good news to hear about the Freedom alive. They are rocking again in this tour and Arnel's 15th year is awesome achievement, the longest running frontman of Journey.
Arnel is still so damn good. Singing those high songs every night is the real challenge. So yes, he is getting old and he seems tired sometimes but I still believe he is the best singer they can have right now.

Wow. I simply cannot listen to Arnel doing this to his voice. It's over. It's time to step down before he becomes injured if he's not already. Journey needs to shut down shop or call Hugo Valenti, give him his shot as their front man(at least in rotation with Arnel) and possibly continue for another 5 years or so.

These songs are incredibly hard to sing, even Steve Perry the original singer was only able to do it for a limited time. Arnel is hurting himself. And the band is damaging their legacy. Sorry
I was there and I feel like he may have been sick. Open Arms was really rough! They finished strong with the last 3 tracks ad he brought the energy all the way. Castronovo was fantastic.
Also,the Journey audio mixing was horrendous. The instrumentals were so much louder than Pineda's mic. TOTO however was absolutely on point!

Yep, Deen needs to be singing. He mixes the songs perfectly just like Perry used to. Deen hits all the right pitches and never struggles with any tune.

Arnel's voice needs to have a needed break in between tours. He's old and we are all aware of that. Plus, the weather and temperature he goes in to different places affects him too.
I suggest the band should distribute more songs to Deen and Jason (other keyboardist) in order to not to strain Arnel's voice further.
I have a feeling that this will be his last tour and will push through his retirement that he wanted.

Jason sounds pretty good, however it would be a mistake giving him more than 2 songs, his stage presence isn't great, he sings his 1 song way in the back of the stage.
Arnel is still fine even SP struggled at times during his stint.

Arnel's story is really one of the greatest rags to riches stories in modern entertainment. No doubt. But, he's struggling with his vocal performance and it shows. He's cracking, wobbling and substituting head voice with really bad falsetto because his voice just can't reach those notes anymore. Its really painful to watch.
Singing Journey songs, especially those from the Steve Perry era, are nothing short of god level vocal gymnastics. If you're not a properly trained and experienced singer, singing these songs for 250 shows a year is simply not sustainable. Steve Perry was a one off vocalist and even he had his serious bouts with vocal issues back in the day.
If Arnel wants to continue as the singer for Journey, he needs to stop jumping around on stage like a goon, get into good physical shape and by "good" I mean professional athlete level shape, and most importantly, get with an experienced and well trained vocal coach who can help him avoid blowing out his vocal chords. Otherwise, he's not going to last much longer.
It would really be shame to see this talented singer come this far only to come this far.

His voice is strained. He's struggling to hit notes he should be hitting with head voice but, he's not. He's struggling to get to the higher notes with falsetto. That's a sign that his voice is strained and tired and that's never good for a professional singer.
This is the sort of thing that ends vocal careers. You don't want your favy fav singer to stop singing, do ya?? I didn't think so.

People go to a show to have fun, people who try to get a feel for show through an amateur's video, are missing out.. those who want yo be critical are unrealistic. There’s nothing to be ashamed of by lowering a songs key if it helps the singer therefore helping the overall performance. People understand that everyone ages and gets older and sometimes you need to make modifications if you still wanna play live professionally as you age. With continually rising ticket prices, audiences pay up the Wazoo for a nosebleed seat therefore they’re gonna want what they pay for which is good quality musicianship and singing and technology. Now if they were playing a small fairground show with either free tickets or an expensive prices than you can argue about lowering music and singing quality. But if most of these bands are going to charge high ticket prices, then they need to deliver on quality.

I was at the first show in Pittsburgh last Tuesday. I’m done. It’s nothing more than a glorified karaoke now. And that’s not a jab at Arnel. This is the third or fourth time I’ve seen them with Arnel, in the mix has been horrible each time. Makes me think that it’s intentional. And then of course, it turns into the Neal Schon show. Because, who wouldn’t want an extended guitar solo in every song? I mean, it’s really not Open Arms unless you have a three minute guitar solo, right?
Here’s the thing I don’t get; Journey hasn’t been relevant for about 35 years. And that’s fine. But, then thinking that they are still an arena headliner is a bit much. What’s even more, is the prices for these tickets. My face value seats for sitting at center ice, about five rows up was $120 before fees. All in for two tickets was just over $300. I’m sorry, they are not worth that anymore. Not when, in September, I can see Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Loverboy for $30? I understand, arena versus amphitheater. The arena show is always going to cost a little more. But four times the price?

You cannot tell how he sounded completely through an amateur's video. I have seen these guys many times since 2006, and I can tell you none of these videos reflect how it sounds when you are there live. This band sells out arenas all of these years later so clearly something is working right?

His voice is beyond fatigued. Listen to Stone in Love. He is headed the same direction as what happened to Steve Augari. I'm fully aware of the Steve Perry quotes. Journey have worn out Arnel's voice. I am a fan of Arnel. I'm a vocalist myself. This is not about just having an off night night. @@SteveKaynan You are right, I think they only have 40 concerts of this Freedom Tour which is every other night (tough!). We have tickets for 3/31 in SF and it’s our first time. I don’t know yet what to expect but I’m always curious on Journey’s FB comments praising AP.

You mean envious of guys in bands who can make a living playing music, of course I enjoy great bands like Journey but I am very happy wth my career in finance which allows me to fly all over the Country to see bands like Journey. I already can do whatever I want, and I do not have to pay out for 4 ex-wives. He might beat me in net worth but do not think he has that much of an edge. I have one house worth more than his current one, he could not afford to live in the Bay Area anymore
