I must say... i heard this piece for the first time on spotify, and must say that i fell in love with the monody of the sound. I have never try to see it being played irl, but now that i have seen it, its as awesome and incredible as i think. Its play with such violence but it doesnt lose the elegance that it has... For me, it has become one of my favorite pieces of music.

Going out on a limb here. So a company called Sensicore used to make Octave Strings for violas. They were bought out by D'Addario, who still offers Octave Strings for violin (makes your violin sound like a viola), but not for violas (makes the viola sound like a cello). Question is: Does anyone else make such deep sounding strings for the viola to make it sound more like a cello?

Hello! Question, I’m playing the concerto right now (from the sketches). My Prof. pointed out an interesting ‘issue’ in the 13th bar (end of the first exposition)- a sextuplet followed by a quintuplet run to B flat. I understand it makes sense to go faster the lower you go, but a quintuplet is slower than a sextuplet. Does musicality justify wrong rhythm? I feel like Bartok would have written it so if he wanted such an abrupt end to the run…
