What a godsend!
"Fast up" and "Slow down" is a great vibrato exercise technique.
This is one of the clearest explanations of vibrato that I’ve seen. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your great video
So nice of you… glad it is helpful!
Excellent Thanksgiving
Thank you Ronald!!
Of course!
Thanks a lot)
You are welcome!

Thank you for watching the video!
Obrigado!!! pelo vídeo incrível
I'm so glad this helps you! Thank YOU
Why don't you wipe off the rosin dust?
I know.. Right?
I will recommend that all of my violin and viola students refer to this video to refine their vibrato technique.
That is great!! Thank you
THIS is what I needed.
That’s awesome! Thank you
I have both the Warming Up book and the DVD. You explain it better than Simon Fischer himself. Thanks a lot for this very helpful Video ❤️
Wow.. What a wonderful comment.. Thank you
This is interesting, I don't teach this type of vibrato to beginning violists, is there a reason you start with finger/wrist vibrato? I was always told (and teach) arm vibrato first. Violin students, it's a different story!
I try not to differentiate between different vibratos and notice that different people gravitate towards different vibrato styles. I will make a video about this! Thank you for your comment and I am a fan of yours '
Do you recommend learning the finger/wrist vibrato in 3rd position before progressing to 1st position?
If it is more comfortable for you
Challenge accepted! Starting today, 5-17-23! Question though - are you doing 1-8 daily? I did 1 and 2 only, for each finger on each string in 1st position. I'm guessing after the movement is natural, to advance beyond 2 in pairs (like 3 and 4, then 5 and 6, etc.)?
Yes.. Take your time.. No rush..you will get there.. Keep me posted on your progress!
@@RonaldHouston I absolutely will, so this will be a post with updates, probably every 10 days.
As of 5-27-24: The dpi of the fingers has always been loose for me, so I couldn't figure out why the vibrato was so shallow, until I realized a big issue - my left hand frame wasn't consistent - when I realized that I made sure my fingers were over the string, save the first, so when I started the exercise again, I was able to get that wide vibrato. I am practicing at m=50, because I have to relearn bad habits from when I played in college (a huge one is releasing pressure/relaxing the joint when going below the note, makes things much easier). That being said, I've been concentrating a bit on it everyday, while exercising patience, and I know it'll be successful.
I think I need a bigger shoulder piece I'm having trouble keeping my violin stationary at my neck. When I try to do vibrato I end up shaking the whole violin lol I also seemed to be having trouble hitting my e chord without hitting the a simultaneously.
Ooh... You need to figure out the mechanics of your lh
What kind of chin rest are you using? Thanks!
Ah... Yes... That is my brandt style raised chinrest... So comfortable and available at my website... Violazone.com...
violazone.com/products/frisch-and-denig-chinrest
There is a video at the site... It had been a blessing to use this chinrest! Cheers!
Thank you very much! Heading there now.
This video is infused with great vibes.
Good pun
Hi Ronald, I seem to be able to do it all apart from the very last part - the vibrato. I feel like it will never come, I just can't understand how you move so fast.
Have patience! It takes a long time but you will get there
@@RonaldHouston is this the same for violin as viola?
