I've been playing stardew valley in Korean a lot and was taken aback that all the time spent fishing in the game taught me several useful fish names because a lot of fish mentioned in this video exist in the game. I loved hearing these interactions, truly precious. ❤
This game is golden! I feel bad because whenever I try to play it I just leave it aside after a while. it may be because I don't know its mechanics quite well, such a good game.

That guy on the corner always gives service snacks (although you got more than I usually got). I went there to buy dried ginger and nuts. A lot of the stalls have a tiny restaurant in the back, if you look past the sellers into the back of their stall. I think you can buy fresh fish and they'll cook it for you and you can eat it on-site (although, maybe that's closed down with the pandemic?). I've never done the cook-and-eat-on-site thing because 1. I'm not fond of most seafood and 2. I like fish but I'm not confident I could explain what I want (in Korean ... yet)
The 곰장어 "phlegm producing sea eel" in 7:58 is a "hagfish". The slime it produces contains strong natural fibers, and is amazing stuff! It's currently being tested as a shark repellent. Future industrial & medical applications include: fire suppression, body armor, auto parts, and tissue & tendon replacement.

That was one of the coolest videos Billy. I know a Korean gal who lives in Busan .. I met her years ago when she was doing an internship for University. I've kept in touch with her and didn't know that different regions of Korea had different dialects. I've done a little bit of studying on different places in Korea and the two places I want to go to the most are Busan and Jeju. It's probably because I like beach areas.
Love this video! Honestly I could watch you walking around town talking to people in Korean all day. And it motivates me to get back to studying Korean, I fell off track a little bit but I really miss it and still would love to be able to become conversational in it.

Love this style of video. As a complete beginner, I somehow I feel both inspired and slightly demoralized by Billy's ~16 years of experience 😵I wish I had the ability to interact with native speakers that fluently 🙏🏼 Just found your channel today, so I'll be subscribing. As a videographer, allow me to offer a friendly suggestion for the markets in the future: It's difficult when you're doing "run and gun" filming, but since you have multiple cameras going -- if you were to dedicate one of them to a higher framerate (say at least 60fps), you can make some nice cuts of the food on display by carefully moving it across the product and having your editor slow down the framerate to 24fps for the final cut. It makes a nice dreamy presentation that would let us viewers really appreciate the details of the incredible market displays! (this assumes the rest of your video is in 24fps or similar).
I'm the editor, and I pick 30fps for most of my videos (except some of them) because I like them to feel more real. For these sorts of videos, I simply handed 2 other cameras to the other TH-camrs helping me (Korean Arah and Korean Jream), and asked them to film me or film whatever they'd like. It'd be difficult to get specific shots of food or things that we look at as I don't have any hired assistants, so I usually end up trying to film those on my own during the day when possible (this time it wasn't possible because our time was limited and this place was busy). Although I recently upgraded my main camera, so that would be a bit better for the next time. For this video, there was only one actual camera with a lens that we took turns holding, a Gopro on my backpack, and another Gopro that was being handed around.
Even though I don’t eat meat this was so fun and helpful to watch! The one vendor commented on how your intonation is excellent and for foreigners that’s not typical. So how do we get that natural Korean intonation!??
Lots and lots of exposure and practice :-) And trying purposefully to sound like they sound. "Shadowing" can be helpful for that sort of thing, once you're already able to have full conversations.
I spent some time in Korea with my wife about a year after I started learning the language. I was at this same market with my wife’s cousin and she made me try some beondaegi. They they said I would like it because there’s a lot of protein in it.. It wasn’t very good 🤪🤪 I had a great time eating king crab at that same market In Busan. 우리 한국 갈 때 제 안에 사촌 번데기 추천했어요. 건강 음식 말았어요. 왜 라면 단백질 많이 있어요. 그런데 나는 먹었어요. 하지만 못 없었어😂😂😂

But to me bondaegi is like vegemite, it tastes like something that shouldn't be edible
