I am not fully aware of the Vorabzustimmung process. But in general, if you qualify for Blue Card category, then it would be the preferred type of visa.
Hello @Jegan, are documents apostille mandatory? I see the checklist for family reunion visa. It clearly says that "If marriage didn't take place in India or in Germany: marriage certificate with apostille/legalization, if applicable" The checklist doesn't say to apostille any documents. Could you confirm that just for safer side you had your documents apostille or vfs guys asked you or you read somewhere. I'm asking because i don't want to get into such situations, so double checking with you
Hello Vivek, Yes it does not say in the checklist. For the entry visa it is not needed. But when you apply for residence permit card in Germany for your spouse, the officers will ask for the apostille. This is regardless of religion. That is why, I suggested to take it while you are in India itself, it is easier and cheaper.
Of course, work experience certificates are mandatory. You can check this checklist: It is mentioned too. india.diplo.de/blob/2163240/6c5a3edfa01be40fe25d1bcbfb38aa69/eu-bluecard-visaentry-data.pdf

From India, you will apply in Blue Card category and get entry visa for 3 or 6 or 12 months. After entering Germany, you can apply for original blue card with 4 yrs validity.
Hi, That is sad. I think you need to contact the German consulate in your area or may be VFS and ask about it. Unfortunately I do not have reliable information on this.

Please make sure if the university name is correct in anabin. Sometimes university will have 'distance education' in their name. But if your university name is same in anabin and your degree certificate, then it's all good
Hi Jegan, thanks for your videos. I plan to book a blue card visa appointment. I have a few questions for which I require your help. 1. Do I need get a separate visa appointments for family members or will one appointment be enough to cover family visa applications? 2. If I have either compulsory health insurance or travel health insurance, is anyone type of insurance good for visa application? 3. Is it compulsory to get marriage certificate legalization at the time of visa appointment, although the marriage happened in India? 4. If individual visa appointments are needed, can I take appointment for me and my family members also on same day and same slot?
Hi Prabakaran, Firstly I am sorry that I could not respond to you on time. But I am not sure, if you are still looking for answers. However, I try to share my thoughts on your questions. 1) You need separate appointment for each visa application. So yes, your family members need separate appointments, even toddlers. 2) If you mean Germany's compulsory health insurance, I am not sure if you already get it while you are in India. I am bit unclear on this point. But normal travel health insurance is enough for visa appointment. Either 3 or 6 months plan. 3) As far as I know, Yes. You need the marriage certificate. After coming to Germany, you would also need Apostille on your marriage certificate. It is recommended to do it while you are in India itself. 4) Same day is mostly possible. Same time may not be guranteed, but if you get little before or after, VFS team will accommodate you together. Please let me know if you already managed to do your appointments and if there is any change in your process compared to my answers here. It can help others.
1. I recently applied for a visa under the Blue Card category. I managed to secure an appointment for myself after a month. However, when I tried booking separate appointments for my wife and son, their slots were waitlisted. A new slot for them opened up just a week before my appointment, but it was scheduled for a date one month after mine.I had heard that dependents can accompany the main applicant when applying under the Blue Card visa category, so I reached out to VFS by email and phone. After receiving confirmation that my wife and son could attend the same appointment as mine, we decided to go together. Thankfully, everything went smoothly. 2. Regarding health insurance, I recommend getting travel insurance for 1-3 months to cover the period until you start your job in Germany, after which you can apply for German health insurance. 3. While this is not mandatory in India, it might be required in Germany. I arranged it in advance through a legitimate provider listed on the Ministry of External Affairs website (www.mea.gov.in/apostille-menu.htm). I opted to complete the process via BLS, you can opt for anyone.
Hi Jegan, please i have a question, i received the soft copy of my statement of comparability 3 months ago awaiting the hard copies. Please how long did it take for your hard copies to be delivered to you?
Hi Pade, As long as I knew it could even take 3 - 4 months. But I have limited idea on this. So unfortunately I couldn't help you with additional info.
Hi, No, nurse can not use blue card category. You can find more info here - www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/working-in-germany/professions-in-demand/nursing
Very useful. Thank you for detailed information. I’m moving to Germany along with my husband in a few months and worried about temporary accommodation due to multiple housing scams. We are considering to stay either in sublets or other temporary accommodations. Is it advisable to pay hefty deposit while in India itself for these temporary accommodations? What are the alternative options to consider?
Thanks for your kind feedback. I would not recommend paying a deposit from India. It is wiser to go for a temporary accommodation, even if it is slightly pricier. You can save you from unnecessary anxiety. My suggestion would be find a proper studio apartment or airbnb property (like a hotel or accommodation management) that allows you to register in the city. After arriving here, you could find an apartment.
@@divyasrees3760 When I arrived I used Living Hotels (living-hotels.com) in Nürnberg. It was expensive but was really comfortable. You try to find such ones in wunderflats.com & also wg-gesucht.de. You can also have a check through Facebook groups like Indians in Deutschland or the city you are moving into. Like Indians in Munich, people post there as well time to time. But make sure to verify well before make any payment for such offers.
My entry visa is valid until 30 Oct 2024, and I have resigned from my current company. I possess my ICT resident card. I'm awaiting my blue card appointment; however, my current company may send me back to India within one month. So, my question is, will I be able to return to Germany using my entry visa?
If your entry visa has MULT (multiple entry) option then you can re-enter. But the problem is it will also have your current employer's name in it. So there are possibilities to check about employer & job contract. So it is a tricky situation, better get in touch with Auslanderbehorde and decide. I or anyone else who gives opinion may not be 100% right.
Hi Jegan, a very trivial question hope you can help. Per my understanding we need to fill 3 different applications forms for self, spouse and kid While taking appointment in vfs should we take 3 different appointments or 1 appointment with 3 applicants possible? I have a similar situation, hope you can help me with this
Hi Karthik, You need to take 3 different appointments. They don't accept 3 applications in a single appointment. It's like one appointment = one person.
Hi Jagan...I am applying for a EU Blue card visa... the checklist says to have a valid insurance from date if employment.... I called up a German insurance company and they said they can only give me health insurance when I arrive in Germany. What insurance do I apply for ?
Hi Nikhil, In my case I took travel insurance from Tata AIG or so for 6 months. That covered Germany and multiple other countries. I heard it's also possible to take it only for 3 months from some providers. But this travel insurance should help you both for travel as well as for initial few months. After landing here, once you're registered with local city admin, then it's just a matter of a week or so to get insurance here. Conclusion is, please look for travel insurance, that should be enough to get visa approval. 🙂
Thank you very informative. Can I apply for a employment visa with the job contract printout as a PDF document ? or Do I really need to request a postal delivery of the job contract ?
I am applying for a blue card visa but my passport validity is aug 2025 and the address in the passport is different from where I am staying now. Can you suggest to me how I should go ahead.
Validity wise it is okay to apply as you meet minimum 1 year validity criteria. Considering different address and just 1 more year validity, I would suggest renew your passport in Tatkal with right address. So that, you fix address, get more passport validity and since in Tatkal, you would not lose lot of time. Please explore this option.
Hi Jegan..Thanks for the informative video.Very helpful.I have my Blue card visa appointment scheduled in this week. How can I get proof of accomodation in Germany. I havent finalised any accomodation yet.The check list says I need to submit a proof for my accomodation in Germany. Please suggest. Thanks in advance.
Hi, I am sorry, I could not get back to your comment earlier. I hope you would have already figured out and landed in Germany. In case, if not or if someone else is reading this comment, then my answer would be to block some temporary stay with AirBnb or Studio Apartments. But you need to check with the property management to see whether 'Wohnung Anmeldung' which translates to English as 'House Registration' in the local govt office. If yes, then you book it for a week or two and use it as your accommodation proof.
Hello My master degree is recognised in anabin, but not my bachelor’s, it has H- rating. I am working in IT with 9+ exp, I have job offer from Germany. What should i do.. need your suggestions
Hi, I think you mean your bachelor's university has H- rating. In my opinion, you can present your master degree university rating, as that is your latest education. If your master degree's university is with H+ and also you have 9 yrs of experience., then your visa will be approved. There should not be an issue.
Hi Jerwin, Thanks for adding your thoughts. But do you think embassy does not take the master degree's university ranking? I think the original questioner said Master degree is recognized and if that's H+ it should work right. What do you think?

Very informative video. Thanks for the explanation. I have a question - how long after the blue card visa, the family reunion visa (for spouse and kid) gets approved?
After VFS sends your applications to German embassy, usually it is 1 to 2 weeks of time (at least in Chennai). If you have applied for blue card and FRV visas together then all of them gets approved at once, there is no time delay between each other application.
@@jegankennedy Got it. Thanks. The appointment date can be chosen for all 3 applicants at one go? Or will there be a time lag from one applicant to the others due to the limited slot opening duration?
Yes, you can. But getting on same day can be slightly a challenge. If there are continuous slots available then you can get on same day. But if the first applicant gets on afternoon slot then there are chances that other applicants will get on next day morning.
I am going to Germany on Family Reunification Visa (my husband is already working in Germany). How much time will I get to convert my 90 days visa into blue card? And as you mentioned in case I don’t get my blue card within 90 days will I have to return back or I will get a fixation certificate for longer stay?
I think there is a misunderstanding. If a working person loses job only then the 90 days of hard end restriction not for family reunion. If you're in a small town, you can get your card in 2 - 3 weeks. But if it is a bigger city then it will take few months of time. But don't worry you will get additional paper visa until you get your card.

Unfortunately, I do not have direct answers for you. But, - if you reentered already, then it is the normal process to register in Stadt with the updated rental contract with your name in your friend's house, or if you found a new house then with your own rental agreement. - you will definitely need a job to keep your blue card valid and probably you should intimate Auslanderbehorde about your job search/new job. Hi Jerwin, If you are in blue card then it is comparatively easier to bring partner here. If you are from India, then here is the checklist for required documents: india.diplo.de/blob/1816236/2b8917d36eada4f97d925a405d1ceb90/familyreunionspouse-data.pdf In simplified version, Your wife needs an appointment at VFS office to submit these documents and then embassy gives her the visa.
Thank you for the informative video, Jegan. It was really helpful. I have a question regarding submitting applications, if both (me and my wife) of our appointments are in the same day but different slots (2 hours apart), how can we submit both applications together? Also, please let me know which method you used to get marriage cert apostilled. Thanks in advance :)
Thanks for your kind feedback. 1) Firstly for both of you it could be done together, but it is based on the VFS consultants. If there is a same day appointment, then VFS team considers to do it together. 2) For Apostile, I just randomly searched over internet and found a provider named PCC. They did it for me.
Nice explanation.. I have query that for wife and kid, do I need to fill blue card application form or family reunion one? I would like to apply for blue card with family at same time.

Or do I need to apply for myself under Blue Card category without providing any dependent details and submit a separate application for Family Reunion Visa for my spouse? Can you please guide?
Hi, everyone needs separate application. You can mention your dependents in your application, but you have to provide separate FRV application for your dependents. But while submitting you can submit all applications together provided you get the appointment on same date.
Yes, after coming to Germany, you can do it. For everyone the temporary visa will be written as D visa only. But while you receive the residence permit card in Germany, you will get Blue Card. Other category professionals will get other types of cards.
Hi jegan. Your content is very useful as I am also moving to Germany with my family. I have question here , Is appostle important? Me and my husbands passports have spouses name included. I have visa appointment next week . It would be really helpful if you could help me out on this appostle process and how long does it take to get it done. Thanks in advance.
Hi Manasa, Sorry, that I could not get back to you on time. I am not sure if you are already in Germany by now. But if I still choose to answer your question, to get your initial entry visa stamp apostille is not mandatory. However after arrived in Germany, when you extend your entry visa into 4 year Blue Card Residence permit, you will be asked to have your marriage certificate with Apostille. The Apostille process is not that hard, there are agencies that help to do it online. They usually get it done in a week and courier it to your home address. (inside & outside India).
Blue Card is not possible directly, but you can get a different visa for self employment. It's called as visa for self employment. You can find more info in this website: www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/types/other/self-employment

I want to know whether the chennai embassy will provide only Dvisa at first or can I apply again for a blue card visa again?
Hello Joy, Thanks for your kind feedback and congratulations on receiving your entry visa to Germany ! What you got now is only the entry visa. This is the common process. After arriving in Germany, you need to apply for Residence Permit Card in Blue Card category. Only then you will receive your 4 years card. Entry visa is usually valid from 3 months to 1 year based on different cities. In Chennai, it is usually given for 6 months. I heard from Cochi, they give for 1 year. Hope this helps !

Thanks for your kind feedback. Yes, it is temporary entry visa with which we can start working. I also did the same way. As you rightly said in many cities the blue card processing takes time. However I applied for it as soon as I landed. Before my entry visa expires, I got a temporary extension. Later after a year or so, I got my blue card with 4 yrs validity.

Also, you don't need to provide any cover letter unless it is mentioned in the blue card checklist.

By the time you arrive to the immigration desk, your visa validity should have been already effective. So just roaming around in the airport until 12 am looks a risky option (though it's an option). But if you choose this option, there are chances that Indian immigration desk can also question about the landing time at your destination airport. So my preferred option would be asking at employer.

Hi, Cash/Card is possible. I did not do DD.

@@narakibis We need to buy beforehand. I don't think VFS has it.

@@jegankennedy Thank you very much! Do you have any suggestions on which websites to search for such accommodation other than AirBnB?
@@divyasrees3760 When I arrived I used Living Hotels (living-hotels.com) in Nürnberg. It was expensive but was really comfortable. You try to find such ones in wunderflats.com & also wg-gesucht.de.
Per my understanding we need to fill 3 different applications forms for self, spouse and kid
While taking appointment in vfs should we take 3 different appointments or 1 appointment with 3 applicants possible?
I have a similar situation, hope you can help me with this
Hi Karthik, You need to take 3 different appointments. They don't accept 3 applications in a single appointment. It's like one appointment = one person.

Hello Jegan, Did you get Blue card after getting job or before?
Hi Ayush, After getting job. Job contract is the primary pre-requisite for applying blue card visa.
Thanks for your quick reply bro.
Thank you very informative. Can I apply for a employment visa with the job contract printout as a PDF document ? or Do I really need to request a postal delivery of the job contract ?
You can apply it using the print out of your soft copy contract. But it is important to have the digital signature from employer.
Yes
I am applying for a blue card visa but my passport validity is aug 2025 and the address in the passport is different from where I am staying now. Can you suggest to me how I should go ahead.
Validity wise it is okay to apply as you meet minimum 1 year validity criteria. Considering different address and just 1 more year validity, I would suggest renew your passport in Tatkal with right address. So that, you fix address, get more passport validity and since in Tatkal, you would not lose lot of time. Please explore this option.
Is health insurance is mandatory before I submit the application for blue card in vfs?
Yes, have a travel insurance for 3 or 6 months. That should help.
so in order to get job iffer can i say i will apply for eu card by myself ?
I thought I already replied to you, if not, Yes. You can say that.
Hello
My master degree is recognised in anabin, but not my bachelor’s, it has H- rating.
I think also it's hard for that to approve because your university status have an H-, it means ur university is not able to proceed to get an Eu card

But,
- if you reentered already, then it is the normal process to register in Stadt with the updated rental contract with your name in your friend's house, or if you found a new house then with your own rental agreement.
- you will definitely need a job to keep your blue card valid and probably you should intimate Auslanderbehorde about your job search/new job.
Please note all these are just my thoughts, but no first hand experience with regards to reentry. So please approach the Govt. officials directly to get the right info.

Hi Jerwin, If you are in blue card then it is comparatively easier to bring partner here. If you are from India, then here is the checklist for required documents: india.diplo.de/blob/1816236/2b8917d36eada4f97d925a405d1ceb90/familyreunionspouse-data.pdf
In simplified version, Your wife needs an appointment at VFS office to submit these documents and then embassy gives her the visa.

1) Firstly for both of you it could be done together, but it is based on the VFS consultants. If there is a same day appointment, then VFS team considers to do it together.

Hi, everyone needs separate application. You can mention your dependents in your application, but you have to provide separate FRV application for your dependents. But while submitting you can submit all applications together provided you get the appointment on same date.
I GOT VISA type D and validity is 12months.....
After travelling to Germany only we can apply Blue card?
Yes, after coming to Germany, you can do it. For everyone the temporary visa will be written as D visa only. But while you receive the residence permit card in Germany, you will get Blue Card. Other category professionals will get other types of cards.

Hi Rajesh, No. You can enter only from 00:01 of 1st March. May be you can book a flight that starts late evening of 29th Feb from Indian city, but only lands in Europe afer 00:01 of 1st March.
But I feel this will be very hectic for you, so better ask employer if you can report on 2nd of March.

If incase employer refuse to change the reporting date, can we land in airport 29th 11:00PM and stay in airport till 00:01 ? (I mean can we wait 3 to 4 hours in Munich airport?)
I understand some employers will only have 1st of every month as joining date. But your situation is slightly difficult. Please choose a wise option, don't get into troubles on your first day.
