I saw Blackberry Smoke live and was blown away. I describe them as one of the most "professional" sounding bands I've ever heard.

Make me feel the rhythm in the service of the melody. Mr. Britt on the bass guitar knocks it out of the park on this song.

I'm so glad you featured this band! The first time I heard "One Horse Town" I ran home and learned the progression in minutes, purely through inspiration. I worked out my own solo apart from the original, and felt really good about my endeavor. I still play the song and I am grateful for the spur that was dug into my side👍Thanks Michael P.!!!!!!!!

Do yourself a favor and find the live versions of this song! They take it to a new level incorporating classic songs from Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Allman Brothers and the Beetles to name a few. This song ends their show and it is the best closing song that I have heard and seen to date and I have been to over 350 concerts. Seen these guys 78 times and they have NEVER disappointed. Great musicians and great people!

What Does "Rode Hard and Put Away Wet" Mean?
The expression "rode hard and put away wet" refers to a person who looks worn out or unwell. "Ridden hard and put up wet" is another variation on the same phrase. The expression originates from the southern and western United States. The first use of the term is uncertain; it was already in relatively widespread use by the mid-20th century.
The phrase itself is derived from horseback riding. When a horse is forced to run quickly, it works up a sweat. Before being put back into the stable, it should be allowed to cool down by walking the last part of its journey. Even after arrival, it may need to be allowed to walk a bit more to cool down. The rider should remove saddles and other tack and give the horse a small amount of water. Once the horse is somewhat rested, the rider or groom rubs the horse down before returning it to the stable.
Horses that do not receive this treatment can suffer from a number of complaints. Chills and muscle stiffness can result from being left damp. Horses also frequently become bad-tempered and resentful if left untended.
By analogy, then, a person who is "rode hard and put away wet" seems ill-conditioned, tired out and unhappy, much like a horse that has undergone the same treatment. The expression also has a secondary meaning implying that the person has been neglected or mistreated. The phrase can be used to refer to a single instance of this appearance in the case of a person who has had a tiring and difficult experience. It can also refer to a person who habitually appears weary and disheveled, such as an insomniac. In some cases, it can even be a compliment, describing someone whose rugged appearance testifies to his or her toughness and endurance.
The phrase "rode hard and put away wet" is common in popular culture. Country and western singer and comedian Tennessee Ernie Ford used it as a catch phrase in the 1950s and pop-punk band Diesel Boy used the phrase as an album title in 2001. Actors June Raphael and Casey Wilson named their two-woman comedy show "Rode Hard and Put Away Wet." Due to the popularity of some other euphemisms involving riding, some people incorrectly assume that the phrase has a sexual connotation. As a result, it also appeared as the title of an adult film in 1998.

You don’t have to review it, but I know your taste and appreciation for solid stuff so watch their live video of “Southern Child” from Capricorn studios in Macon. Jimmy Hall joins them.

Micheal you need to check out David Grisman and Jerry Garcia playing The Thrill is Gone at Warfield Theater. Even if you don't do a video on it please watch it. Sir Grisman's solo at 4:30 is incredible. th-cam.com/video/CZCIGU4DVpE/w-d-xo.html

BBS are just fantastic, thats it! And what a band live too, their sound man, somewhat like the band, is an unsung hero.

I could not agree more that simplicity is huge with writing music. If you play, you've most likely played tons of covers, and what do you notice?... well, what I notice is that acoustic / unplugged versions of even the most highly produced songs are just simple, but effective chord progressions. Some of my most favorite songs are just F, G,C songs, or A,D,G songs, etc... They say country songs are "3 chords and the truth." Totally true! And, I'd say blues, folk, and rock could say the same sentiment. Nothing at all wrong with simple. Love it!

Would love to see something a little different for the channel I think. Would love to see you do Jason Isbell doing an “American Girl” cover th-cam.com/video/ZVVzsyUU02Q/w-d-xo.html or Jason Isbell joining Wilco on stage for “California Stars” th-cam.com/video/Mi9l10pzMeI/w-d-xo.html . Both are great songs and great versions with some great vocals and solos!!!! Channel is awesome
