An offensive line that doesn't know how to defend, two concussions and three cracked ribs in less than a month, think about that. Firstly, thanks for setting Matt straight. It feels like I lose IQ points while listening to him. Secondly, in analyzing offensive plays in the next few videos, keep in mind that the Saints offense will not look exactly like the 49ers. Kubiak said the first thing he did was talk to Carr and got feedback from him on what he liked to do. Carr is a gunslinger and is at his best when he is winging it. However, he can do it all, including quick passes and he is a good roll out passer. I can remember only two roll out passes last year. One went to Foster for about 15 yards and another one went for a TD to Graham. Roll out passes as well as quick passes help the offensive line but they will still take their shots down the field. With Carr the whole playbook is open to Kubiak. Carr is also good against the blitz, unlike Purdy.

But in the second game, he called the long pass to Shaheed that iced the game. In 2016, he had 7 game winning drives with 5 of them being touchdown drives, both NFL records. Devante Adams had more 30+ TD receptions in his 15 games with Carr than he had all those years with Rodgers. Carr is at his best when the game is on the line and the coaches get out of the way and just let him sling it. He said he used to always dream of having the ball in his hands with the game on the line as a kid. He wears that sleeve on his left arm in honor of Koby Bryant. He was good friends with Bryant and strives to have that “mamba mentality” in his game. Maybe you should try to get to know your QB instead of being so ridiculously critical.

Carr came to the Saints released from the Raiders by a coach who got fired the following year. Last year, he came to the Saints with an off season full of uncertainty. He had no idea of what type of characters he would deal with in the locker room. Come to find out there were a few haters. Thomas, Olave, the Center, and lowkey Winston. Then you have to adjust to learning and building chemistry all the while garnering only two thirds of the snap because they want to make a learning offense more predictable by bringing Hill in to consume snaps. Even after all that the Saints were one win away from being in the playoffs. With that said, Carr now has some chemistry with the team plus a full off-season. This will be Carr's make it or break it year if the oline and defense plays well. A lot to look forward to. WhoDat!! WhoDat!!
People act like carr sucks when he is one of the best players we have on offense (maybe the best between him and olave or taysom). Like every qb he needs protection and the receivers knowing their routes (they need to stop acting like he was throwing to empty spots just randomly). If he has those hia stats will be close to the top 10 as they always are, if everything comes around and clicks then he will be in the 5-8 range, that is what he should be producing and mvp votes are his ceiling.

You dont understand his points because he makes none, he is known as a carr hater, ive been saying you know more ball than him and his fans get mad. He acts like the giants and bucs werent in winning streaks (In fact the bucs ended like 6-1 with our game being their only loss). Carr usually is top 12 (statistically he is in the top 10 in most stats every year even when hes considered to be playing bad) but he can give stretches in which he play as a top 5-8 qb if he has good protection and even has shown that he can play at a mvp level, he wouldve probably won it in 2016 if he didnt break his leg and was the early favorite in 2021 before the gruden drama (in fact they were the only team to start 3-0 with wins over teams with 10+ wins the previous season). The only problem will be assembling the system fast (receivers also need to know their routes and checks).

Man, I love your takes on the Saints. I used to watch other Saints media, and I've realized that there's a large majority of our fan base that just doesn't want to accept change, and are constantly living in the past.
Everyone should watch Carr’s 2016 season and to be honest, he’ll look a lot like he did the last 6 games of 2023. The reason Carr got MVP votes in 2016, is because he was great in the “High leverage situations” that season(he had a still NFL record of 7 game winning TD passes in a season) AND he found ways to beat teams he was supposed to beat. Here’s a legitimate critique of DC, he handles adversity better than success. I wouldn’t be surprised if Carr goes 4-2 in the first 6 games next season and then 2-4 when the schedule softens up. If he can tap into his 2016 mindset and go 4-2 in both 6 game stretches and 4-1 to finish it out, it’ll be a 12 win potentially special season.

I do feel like if kubiak really utilizes the run game first style like the 49ers it can possibly get Carr to that “top 10” people are saying he should be at or want him to be at. The biggest proof of that is Brock Purdy last year. They turned a QB who was not perceived as great or however you want to put it and made him into a top 10 QB, it was just all because of the system they ran🤷🏾 and it started with the run game.

That means that Carr was directly responsible for virtually every point that was scored over that span. The saints weren't a good team last season bc they had one of the worst run games in the NFL. Goff's offensive lines with the Lions: 2021 - #13 offensive line 2022 - #3 offensive line 2023 - #5 offensive line It's not everything, but it certainly contributes to a quarterback's success tremendously.

I agree I been saying this whole off season Klint knows our best player is AK41 without doubt in my mind. The saints now seem like the Ravens of the2011/ 2012 era Joe Flaco was never elite but was good sometimes great enough to lead them to the playoffs. The team functioned off strong defense strong run game and an average QB with good weapons around him.

Rich Gannon goes to Oakland. 1st year 24 TD's (team goes 8-8), 2nd year 28 TD's (team goes 12-4). Trent Green goes to Kansas City. 1st year 17 TD's (team goes 6-10). 2nd year 26 TD's (team goes 8-8) (3rd year 13-3, but we're only looking at 1st and 2nd years here). We can dig through and cherry pick data all day to try to prove one point or another or we can do actual research and pull up a large sample size to see if there's any long term trend to the idea of a quarterback either getting better or regressing in his 2nd year with a new team.

Secondly, in analyzing offensive plays in the next few videos, keep in mind that the Saints offense will not look exactly like the 49ers. Kubiak said the first thing he did was talk to Carr and got feedback from him on what he liked to do. Carr is a gunslinger and is at his best when he is winging it. However, he can do it all, including quick passes and he is a good roll out passer.
I can remember only two roll out passes last year. One went to Foster for about 15 yards and another one went for a TD to Graham. Roll out passes as well as quick passes help the offensive line but they will still take their shots down the field. With Carr the whole playbook is open to Kubiak. Carr is also good against the blitz, unlike Purdy.
It won’t look *exactly* like SF, but if you look at the % of sets from SF and Kubiak’s time as OC, you can get a good idea of what they’ll be running

But in the second game, he called the long pass to Shaheed that iced the game. In 2016, he had 7 game winning drives with 5 of them being touchdown drives, both NFL records. Devante Adams had more 30+ TD receptions in his 15 games with Carr than he had all those years with Rodgers.
Carr is at his best when the game is on the line and the coaches get out of the way and just let him sling it. He said he used to always dream of having the ball in his hands with the game on the line as a kid. He wears that sleeve on his left arm in honor of Koby Bryant. He was good friends with Bryant and strives to have that “mamba mentality” in his game. Maybe you should try to get to know your QB instead of being so ridiculously critical.

Carr came to the Saints released from the Raiders by a coach who got fired the following year. Last year, he came to the Saints with an off season full of uncertainty. He had no idea of what type of characters he would deal with in the locker room. Come to find out there were a few haters. Thomas, Olave, the Center, and lowkey Winston. Then you have to adjust to learning and building chemistry all the while garnering only two thirds of the snap because they want to make a learning offense more predictable by bringing Hill in to consume snaps. Even after all that the Saints were one win away from being in the playoffs. With that said, Carr now has some chemistry with the team plus a full off-season. This will be Carr's make it or break it year if the oline and defense plays well. A lot to look forward to. WhoDat!! WhoDat!!

Carr usually is top 12 (statistically he is in the top 10 in most stats every year even when hes considered to be playing bad) but he can give stretches in which he play as a top 5-8 qb if he has good protection and even has shown that he can play at a mvp level, he wouldve probably won it in 2016 if he didnt break his leg and was the early favorite in 2021 before the gruden drama (in fact they were the only team to start 3-0 with wins over teams with 10+ wins the previous season).
The only problem will be assembling the system fast (receivers also need to know their routes and checks).

Man, I love your takes on the Saints. I used to watch other Saints media, and I've realized that there's a large majority of our fan base that just doesn't want to accept change, and are constantly living in the past.
Everyone should watch Carr’s 2016 season and to be honest, he’ll look a lot like he did the last 6 games of 2023.
The reason Carr got MVP votes in 2016, is because he was great in the “High leverage situations” that season(he had a still NFL record of 7 game winning TD passes in a season) AND he found ways to beat teams he was supposed to beat.
Here’s a legitimate critique of DC, he handles adversity better than success.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Carr goes 4-2 in the first 6 games next season and then 2-4 when the schedule softens up.
If he can tap into his 2016 mindset and go 4-2 in both 6 game stretches and 4-1 to finish it out, it’ll be a 12 win potentially special season.

I do feel like if kubiak really utilizes the run game first style like the 49ers it can possibly get Carr to that “top 10” people are saying he should be at or want him to be at. We can dig through and cherry pick data all day to try to prove one point or another or we can do actual research and pull up a large sample size to see if there's any long term trend to the idea of a quarterback either getting better or regressing in his 2nd year with a new team.

It's around a similar ballpark imo at least based on a very quick lookup. Baker only got a 3 year contract, and it's $50 mil less but also includes up to $150 mil in incentives. Both Carr and Cousins signed 4 year contracts, one for $150 mil and the other for $180 mil. Granted, the other two contracts came this year as opposed to last year but it's pretty similar
