Nonetheless, it has been many, many years since LeMans has had this many competitors in the premier class. LeMans 2021 will be the most exciting race we've seen in decades.
LMDh was likely a business decision by manufacturers to have a car that could compete in IMSA. WEC probably realised that if European manufacturers abandon WEC for IMSA, then the long term future for the FIA series wouldn't be good. It's a compromise, and it's one where manufacturers get to decide - do they want a car that could be overall winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, or do they want a car that could be group winner, and also be able to compete in American endurance racing.
@@vaska00762 Interesting: th-cam.com/video/GGBHBrO1glU/w-d-xo.html It sounds like IMSA wants to win LeMans on a tight budget and WEC just wants LMP2 to compete at Daytona. They can't have both. @@budthecyborg4575 the thing with the Valkyrie, was that Aston initially planned to enter it in LMH, then when IMSA announced that they'd be bringing in hybrid tech into Daytona Prototypes, Aston then delayed their entry to see if they could make a car that could qualify for both Hypercar and Daytona. All I can really say for WEC is that they wanted to reinvigorate prototypes, and just as they were planning on doing it, IMSA did the same, creating a dilemma. Daytona Prototypes were never as fast as LMP1, but at least they could outdo LMP2, which is why LMP2 was permitted into IMSA, but IMSA also allow for more leeway with letting modified GT3 cars into GTE categories, such as the BMW M4.
Wait so is the top class of WEC actually gonna be exciting to watch in 2021 and beyond?! Out of the few races I watched from the 2020 season the only thing worth watching was GTE Pro..

They should've just had the FIA GT1 rules, except that they have no limit to what they can do to their hypercars based on the road cars. Now we have LMP1 and P2 look alikes that barely do what people had in mind. It looks like our last chance at a truly modern 90's era equivalent of racing was there, but no I was disappointed yet again thanks FIA. I admit they probably should've made a separate class for this since they're so anal on B.O.P now. But still plenty of people would agree they could've made something seperate and kept everyone happy, infact maybe even gain their old popularity.
Looks nice, and most importantly, should build a relevant top class again. 3 teams this year, next year 4, in 2023 6 teams. It will be a epic 2023 season for sure, with the legends Audi and Porsche joining the rest! Here is for hoping manufacturers like Bugatti, Koenigsegg would join as well...
Should be 4 this year. Toyota, Glickenhaus, ByKolles and Alpine to be fair though I'm not sure ByKolles has posted any updates recently, no idea what they are doing currently.
Hopefully it’ll make for good competition, cause visually it seems like a massive disappointment. I knew it was far fetched to hope for GT1 type cars but managed properly with a cost cap or something, but this is just lmp1 but slower. Well 2023 will have Toyota, Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot and Audi at least.
So they are like racing prototypes. Cool.
I had no idea Leafos had such intimate knowledge of something besides Piñatas! ^^
Interesting they rendered a Bugatti Bolide👀 so interesting
Reminds me of the old GT1 class of the mid 1990s.
in two years we will have Toyota,Audi,Porcshe,Peugot,Glickenhaus and Alpine racing on one track together...
Honda, Cadillac, Ferrari...
1:28 pov: You're Yuki tsunoda
Lmao
This is going to make me watch lemans again
I wonder if Lotus is going to join the hyper car class with a take on their Evija.
Putting the Bolide as an LMH was a quality shitpost in itself but then using it for LMDH too is about the level of incompetence I came to expect from ACO
Short answer: It's a cooler looking LMP1
...with LMP2 speed ;)
@@sebo8872 They'll be faster than LMP2 by a decent margain.
@@ErwinLiszkowicz Is that so? I heard of +10s to current LMP1 in Le Mans, which is just ahead of LMP2 based on 2020 Quali results.
@@sebo8872 well, they are slowing down LMP2s to create bigger margin. But I can't imagine how more powerful LMP2 with hybrid engine and temporary 4WD and more efficient aerodynamics is going to be any slower.
Supposedly they are aiming for 3:30 race pace, but IMO cars will be faster than that because each time a racing organisation predicts some performance loss the reality smack them in the face and shows that engineers are smarter than they think.
My guess is that the race pace will be 3:25 ish and qulifying within 3:20-3:22.
@@ErwinLiszkowicz Don't get me wrong, I do hope LMH is indeed close to LMP1 but there still is that massive extra weight and BoP. I think we'll find out what the true pace is and hopefully By Kolles and Glickenhaus are reliable enough to maintain this pace.
As of right now LMDH seems to be hurting the class more than anything, I'd happily have Valkyrie instead of a stock chassis Audie and Porsche.
@@vaska00762 Interesting: th-cam.com/video/GGBHBrO1glU/w-d-xo.html
It sounds like IMSA wants to win LeMans on a tight budget and WEC just wants LMP2 to compete at Daytona. They can't have both.
I kind of hope you're right and LMDh is just the new LMP2, if Aston Martin sees a performance gap between LMDh and Hypercar they might still bring in Valkyrie.
THEY SHOWED THE BUGATTI!!! THEY SHOWED THE BUGATTI!!!
Wait so is the top class of WEC actually gonna be exciting to watch in 2021 and beyond?! Out of the few races I watched from the 2020 season the only thing worth watching was GTE Pro..
Ohhh now i understand it
I will probably build a LMH from scratch
Bugatti Bolide looks like a spaceship
Can we see the road legal homologation specials?
@@AzathothsAlarmClock garbage road cars yeah sure Ryan miller is smarter than manufacturers
Please bring back the GT1
Very nice video
basically it's a fast car
What is a Hypercar? Not familiar with endurance racing's new top class?
We've heard rumors that this is so that the GTE racing car can be developed into something that will compete in the 'Hypercar' class at the 24 Hours Of Le Mans in 2021 for this year.
I love how they talk to us like we're multi millionaires that can actually build an LMH or an LMDH.
I think were going to have a second golden age soon, it looks like the FIA/WEC did a really good job with the new regulations. These new regulations leading to Toyota for this year in 2021, And Peugeot for 2022 next year as LMH, and then Audi and Porsche fighting for Daytona and Le Mans win in 2023 as LMDH. And it is amazing and the necessary push for WEC to stay relevant. Really hoping it lives up to the hype!
I want to see a Bugatti Bolide as an LMH at the 24 Hours Of Le Mans so bad now. “Yeah, I think I’ll design an LMH and then the LMDH rules seem to restrictive for me”
RESUMO:
Esportivos: veloc. máxima 295 à 300 Km/h
Super carros: veloc. máxima 350 à 390 km/h
Hiper carros: veloc. máxima 400 à 425 km/h
Same,
Expectation : modern-GT1 sportscar style
Reality : another LMP1-like design 🤣
I'd love to see Koenigseggs, Hennesyes, Bugattis, McLarens, Astons and others on the same category.
So LMH and LMDH is LMP1 and LMP2 im guessing, like the old GT1 class of the late 90's
unlike LMP1 and LMP2; these new classes will have a joint BoP and theoretically should be competing directly against each other.
@@LaugenEcke oh i see. Thank you for the explanation.
Hold up, Bugatti Bollide? Let's go baby!
@Shyne Tainyun Well they won't even race though.
YUSSS! The hypetrain begins!
1:03 Oh damn!
-_-
What about top speed set to the gearbox? Will it be free? How about the other classes below Hypercars?
Hopefully it’ll make for good competition, cause visually it seems like a massive disappointment. I knew it was far fetched to hope for GT1 type cars but managed properly with a cost cap or something, but this is just lmp1 but slower. I’ve been hoping for modern GT1 ever since I was little, and when I heard about this I was so hype. But it seems modern GT1 will only be in imaginations and video games. It’s too bad, a Senna GTR/LM v. FXXK Evo v. Bolide v. Valkyrie and more could have been incredible, especially in awesome customer liveries
With what hypercar is the new Toyota "clearly identifiable" ? (1:23)
the car they showed is just as much a Copycat from the LMP1 as Racing Point RP20 is from Mercedes W10.
Despite what is said in the video, there is no such rule. The cars can have more brand styling, but they don't have to.
There are a ton of styling elements that makes you think that the GR010 is a Toyota. Chill out.
And plus your ignorance is showing. The GR010 is nothing like the TS050.
I want to see a Ferrari LMH so badly...
I want Koenigsegg to participate in this class!
I wish see a class of Just hyper cars like koenigsegg bugatti mclaren etc...
When Jeremy Clarkson described McLaren P1 as HyeperCar, someone said, there's no such thing as HyperCar. Where is that guy now?
Any peformance automobile above 800hp is considered a hypercar...
Im so excited for this
I hope its a success
Not the hypercar class i expected.
Great explanation, but why don't you call this class "GT1" again?
Trying to give a flashy name to a class of what seems boring cars.
Rest in Peace LMP1 class.
