤
I loved the way Emily grudgingly helped Andy when she just started the job. She could have let Andy fall flat on her face, but she didn't. I love that movie. ❤
I don't think they were enemies. Emily did everything to help Andy excel at her job and perform well. It's just that Emily was rude and impatient at times, but never did she try to sabotage Andy.
And don't forget, Emily was originally cast as Natasha in Avengers, but she had to drop out bc of a scheduling conflict, otherwise she'd be Natasha instead of Scarlett
the ice princess (Emily) and ice queen (Miranda) smiling warmly at the memory of Andy always bring me to tears. sucks that she didn’t get to see any of those
Because she was acting with Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt is so underrated in this movie but she offered us an astonishing performance as always !
She hated but respected her. She hated that she was so great at what she did and became the best so quickly. I love that her respect just trumps her hate
Crazy thing, for long time I didn’t know that was Emily Blunt. She is a real star of this movie, she stole every scene she appeared. She should be nominated for Oscar for this role.
My greatest satisfaction at the end of the movie? To see Andy going back to her previous lifestyle and outfits!❤❤❤ Fashion means nothing, it's the talent and the inner beauty the most important things in life.... not the Chanel 's boots and all that useless stuff. Be yourself: the winner of the game called life! 🤟🏻💚
Respect to Emily for never trying to sabotage Andy's career when she clearly could. She deserved everything.
You know it's a story right?
@@honeymcdonald9120 yeah. But still a lot of ways Emily could've been written

@@f.2961 its really weird how you interpreted my comment that way. Hmmm
She did try to sabotage her! Why do you think she gave all the wrong instructions when she had to drop the book off at the house.
Love Emily Blunt in this role. Her expressions are so subtle and perfect.
she was great, but nothing in this scene was subtle!
Her facial expressions in this scene are about as subtle as her eye shadow
@@inkenhafner7187 thank you for letting me know i wasn't the only one thinking about that. 😂

Emily without giving the hint of gratitude but her eyes said it all. Kudos 😊
Her voice as well, I mean her emotions are not just visible in this clip, they are also audible.😌
And even the words she said. Yes, it seems dismissive, maybe even rude on the surface, but they both know that they are excuses, not facts. The prickliness is a facade at this point. This was actually one of my favourite moments from the film
Ikr. This is a great acting method ❤❤
Emily è stata bravissima, in ogni momento. Anche un solo movimento del corpo, piccole espressioni del viso 👏👏👏👏 meritava un Oscar ❤❤❤❤
I think she knew that Andy knew, that she was grateful. 😊
Emily deserved to go to Paris after all her hardwork.
I think that’s why the show is named “Emily in Paris”
She would have gone if she hadn’t gotten ill and then been in a car accident 😭
Emily didn't go to Paris. She will always be known as the girl who didn't go to Paris.
You know it's a story right?
@@honeymcdonald9120 is it?
Emily Blunt has such an expressive face. She can say so much with just a flicker in the eye, or a twitch of her mouth. It truly is breathtaking
Teary eyed, shaky voice, but still giving the attitude. And Andy smiling, knowing that she made her so happy. 🥹 I love this movie so much.
Well, she's just to proud to admit she appreciated this but Andy knows she is
I love this movie too! Its my comfort movie!
Emily blunt and Anne Hathaway-two brilliant actresses! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
From enemy to friend, that would make a long respectable friendship !!!

What’s interesting is they are very good friends in real life ❤
The second book is with them being bffs i think.

Emily deserved so much, and the way her eyes and voice changed just shows her true heart. She worked so hard, and so deserved to go to Paris.

Emily was fantastic in this movie she is a masterclass in subtle face expression, and the voice and accent is delightful to hear.

Fall in love with Emily after watching this film. She is such a wonderful actress. Love her
Emily and Meryl both seem like the sweetest down to earth types - who play fantastic evil characters
