    You need to see their cover of Sabaton's "82nd All The Way", & check out Sabaton's version of it as well, probably as a double feature

    Glad to see you enjoyed this a lot more! I'll second The Nexus, that was the first Amaranthe song I heard and one of their most well known. Massive Addictive, the title track off this song's album, is another insanely catchy song. Then again, this band has a lot of catchy songs.

    I get it. Not everything is for anyone. Some bands have a more universal appeal than others. GHØSTKID really isn't my thing. Nothing against the band themselves. Just not my thing. If Power Pop Metal isn't your thing, you might not have liked Fearless either.

    Back to Amaranthe I see. Yeah, for me they're usually hit or miss... some of their songs are awesome, many are.... yeah, less so.
    Anyways, apart from Skalmold, I'm really looking forward to the return of Blind Guardian, Iced Earth or Sabaton on your channel most of all.
    But one of the things I'm really looking forward for you to check as well is Demons & Wizards - Crimson King / Fiddler on the Green (live in Wacken).

    Amaranthe is fine, just not my bag. Their cover of Sabaton's "82nd All the Way" or "Amaranthine" are probably my favorite tracks of theirs. I like Elize Ryd as she's done a lot of good stuff with Kamelot over the years, and she had that night with Alissa White-Gluz as the lead singers for Nightwish, and in the interviews I've seen of her seems like a really nice person. Their music is just... kind of... poppy samey mixed with some of my least favorite bits of metal vocals. I do adore "Amaranthine," which still has stuff I kind of don't like, yet does it so well I can't argue with how enjoyable the song is to listen to.

    Hunger from the first album and Nexus from the second album are probably their overall most popular songs, and they´re really good both of them. A real banger would be to do sabaton 82nd all the way, and then do amaranthes version right after to compare the two ^^
    My personal favorite is Archangel from the latest album, such a sweet chorus on that song.

    I really get where you're coming from. Amaranthe is a bit of a strange phenomenon to me, since there's songs like Digital World and Call Out My Name that I can easily count to my favorite songs of all time, while others that use mostly similar elements (and also are from the same albums) just really don't hook with me for some reason I don't understand (like Fearless). Also make sure to check out Do Or Die with Angela Gossow ;-) (and 82nd All The Way of course, one of the best both Sabaton and Amaranthe - songs)

    I actually love this song. And I like Amaranthe a lot, but I understand people not loving it... Honestly. I love them, but I love them because I think they are weird... And I like weird... My first thoughts when I listened to them was "this is what happens when you're best friends and one likes metal, the other likes pop, the other likes techno, and you still want to put a band together because you just love each other so much" hahahahaha...

    I didn't watch the previous reaction and just started on this one and nah, this is not my piece of cake. But music tastes are subjective indeed. I like your honesty instead of not liking something and faking it for the sake of the reaction and getting more subscribers (I got that feeling at times with some other reactors).

    Big smile to my face! Never thought I would see "Eurovision" in one of your reaction videos. But you are spot on. It wouldn't be out of place on the show, and as well as the chord progression there is a euro-techno vibe to the drums. Seriously great channel and love the info on the equipment.

    • @esaedvik
      @esaedvik 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tbh, Eurovision is far from being a single-genre music competition, as it tends to be just a collection of the worst pop songs from each country as the songs have to be brand new. It's more of a reality TV show built around music, been that for ages. I see a lot of community spirit in it too, with some friends/acquaintances gathering together to watch the show and talk about it.
      Some use it for political messages, some for humanitarian, human rights etc. causes. Which is definitely a great aspect of it.
      I've never really been a fan of pop music, so Eurovision hasn't resonated with me either. Maybe ABBA being the only exception ever :D

  • @Jaunaricudus
    @Jaunaricudus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I really liked your remark of Amaranthe being Eurovision-like because that's I have been thinking too. Most of their songs clock approximately 3 minutes and have catchy choruses and the typical pop song structure. Amaranthe certainly is a modern metal adaptation of Swedish pop music tradition! Not that this would be a bad thing, I myself shamelessly love them!

  • @shaniamonde7341
    @shaniamonde7341 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In addittion to this being an awesome track, the lyrics are pretty deep and meaningful too.
    Whilst superficially promoting the benefits of a 'Digital World' it is really subverting that with the risks and dangers of it, placing value into things which have no substance, 'freedom is a sin if you give them control, blind adherance to conformity with the deletion of individuality.

  • @Teddy-pf8yy
    @Teddy-pf8yy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I knew you'd find something that you loved by them. I do like Fearless still but definitely not as much as some of their other songs. You should check out either Hunger or 1,000,000 Lightyears from I believe their first album to see if you like the kind of music they were putting out then.
    And I still 100% think you should check out 82nd All the Way. It's a song by Sabaton that Amaranthe covered. So you could do a kind of battle of the bands and see which version you like better. And then if you want to go a step further there is a live version where both bands are performing the Sabaton version on their tour.

    I realise the sweedish band Imminence is probably way too small (250K monthly listeners on Spotify compared to Amaranthes 1.3M) to ever be suggested enough for you to try them, but I really think you would enjoy them. They have so many good songs like Lighthouse, Diamonds, Daggers and Infectious to name a few. Same goes for fellow swedes My Dear Addiction (only 25k monthly listeners on Spotify) with New Blood, Are you there, Follow, Return of Innocence and Kill the silence. Both are really really good.

Other songs I recomend is Prototype and 3rd Testament.
    Another bad and song. Be'lakor Abeyance (Be'lakor - Live at Rockstadt Extreme Fest 2015 | HD

    As a fan of the band, I do agree with you that music is subjective. Not everyone is going to like everything. But as far as Amaranthe goes I think their approach is great. Heavy riffs with catchy hooks and choruses and three different types of vocals. It's metal, it's rock, and a bit of pop. It's feel good music.
    Check out their songs, Archangel, Viral, Hunger, The Nexus. All great rockers.

    Besides, Elize is sexy as hell. Who doesn't like looking at her?
    My favorite lyric: "Never break the mold, you do as you're told/Freedom is for sale, if you give them control."
    Something that is just as relevent today, as it ever has been.

    Now as you mentioned Eurovision - how about an Eurovision reaction? (That music is usually not metal, but their stage shows are over the top, best fitting for you channel would probably "Lordi" with "Hardrock Halleluja")

    To me, Amaranthe change their styles a lot in their songs, so I find that I really enjoy a lot of their music, but other songs that they do don't really appeal to me. I guess with these suggestions that you are getting it's going to be a hit or miss if you like it or not. I woulld suggest checking out 'Do or Die' 'GG6' and of course Their cover of Sabatons '82nd All the Way'

    If you want to listen to another band from sweden with a different sound, try... AVATAR.
    Hail the apocalypse or bloody angel could definitely be a good start

    I have no problem at all with people and their preferences in music. All my year through high school, college, and now work, my tastes were never 100% in line with theirs.
    That said, the best transition IMHO would be Drop Dead Cynical and Do or Die. Otherwise the newest singles that are similar are Archangel and Boom!1

    Yeah, I like Amaranthe and I shut off Fearless when it came out. Just didn’t like it. They’ve got a good catalogue, and there isn’t a clear divide between old stuff and new stuff in terms of quality. Fearless was just kind of an outlier for me in a negative way. I really enjoy the Helix album, which is from 2018. The Score, 365, and Inferno are the first 3 tracks and they’re all bangers right in a row.

    Not my thing, frankly. Seems like a late 90s/early2000s Eurodance song with more lyrics meets distorted guitar and some drum work other than "bum tss bum tss bum tss" at 130 bpm.

    Archangel and Boom from the new album are better than Fearless. Henrik basically scream raps in GG6 and Boom and it's awesome for something different. They are definitely having fun with it.

    Actually Amaranthe is not one of my favorites. I simply don't like the female singers voice. Just a taste-thing, its not my cup oft tea. But... there is the song "Boom!1" where just the guys are singing. And it's amazing!

    You like Sabaton, there's a few videos you should check out. Amaranthe does a Sabaton cover of 82:nd All The Way. It's brilliant. And there's a video with Sabaton and Amaranthe sharing the stage doing the song I mentioned.

    oh yeah, and if you enjoy interesting genre merges, try Rage Of Light - it combines melodic death metal, power metal and trance, plus occasional symphonic elements... one of the most original bands/albums in a while (their debut is called Imploder) :) \m/

    Since you mentioned the Eurovision song contest in this video I came to think of something, there is actually ONE metal band that won the entire Eurovision in 2006, giving Finland their one and so far only win in that contest, (ofcourse the one metalband that wins it had to be from Finland)
    The band is called Lordi and they are still active to this day, they have some pretty extreme costumes and stuff during their live shows, kinda like Gwar but much less cartoony and more "realistic" if I can use that word xD
    I think you should check them out, their music is actually pretty good IMO
    Here is the video from their winning performance in 2006 th-cam.com/video/gAh9NRGNhUU/w-d-xo.html

    Sounds like Britney Spears' producers decided to try and get some new fans from the rock world once her pop popularity declined... lol
    The song structure is still weird...
    PS However, I think Elize would be awesome in a different setting...

    Amaranthe was my gateway drug into metal. Dynamite off of the same album was my first time really sitting down and saying to myself I want to get into metal.
    Therefore Massive Addictive was the first Metal Album I listened to all the way. Then came australian post hardcore band Sienna Skies.
    As Fall Out Boy said Thnks fr th Mmrs, Tank!

    I thought you'd like the older stuff more, cause the songwriting and general production is 'better' or more fitting together.
    You could go all the way back to "Hunger" next! That was I think their first single. That is where their sound started. "the Nexus" is also a very good one and both songs have videos with a really high production level ;)
    Keep up the great content man!

    fair play for giving them another go, i like Amaranthe, but because they blend so many styles, it makes them a bit hit and miss, as some stray a bit to far into cheesey pop. i never liked this song or fearless, but they have plenty i love.
    also check out Orden Ogan, they are a band i never see anyone reacting to, but they are really good, a few recommendations as a starting point would be, Gunman, Vampire in a Ghost Town, Come with me to the other side, F.E.V.E.R. or for something awesome and fun, Brothers of Metal are another band that reactors are sleeping on.
    also props for having Celldweller in the background on this.

    I don't like all the songs of all my fav bands either. And all bands aren't for everyone, even though they were super-good.
    I first listened Elize. Then tried Amaranthe, and it sounded too disco party music in the beginning. But being open minded and having listened different genres, that didn't scare me away.

    You know, I just realised something. I am sure I am going to get some hate for this but. They kinda sound like a more "pop" version of Rammstein with the keybords and "happy" sound. I do love the growling guy, and I have listen to alot of Amoranth songs that I do enjoy, this being one of them.

    Music is universal, but still, as much as I appreciate them as musicians, for me this is a waste of time. Nice grooves an'all, but not my thing. But somehow this goes pretty close to electrocore and from there I'd recommend The Browning

    GG6 from Amaranthe is also really good. It’s a lot more centered on the harsh vocals and the overall vibe of it is a bit more heavy! I think you’ll like it since it’s easier to headbang to it 🤘🏻

    I must confess I'm a die-hard Amaranthe fan... but I understood your first feelings about the band in your previous reactions. I don't think Amaranthe is an "easy" band. I mean... their two latest albums have a clear sound evolution to more metalcore-like sound, but they're still tied to their roots, and that's a little bit confusing. Let's be clear. Amaranthe is a band that's meant or created to be liked by anyone, wether you like pop, dance, metal, hard-rock, etc. That's why their songs are about 3 min -so playable in radio stations-, with catchy choruses, synths and a frustrating lack of guitar solos. But... it's impossible to please everyone. That's why their albums are complete rollercoaster sound wise. Manifest album, at least for me, is their most complete album till date, with easy-to-sing songs like Fearless, ballads like Christaline (that was written in honor of Elize's grandma that passed away during the album recordings), head banging tracks like Archangel (probably their best song till date), nonsense ones like Die and Wake Up and a beautiful track featuring Battle Beast singer like Strong. But it's impossible to figure out whether you like the album or not without listening to it from beginning to end. Anyway, mate, thanks for giving them a try... and don't miss the chance to listen to more tracks from them! Cheers from your friend in Spain!
