I'm not religious in any way, and in large part because I'm queer. Love that a channel like you exists for queer people who have faith. Also great to see queens doing activism!
I stumbled across your channel today and was inspired to watch... you had me at "We're Here"!! I have never watched a full episode of this show, but have heard great things about it. After watching this video, I feel a sense of urgency to now watch it! As a 56 y/o semi-closeted gay man who has struggled my whole life to accept myself, I appreciate your loving words and support!!! 🌈🥰 I also appreciate the drag queens and numerous others who are brave enough to fight for those who cannot, or are too scared to! God bless you all!!!
They couldn't have chosen better drag artists to be the new hosts. Drag DOES heal. I've watched Drag Race from the beginning and it's made me a much better person. It's healed me. It's healed every person who's ever been put in full geesh. They come out of it more whole than they've ever been. RuPail is my hero because of the message he's sending to scared, isolated kids just trying to figure things out in a place where who they are is seen as an abomination. Not a fan of religion, my faith lies in humans. Humans with open minds, open hearts and open arms. Drag artists are not who or what most think they are. They're some of the kindest, most generous and most talented humans I've ever experienced. There are not a lot of groups I'd leave a couple little kids woth for a day. I'd hand them over to a bunch of drag queens in a heartbeat. Because THEY GET IT. They know how to to be kind and gentle and nurturing. Sure, there are some who avoid children like the plague but they'd be on the other side of the room as far from them as possible so no worries. The nurturers will outnumber them greatly. They might learn a few words but that isn't going to hurt them (after pre and follow up conversations with mom to quash all use of those words by them. I have no fear of their physical or mental harm. They know what it's like to be hurt as a child and they would never allow it. I'm such a huge fan of the art and artists of drag! Wish I could afford to add HBO to my other sibscriptions. It's an expensive one for a disabled senior. I LOVE those particular queens as hosts, tho. Jaida Essence Hall makes every garment she wears in dtag and out. Exquisite, impeccable style. And goofy as they come. These queens are beloved by Drag Race fans. They are worthy of that admiration.
A 2SLGBTQ+-friendly church in the U.S.? That’s incredible. I’m in Canada with one of each of a lesbian, trans, and CIS daughter. Yes, there is a joke in there somewhere. It’s sad, truly, that I don’t feel safe bringing my family across the border at the moment. Equally sad that some of this pushback hate has crossed the border and become more visible, such as some parents pushing back against discussions around Pride/LGBTQ+ in public and Catholic (publicly funded) schools. We have many, many 2SLGBTQ+ spaces and places including churches here. My hope is that it remains so, but boy am I concerned about the situation there. Minor shifts embolden the hating ones here too….(thankfully my extended Christian family is mostly very supportive of my trans daughter-a couple outliers but tentative vs hateful). Great channel and I’ve subbed!
Honestly, when I saw you were a queer Christian channel, I was apprehensive. Like I expected you to jump into a lot of lukewarm takes like “it’s ok to be queer but we shouldn’t push so much” or “we should respect bigots’ ‘opinions’ and their religion”. And I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. My bad for pre-judging. Great work!
