Very helpful teardown, thank you! I wore my charge 3 in the pool for the first time this past weekend and the hr monitor is busted. Screen is fine. It's about 4 months outside of warranty, of course. I agree the lack of conformal coating is absolute bullshit. Fitbit gave me a 35% discount code to use on their store, which appears to be standard practice from them looking at forums, and is a bit extreme imo. A company shouldn't need to do that. It would seem to indicate to me that they're aware their products are crap when it comes to water/ingress protection.

I do think that's part of their business plan as it makes them sell more devices. Such a shame that manufacturers are doing business like this 😂

Fitbit are poor products, best avoided. My wife had an Inspire HR where the plastic mount holding the strap disintegrated within warranty. Fitbit sent out a reconditioned unit as a replacement and after 4 months that then became water damaged like yours above and completely died.
Fitbit washed their hands of the matter as the replacement item got them over the warranty deadline so all they offered was a paltry discount for a new item. Why would anyone purchase another Fitbit given such problems with previous ownership.

It's a bad company that doesn't really care about their customers. A real shame 😔

Seems a very thin feeler gauge would work to help get the screen separated? I have moisture under my screen but not sure it's worth the hassle?

Yes I think that that should work. You are able to get a replacement screen for around €15,- but you'll need to glue it down yourself. I think it's worth a shot if you're up for the challenge. Please do let me know what type of glue you used

Fitbit is all about cutting corners, manufacturing cheap garbage. They started a great idea/ invision in the industry, but poor execution.
