I live in SF and I've paid ~$15 for two salmon egg rolls a couple years back. The taste? For some reason reminds me of a good sausage I've had. Prices around the bay is ridiculous.

My main culture is Laotian and I grew up rolling eggrolls with my dad. Usually we do pork (sometimes shrimp) and he always gets excited if we have some extra filling because then we would wrap them in the rice wrappers and only him and i would eat them like its our reward from rolling all the eggrolls for the family 🤣.

Eat some fish spring rolls. My family does it with sheepshead slow cooked whole on the grill. Add some small fried shallots and some type of flavored oil ontop of the fish afterward and you got a meal.

Yea! Glad you can fish again....stay safe XD
edit: that was a male dunges....you should tell people each time how to spot the difference in male and female crabs for new viewers. :) Can you show how to gut a fish? I don't think I've seen that on your channel before :P
great camera work, editing and music during the prep stage was amazing too good volume levels for the chopping and music...always good editing and sound...i don't have to touch my volume like on some other channels i follow.
I've had lobster egg rolls before....it was great....crab sounds good too. Also like the garden part, make it longer. I really like the garden part, it needs to be longer I want to see the plants not get a tiny glance XD told my elderly mom about the self watering stuff....she decided to buy some pots like that XD

As you are adding the fish/crab mixture to the wrapper, add a little mint leaf. That way you won’t over power the mixture. Mint adds a fresh aromatic flavor to the roll. Just a little.

My uncle used to put shrimp and ground pork in his eggrolls at the family restaurant. You need to press/salt the carrots, cabbage, bean sprouts,, etc to draw out the water.. so it won't be so "wet" inside.. veggies have a better crunch and you can freeze the excess rolls for later.. that's proper eggroll making.. Crab rice wrapper rolls look insane. wanna try it with lobster..

Hi Taku, I'm wondering if you could do a video on fish aging? Which fish is suitable for aging and how to do so? I recently purchased fish from Riviera seafood club and they killed their fish using ikejime method making it suitable for aging. So I'm seeking to find whether it is possible to age fish (espcially their blue fin tuna) at hime.
    Thanks a bunch!

Tried making the rice paper rolls tonight and they kept blowing up when I put them in the oil. Huge bubbles would form in the paper, often popping themselves open and letting oil into the roll or even spilling the contents into the pot. What am I doing wrong? Oil too hot?
The flavor was perfect though. Made some with snapper and some with tuna and both were delicious, despite the catastrophic structural failure of the rolls.

OK writing from land-locked San Jose .... gotta see if some lingcod shows up at H Mart. No car and not close enough to the ocean to ride my bike there so I might as well be in Kansas. Wait does Kansas have an H Mart?
I got one of those huge Chinese cleaver knives on sale, $12.99 which is an outlier for me, generally I'll only buy knives for a $5-spot or less.
Did I mention this? Take a mallow (malva species) leaf, it's a weed that grows everywhere, anyway, take a leaf and cut off the stem, and fry it in a pan in a little oil until crispy, and put a little salt on and enjoy - better than potato chips!

I have always wanted to try some dungeness crab cakes. It would be interesting to try a dungeness crab cake with an asian flavor profile, maybe panko crusted, some sort of sauce using Japanese mayo and fish sauce/spices (something like that anyways). Maybe finished kind of like takoyaki with the sauces and smoked bonito flakes...

FYI Crab eggrolls (in rice paper) are very popular and considered a traditional dish in Vietnam. Google "nem cua bể" if you want more info/ recipe
