They added a notch to the mag well insert right in front of the mag release lever. It gives you access to the screw without needing to take out the mag lever.
Yes, you can access the receiver screw if you have a ball allen wrench. I would take the mag latch off to make sure to properly torq the receiver screw but that is just my opinion.@@MB-nr1mo
As soon as I saw these announced I thought to myself "I wonder how long until WHO TEE gets one and puts it to the test" you sure don't disappoint! I'll be anxiously waiting to see how it shoots.
I believe Ruger is pivoting away from all the problem magazines they had on the gen 1 and switching to AICS. Now if they went AK magazines for the ranch...
I've been attracted to the budget prices of the ranch rifles, but just like budget pistols, after adding up costs after upgrades I usually just bypass and buy another HK. I've been very satisfied with the performance I get out of my Howas. I want a 6.5 grendel bolt, these have my interest, but again for what Ruger is asking, I'll most likely end up with a Howa mini. But nice to see a manufacturer respond to their customers! And it's so hard for *me* to buy anything over 16" long.
My opinion, the only thing I see that makes me look at the Gen 2 is the stock and the possibility of an adjustable cheek riser. Rigged my Go Wild chambered in .308 with foam, velcro, and self adhering elastic medical wrap. The non lock down bolt is not an issue with me, made it a habit of always checking the bolt position every minute or two. Will keep mine the rest of my life.
If you’re happy with the go wild that’s great, imo if I have to check the bolt every couple minutes, it’s not a very dependable gun. There’s enough variables while hunting my bolt staying in closed position shouldn’t be another one.
I’ve been looking at the go wild 30 06 But I’ve seen complaints about feeding issues. Is there a 1st and 2nd gen go wild version? The one I’m looking at doesn’t have a flush magazine, does that mean the feeding problems have been fixed?
@@flexedout6650 Know nothing about the Gen2 versions, as for feeding, it seems that the first AICS mags had a problem, but, after the first run, that was fixed. I myself had no feed problems in my Go Wild in .308.
If anyone is worried about the 20 inch barrel, the Predator model when it comes out will be a 22 inch barrel. It'll be the same contour as the standard just longer and in a green stock, but I don't know what cerakote color they're going with on the barreled action.
It looks to me like the barrel is really only 18 inches and the brake is 2 inches. That isn't what I'm looking for. Kinda false advertisement to include the brake in the barrel length if you ask me. It's an 18 in h barrel. Am I wrong?
@MisterBrewer I had a 2 hour talk with a product manager at Ruger the day after the launch, for clarification of some questions that members of a Facebook group I help run had.
@johncadloni4538 those radial brakes are only about an inch long and about a half inch of the muzzle is inside the brake so you only gain about a half inch over the barrel without a brake on it.
@ev3dale298 shouldn't lose more than 50fps, and 99.9% of people aren't needing anything over a 20" barrel because most shots are sub 200 yards, and the shorter barrels give up nothing at realistic hunting ranges.
Ivegot 3 arkens. Great value. I have 2 gen 1 americans. 6mm Creedmoor predator and a 450 bm golive. I’m waiting for the gen2 to come out 1st quarter next year in 6.5 or 7mm prc. Playing with custom build 25 creedmoor and 25prc. Thanks for the video, wtw.
I haven't heard of them until just now in your video. I really like the upgrade of the heavier fluted barrel. I'm not sure I care for the dropping it down to a 20 inch barrel. I'll definitely be looking forward to your testing and shooting videos. Have a great Christmas.
One of the key selling points of the Ruger American Rifle is its affordability, providing a reliable and accurate option at a competitive price point. The rifle is designed to be versatile, suitable for hunting, target shooting, and general-purpose use. The rifle includes a tang safety, providing a secure and easy-to-reach safety mechanism. The Ruger Marksman Adjustable™ trigger is featured in the Ruger American Rifle. It allows users to adjust the trigger pull weight. The action is a three-lug bolt with a 70-degree throw, providing ample scope clearance and smooth cycling. The stock is made of a durable polymer material. It is designed to be ergonomic and weather-resistant.
I have the old 7mm-08 classic ( 6906) with 22 " barrel. Upgrading it for $218.00 with the new Magpul Hunter stock in military green. But I do like that Cerakoted finish of the. Gen II. Thanks for the video.
Can't wait to see how it shoots. I've been thinking about either a 7-08 or maybe .243 definitely a nice looking rig. I think I like the 3 position safety. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
I get a kick out of so many videos where the guy is pouring over ballistic charts and proclaims one cartridge is better than another because of 100 ft per sec. Then they get the guns with 16 to 20 inch barrels.
And here I just bought the American Ruger Ranch in 300 Blackout for $500. I see the MSRP is $729. For $71 more I got a Boyds gun stock in woodland camo with their At One Thumbhole configuration. My 8 year old and wife both shoot the 300 Blackout and are aided by those features on the stock. My gen 1 predator in 6.5 creed has an ACIS style mag and i love it. Definitely going to get my hands on a gen 2 really love the bolt lock not a necessity but is a really good feature for the price.
My savage axis 30.06 bolt came open in the woods slightly. Just enough that I missed out on a decent buck. I hunt on the ground and by the time I got it figured out what happened, he was gone! Was not a good feeling! Thinking about getting rid of the savage and getting the gen 2 ruger!

I love the ballistics on this caliber. I bought a Remington LVSF in 7mm 08 about 12 or more years ago and that’s when I learned Remington had fallen off the cliff. I don’t think I got any better than 1 3/4” group at 100 yards. That’s totally unacceptable. I either sold or traded it ASAP. I’ve had good luck with CZ and Tikka since then. Very Nice. Ruger really did a nice job upgrading these. I think they are gonna fly out the door. I have a Gen 1 Predator 6.5 and Also a Arken like on your Winmag and its great , but yes a lil heavy. I am waiting for the Gen 2 Ranch 300BLK this time I believe, for some plinking fun and whatever else comes along. Unless I run across a gen 1 at a good deal.
You should test 10x at extended ranges. Everyone seems to think you need all the magnification. More power more weight in glass. To keep weight down I went with a NF 2.5-10. I live on a mile long lake. I am able to glass an island at 1900 yards. With 10x and a fine mildot reticle I can easily pick out the 1' tall PVC wellhead. I can easily pick out facial features, door knobs and other fine details. My other go to lightweight inexpensive long range scope is the SWFA SS 10X42. Good glass and plenty of vertical adj. Tested it next to my NF, my Arken, PA 6.5CM BDC. The glass in the SWFA is beats Arken and PA. 10x will give you more than enough to reach farther then most guns can shoot.
I wish I would have bought a Ruger 6.5 PRC instead of the Savage Ultralight. I cant even find another magazine for it. Ordered one on the savage web, didn’t get anything after two months and had to call to find out they don’t have them or plan on having more.
WTW Glad you were able to get the new rig… Perfect selection on the scope… I’m looking forward to seeing you send some down range. Toys for boys… Got to love it… Keep it in the 10 Range! Merry Christmas E
I didn't know about this. I love the three position safety keeping the bolt locked. Thanks for the review. I really like my American and I can see one of these in my future!
That’s a great scope I’ve taken 4 deer this year with one and it’s been beat around there awesome!!!! I can’t wait to see you post some groups with the new gen 2 ruger!
Viewer Down under These showed up on our local shop USD $710 for the ranch in .223 .. Was waiting for you to pick one up and put it to the test for us ! Just when i decided on the older model these turned up out of the blue !
Don't know if I should be irritated or not. I backordered a HOWA chambered action in 30-06 from Brownell's. I still need to spend about $350 on a stock. I could have gotten a Ruger Gen 2 for probably a few dollars less. Oh well. I did order an Arken while they have their 25% deal and before they raise their prices. Super good value. One recent purchase I am very happy about is the CVA Scout in 6.5 Creedmoor. Saw you shooting them on here and I own three Cascades already. I was not disappointed with that trigger. I hunt a property owned by my late son's best friend. Mostly ground blinds and those longer guns don't lend themselves to maneuver without making racket. Kept me from doubling up on 2 does this year. Could not wield my 22" Ruger into position in time. Last, this morning I left the stand at 900 to go watch my son's friend and his family open gifts. About 10 min later he called me and asked me if I had left the blind. Had an 8 point walk in. I was disappointed for only a few minutes. If I would have shot that buck, I would not have had time to watch them open gifts we bought them and their little girl. I would have let 10 bucks walk for the joy that I got from that and was able to take pictures and video for my wife who is disabled and could not be there. I think God timed it just right, because He always knows what we need vs. what we want. That will be my season aside from a few duck hunts to his place after the 1st. God bless you WTW and Merry Christmas to you and all the good folks who subscribe. I lost my son 2 years ago and remember, the time with your kids and family mean more than all the deer in the woods. If you can do that with your family, that's the best. All I have are pictures and memories of my son, but we had wonderful times together in the outdoors.
Of course theyre putting a shorter barrel on it. For normal hunting conditions it is plenty long and since theyre threaded its much better length for suppressed as that the directiin so many are going.
I like how they added an aics pattern mag. I actually backed out of buying 2 different ruger american go wild rifles at separate times due to the proprietary mags they had. The adjustable stock is nice, another thing from savage that ruger is jumping on. One thing I will say about the gen 2 version is it seems to have the right mix of features and price and caliber options for someone to have a number of them in different calibers, instead different models or brands.
They've had AICS in the gen1, my 308 Go Wild came in AICS configuration as did my Hunter model but that was in a Magpul Hunter stock so it had to be AICS. Although I think they did reduce the number of models that came in AICS configuration in the last year or so.
Yeah I've seen those, I know a lot of people bought the magpul stocks to upgrade their rifles. I mostly saw the rifles with the ruger stocks not with the magpul one already on it. By comparison to the savage 110 tactical that rifle doesn't need to be upgraded, it just needs optics, bipod, and a sling. The gen 2 ruger American is the same idea. Although, having them all currently offered with a 20" barrel seems like a bad idea to me.
I had a savage Steven’s 220 or 224 I forgot the model the older one from about fifteen years back in 308 it was a sub moa rifle for me had a buddy with a newer one he got moa or better at 100 for budget they do great form my one off and friends one off can’t speak for all though
If that is an 18" barrel with a 2" brake then that is a hard no for me & mine. I am not excited about 20". If the magnum calibers are not 24"-26" I am not interested.
You said you got it from tolivers and I was so shocked to hear that a popular TH-camr goes to a local gun store near me I literally went there yesterday 😂
Looks great, the only gripe i had with my older generation was the stock so i went ahead and swapped that for a bell and carlson. Now these new gens have me very interested if i decide to get another rifle in a different caliber.
Nice new bing bang Who Tee Who. I my self just dropped a doe yesterday with my new bing bang Mossberg Patriot in 350 legend she probably went around $130 40 lb dropped her in her tracks at 30 yards
I knew that it wouldn’t take long before a Ruger American 🇺🇸 Gen 2 video popped up. I tagged you on the first Ruger post on their IG page practically as soon as they dropped this info. I thought the same thing about the stock texture looking similar to a Bergara. I would love one in 400 Legend or 350 Legend since I now live in Ohio. That and their future 7mm PRC.
"My truck is ghetto." This is why this guy deserves our views, he probably gets enough money through views to buy a new, not "getto" truck, but he doesn't because he gives a crap where his money goes.
Appreciate you watching. I actually don't make enough money from views to get a new truck. I'm pretty broke. These videos don't pay as much as people assume 😆. You are correct though - if I did have more money I wouldn't buy a new one
I’ve always been a fan of the older stevens model 200 but that’s a sharp rifle I think I’d take this over the new stevens for sure. Might have to get this in 6.5 something lol
Have original predator in 6.5mm creedmoor with aics magazine and bought the go wild predator 7mm-08 this year with aics magazine. Both are deer catching machines. Been wanting one in 308 so I'm glad caught this video. Budget friendly and very durable rifles. I've been beating the ever loving shit out of them carrying and climbing into and out of stands. They aren't the nicest or smoothest rifles out of the box but damn they're tough , dependable and accurate
I'm not sure if you could change the bolt knob on the old ones ,I have never owned one. But the new one looks like you can replace it with a different one. Let me know if you can. Keep up the great work. I really enjoy your content.
Man that's funny. I just knew moment I read Ruger has a American Gen 2 not long til I seen you do a video on one 😂. I wouldn't mind a .223 Bolt Action or even a 7mm08 too.
Nice looking rifle Who Tee Who! I have a gen 1 all weather in 7mm-08 that I took a 7 1/2 point with (it had 1 brow tine broke off) on the afternoon of the last day to legally take a buck with a firearm here in Michigan. I love that rifle but I do think the 20" barrel on the gen 2 will be a bit nicer to use in a tent blind.;)
Thanks for the video man Im glad you did the review I’m looking at purchasing that same rifle and that scope is a great scope you’ll like it for sure. Keep up the good work man God bless and merry Christmas
Two questions does it still have the American zipper sound on the bolt? Second question does it feed single rounds better than Gen 1? Keep up the great!!! God Bless and Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
Someone said let’s mash up a Bergara, a savage 110, and a high end tikka and call It the gen 2 lol. Lots of people will be getting them and buying new bottom metal for a hinged floor plate or a flush mag though.
Don't throw that little black piece of plastic away, that's your tool for taking out the safety latch so you can get to the rear action screw, trust me I learned the hard way and had to get Ruger to send me another one so I could change the trigger spring 😁😊 Merry Christmas to you and yours ❤️🙏🏻🎄

I am waiting for the Gen 2 Ranch 300BLK this time I believe, for some plinking fun and whatever else comes along. Unless I run across a gen 1 at a good deal.
Local G Store posted they received a couple of the Gen2. One of them was in 204 Ruger.
Awesome
Man I just went down there from the mtn this weekend and bought a shotgun for a good deal man that place is awesome you tell the truth about it
WTW
Glad you were able to get the new rig…
Perfect selection on the scope…
I’m looking forward to seeing you send some down range.
Toys for boys… Got to love it…
Keep it in the 10 Range!
Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!
Good to hear. Stay tuned!

These showed up on our local shop USD $710 for the ranch in .223 ..
Was waiting for you to pick one up and put it to the test for us !
Just when i decided on the older model these turned up out of the blue !
Thanks for watching!
Your truck is as blue collar as it gets. I think we can all relate and appreciate the content and your honest opinion!
😆😆😆 it makes a lot of noises
Yup. Deer always show up when I'm not hunting
@kevinfidler8074 the Predators when they come out in the gen2 will be 22 inches and gain you about 50 fps on average over the 20 inch barrels.
That would be cool, right now Ruger's site just shows the standard with a 20" and the ranch with a 16"
@kevinfidler8074 yeah I talked to one of their product managers, he said in 24 they'll have the Predator out and they are going to be 22 inch barrels.
Nice I have a
RUGER MARK 2 IN .270
RUGER American .243 youth
Ruger American camo .308
And just put my deposit on this one in a .300 win mag today
Adam I think there needs be be a WHO_TEE_WHO edition Ruger American .
That would be awesome
That is a good looking rifle!
Only thing I see that I don’t like is the magazine sticking down. I prefer the smooth look and feel of the flush fit.
I bought one of the Stevens 334 in 6.5 creed with the walnut stock I love it the thing is a tack driver
Awesome
You said you got it from tolivers and I was so shocked to hear that a popular TH-camr goes to a local gun store near me I literally went there yesterday 😂
Tolivers is the place to be!
I was waiting for you to run that bolt because I heard Ruger finally eliminated that zipper sound
Love the look. Love everything except that short barrel. Only reason I won’t pick one up.
That square thing helps you reinstall the magazine after you adjust the trigger. Definitely don’t throw it away.
Looks great, the only gripe i had with my older generation was the stock so i went ahead and swapped that for a bell and carlson. Now these new gens have me very interested if i decide to get another rifle in a different caliber.
The adjustable LOP on the Gen II Ranch rifles is gonna be so cash. Looking forward to these.
Nice new bing bang Who Tee Who. I my self just dropped a doe yesterday with my new bing bang Mossberg Patriot in 350 legend she probably went around $130 40 lb dropped her in her tracks at 30 yards
Awesome!
Mannnn I can’t WAIT to see how this thing groups! Looks like quite the package!
Stay tuned
Looking forward to seeing more on this.
I REALLY want one of the new American Ranch rifles in 300 Blackout!
My truck is getto.. lol
Super funny.
Love ruger.
😆😆😆
Have original predator in 6.5mm creedmoor with aics magazine and bought the go wild predator 7mm-08 this year with aics magazine. Both are deer catching machines. Been wanting one in 308 so I'm glad caught this video. Budget friendly and very durable rifles. I've been beating the ever loving shit out of them carrying and climbing into and out of stands. They aren't the nicest or smoothest rifles out of the box but damn they're tough , dependable and accurate
Super nice ! Have u got old video of a tikka and got to do another of the 307 when u get time. I did put the Arkin on mine 6-24 awesome scope
Haven't done any tikka
I'm not sure if you could change the bolt knob on the old ones ,I have never owned one. But the new one looks like you can replace it with a different one. Let me know if you can. Keep up the great work. I really enjoy your content.
Can't wait to see the sight in video on this one. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Looking forward to seeing great videos in the new year...
Merry Christmas!
I think this what I have been waiting for Ruger American deserves a better stock it’s a great rifle.
The blueish gray spackle pattern looks sweet
Man that's funny. I just knew moment I read Ruger has a American Gen 2 not long til I seen you do a video on one 😂. I wouldn't mind a .223 Bolt Action or even a 7mm08 too.
You hushing your truck's "music" was awesome 😂
Happy holidays!
😆😆😆
I like it they definitely done a upgrade can’t wait to see the groups you get out of it ol buddy
Two questions does it still have the American zipper sound on the bolt? Second question does it feed single rounds better than Gen 1?
Keep up the great!!!
God Bless and Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
Haven't fed it yet. Stay tuned
I looked at a Gen II, Directly out of the box. Bolt has been smoothed. It would slide back and forth via gravity only.
@@EricChmelarskyagree…I happened to come across two of the Gen 2’s…a standard and a ranch…both bolt were smooth
Someone said let’s mash up a Bergara, a savage 110, and a high end tikka and call
It the gen 2 lol. Lots of people will be getting them and buying new bottom metal for a hinged floor plate or a flush mag though.
Dnt throw out that plastic thing..I believe it's the gizmo that helps take off the mag release so you can get to the action screw.
Get your deer’s and check back in January when we need a good gun fix! Good luck and merry Christmas bub
Nice review from Dr. Who. I wish all the bolt rifles -- across all brands -- would standardize their magazines. Especially with .223, .308, and 30-06 size cartridges.
I agree but, where’s the manufacturer’s motivation to do so? They want you to buy THEIR product…so a lot will stay proprietary
@@scotteger6271 I totally agree -- and many times their magazines are marginal. I know Mossberg uses AR mags for their 223. I have thought about buying one of their 223 rifles for that reason.
@@chriscosby2459 Ruger also uses AR mags for their 223/5.56 rifles…these Gen 2 Americans are much better than a Mossberg patriot
@@scotteger6271 I hear a lot of negative reviews of the Mossberg Patriot Rifles. I have never owned a Mossberg rifle -- I have owned a couple of Mossberg shotguns.
That’s a tool to remove the mag release, then you can remove the action to adjust the trigger or swap it stocks.
Another great review, as usual...
Missed the live! Darn! But them look good! Looking forward to the slanging video!l now! Merry Christmas WTW and Family! God bless yall!
Merry Christmas!
