@@lisaisa exactly, yes of course EA is at fault for not making sure this didn’t happen but glitches happen after packs releasing but it’s not like they put that in the game on purpose. I’ve never seen this in my game, I think who this glitch happened to are a minority. Still I’m glad the sims 4 is still trying to fix it and that should be recognized.

Just tell the Sims team to try to fix this glitch, it wasn't even something common, there was no need to get angry at the team as if they did this on purposes and as if they didn't try to fix it. Because they did fix it, it just came back after many years. There are many reasons why people could get angry at the Sims team. Like bugs that just never really disappear, or that appear again after a month even tho they said they fixed and the bug just getting worst from there. But this? @@math_plant yeah for example i have a mod that makes pets playable and it accidentally opened up the romance menu in my game i never used it so idk if it adds romance if you try but it's just a stupid glitch. EA definitely should fix something when it's not a mods fault but let's not throw hate for something unintentional.

From a coder's perspective, Sims toddlers are probably coded similarly to adults, but with certain features turned off. Sentiments probably accidentally over rode the original code as it was a gameplay overhaul system.
the sims community is... annoying... to put it politely. yes, this is a disturbing glitch and hopefully it gets fixed asap, but it's only that, a GLITCH, it's not intentional game design. i understand the outrage toward the gross mod, that was definitely something that required a call out. but now they're just starting unnecessary drama. personally i've never experienced this glitch, both with tons of mods and without, and i've been playing since Get To Work. it seems pretty rare. i'm sorry to the people who were genuinely triggered by it, but for those who were "triggered" on behalf of someone else... please stop. this glitch doesn't need to be made a huge deal. like they were directed to, they should report it like they would with any other glitch and either move on, or uninstall the game if need be.

Yeah people go through different things and some cases are worse than others but....it's a little pink bar I see no legitimate reason someone would be triggered by this, since you can: 1: Use cheats and remove the romance/pink bar by negating it 2: Reload a previous save file? It's not like this glitch corrupts your game or anything, it's a bug and if anything it's a rare one.

I understand that seeing something like that can be very upsetting and disgusting, but people need to step back from calling any of this intentional because it certainly was not. Errors happen and can be fixed. If you are in too fragile of a state to be able to get through seeing it in your game by chance, then please seek therapy and uninstall the game.

I think, if just seeing some toddler that doesn't even look real at all flirting with an adult in a game because of a glitch gives you such extreme flashbacks, you shouldn't just go to therapy, you should check yourself in and only come out after the therapy is finished. Cuz if something like that can trigger you so easily, you probably can't go out or go on the internet. I've had a panic attack before because something triggered bad memory's, it's no joke. I saw a glitch that made my young adult female sim have a romantic relationship with her mother, I didn't want to play that household anymore because it was so akward and I didn't know how to fix it without deleting the household, I hope they fix all of it.
I'm sorry for people on console but that's why I have mods. My game is set with MCCC so sims can't flirt autonomously. Mods have really saved my gameplay

This happened to me yesterday! My adult sims were flirting in the kitchen and the toddler came in to say something to the mom and she wound up getting relationship points. However it fortunately wasn’t enough for a relationship bar to appear.

My game's too modded and I've never had this. I think the mod Mc Command Center removes this bug _(unintentionally)_ since it overrides relationships if you have that module installed. it's one of the most popular mods so I can see why this bug isn't well known.
I would not mind the glitch if it was just patchy getting into some crazy shenanigans and sometimes scare the living hell out of other sims at night at least with that glitch it would add some cartoon comedy and horror to the game but instead it always has to be something gross.
They need to get the romantic conversations fixed! Right now anyone joins automatically and it just doesn't make any sense. and the most important thing, Toddlers shouldn't be able to have a romance bar. Neither do kids. and Family relationships need to be adjusted. last time I played my sim aged up from kid to teen the same day as his cousin, and just because she was flirty they got a romance bar and I hated it . I have mods, but I made sure that none of them affected that. situation. And the bad thing is that even if you want to remove it with mods you can't. Once you get a romance bar with someone even if you don't have any romance progress the bar is still there.

I've seen this glitch a couple years ago the baby sitter would start flirting with my freaking toddler and when I first saw it I was outraged! I didn't understand why it happened but I haven't seen it in a long time.

I feel like if they would replace "romantic" with "love" or "fondness" or "affection" it would a) not be gross anymore and b) open up relationships for aromantic players/sims without taking away from existing features.
I get it, but right now only romantic interactions increase the pink bar. Friendly interactions already raise the green one that is for affection/fondness.

I love the Sims 4 because it is so sweet, you can create your own beautiful stories. @@libera7161 The best feature of WickedWhims always was their menstruation, pregnancy and attraction (similar to sims2) settings. You can deactivate what you dont want and by now they already have a tame version of this mod without nakedness, etc involved. The attraction system adds more personality traits and more gameplay.

I remember when get togethee came out,i was playing on a save file and once when i opened the relationship panel,i saw that the dad had romatic relationship with his toddler daughter,i was so shocked that i deleted that save file as fast as possible since it triggered some bad memories that one of my relatives experienced in their childhood
Being someone who was sexually assaulted as a kid, yes some things trigger memories, but I know a game is something, to me, that doesn't as it is never how it is in a game VS real life. I know I will get skinned for this, BUT the relationships don't form unless they make them. Scared they fall in love, change your settings so you control the game and their interactions. I play with Mods and I have no issues at all... Maybe, just maybe it is the players not the game. If it was, don't make a big fuss of it, report it... Will you document a crime on social media before going to the cops? If yes, then please go get yourself checked... I've noticed it if my teen sim has the flirty trait they will flirt with their parents/ siblings and I've just ignored it but never experienced it with toddlers thank god
@@Hannahsx I don't know much about programming, but wouldn't it be simply checking the sim's age, then if they're a toddler/child, check if there's a romantic relationship between them and any sim, and then setting it to zero?
@@DeadFawn not necessarily, no, i mean, it sounds good, but doing that could potentially cause even more issues in the code; if it doesn't read right, for instance, it could end up doing the same for adults you're trying to romance, as well. It shouldn't, of course, but things like that can happen regardless. A lot of glitches can occur because of code not reading right. Some of it can be written as basic as "if (this), do (this)," and something as small as that could cause a memory leak. It may seem and sound simple, but with coding, there are about a thousand ways it could go wrong. If it's an easy fix, they should try that first, but if it keeps cropping up with future updates, then they could do something more complicated like that. It's usually better to go simple first, fixing it probably the same way they did before, as this existed in 2015 and only seems to have come back now.

I get this glitch when I use cheats to adjust the relationship stats between the parents if a parent and child share the same last name and first letter of firstname.
that’s really specific and luckily i don’t have that problem in my game cuz it definitely woulda shown up by now because i name my sims based off of the first letter of their parents name (it’s a really annoying habit i have because with some names it’s almost impossible to find a name that doesn’t sound stupid)
This game is full of glitches. It’s obviously not on purpose, but really shows how EA doesn’t put enough effort into double checking the game is functional. All sorts of stuff is a mess, but they don’t clean it up.

I remember this glitch happening to me all the way back in 2015 when one of the sims in my household had a beginning of a romantic meter with his daughter (child btw this was when toddlers didn’t exist lol) I think it was a bug with the game trying to keep the “storytelling” going while playing with a different household. Either way 13 year old me was really confused and creeped tf out😭
I remember watching Cindy (pleasantsims) live stream her legacy challenge. This was very recent like in December or January. So crazy how this is happening in game for people. :(
I had something similar happen with my teen sims. Sister was speaking to her boyfriend, and her brother joined the conversation, and suddenly they were from Alabama. I had no idea how to fix, so I downloaded MCCC which can clean that issue up for you.
That glitch ruined the entire family storyline I was playing in. I had a typical family a mom a dad and like three kids 1 child 2 toddlers the mother gained a pink bar with one of her toddlers somehow and the dad saw that their romance bar went down they got angry with eachother i tried using mc command center to get rid of the pink bar but it didn't work. The father and mother hated eachother now! and I had to use another save file i had of the game.
I haven't had this exact glitch, but I did have a child Sim get flirty after eating a pink cupcake out of the Snowy Escape vending machine which I guess gave a flirty effect. I just wanted a pink cupcake :/ I put her to bed right away though so I didn't see if she could get romance from that.
Once my child had a "romanticly relashionship" with the mom bc the parents were flirting while talking to the kid. I realised it was a glitch and deleted the relashionship imediatly. I know it wasn't intended. Never saw it happenn again.
I don’t think people understand that everytime EA updates the game they may fix1-2 glitches but more may happen, that’s just how coding works with games tbh and to say they are doing it on purpose is flat out wrong. I understand seeing this may be uncomfortable but people need to understand glitches happen and they are not being done on purpose! I swear to god everytime a new bug occurs the sims 4 community instantly puts on their tin foil hats and start a conspiracy about it, it’s so tiring tbh.

I mod the shit out of my game so when I saw heart symbols appear over an infants head when a parent interacted with it, I thought it was just something broken because of my mods. Turns out it wasn't. Oof.
While playing with the pack "Snowy Escape", there's a festival of youth happening in it. Once children got blessed from the adults, there's a weird empty double bar (which is friend and romance) along with a blue square icon below the individual (who just blessed the child) in their friends list , I honestly don't know if people have experienced the same issue as mine but I couldn't help but being extremely bothered by this glitch :/
Why are people acting like this was an intentional thing, when immediately after EA found out a mod was created to add these features for real and they warned everyone that anyone who uses those mods, would be banned from having EA accounts? It’s a glitch, it needs to get fixed, but it was never intentional.
I've had a similar problem to this for years, ever since I downloaded the Discover University Pack. When I would play with family households and allow a roommate to live with them, often the roommate would get lonely and would start serenading the toddlers, children, and teens of the family. This allowed for the romantic interest bar to exist and increase. I have play tested this several times and have "repaired" the game to see if it would correct itself, but it wouldn't. Because there wasn't a patch or anything to address the glitch, I have stopped using the roommate feature because that is not ok. I had honestly thought I was the only person with that glitch and I'm grateful people are speaking up about this!!
I think they were trying to be rude just to for the sake of being rude. It’s not like the game changers told EA to make this a ‘glitch’. They should not have hinted something that gross onto other players as if it’s their fault or something.
I'm glad that I haven't had this issue..... It would dredge up old wounds for my siblings and me.... That is not okay but I also think that most simmers wouldn't experience this glitch.... I remember having that glitch once in 2019. I ended up murdering my sim’s husband and having her remarry a new sim. I assumed that the EA was just sick and chose to autonomously create a small percentage of pedophiles in the game. Just in case, I’ve never allowed male flirty sims around toddler sims again.
I've been playing Sims since 2000, currently have almost 100Gb mods + CC, and I have NEVER encountered this. I think it is a glitch in the coding where the code doesn't read/recognise the ages of the respective characters....like someone already said, patches can wreak havoc on coding and it doesn't seem intentional to me. I am really happy that EA is addressing the issue though, as a lot of people will be aware of this now and waiting with breath held to see when it will be fixed. Good luck to EA's team.

Ok, so toddlers can have a romantic bar? I can see a glitch with teens/adults having relationships because something goes wrong with the age restriction code, but toddlers were added way after sims 4 came out. Like WAY after, two years or something? So why would something you added to the game later be able to have this glitch other than sloppy coding? Toddlers should not have a romantic bar period. I know they are technically 'sims' in code and I guess what they did was re-use the code to make them, but if they had just actually 'created' them and not copy/pasted it to begin with it would not be a problem. It's just really, really sloppy coding. I haven't played sims 4 in years, but this is stupid.
My game is so glitched oml, I've been expierencing my sims flirting with their parents or my sims wife flirting with her step parents and I'm like AAHHHHHH PLEASE-, but my game has also been crashing which it never has before so I just kinda put the game down

I'M HAVING THIS HAPPEN RIGHT NOW! I have had the game for years and it never happened before now. At first, I ignored it because it was just the bar empty so I thought "okay, weird, but no actual relationship building" Now that the dad and daughter's friendship bar is up the full way, it's adding little bits to the romance bar over time like it would a sim in a romantic relationship. I think it has to do with how often the sim feels flirty when talking to her, but that could be *because* of her (which is...ew)She's a child and the relationship bar is about a tenth of the way full. Cheats work to take it off, but the bar stays and it re-builds. I want to fix it before she becomes a teen because I'm afraid the romantic interactions will unlock 😨🤢🤮 I really hope we can get this fixed, I'm going to go download that save file right now.
Hey! I’ve had this glitch happened to me before and here is some advice: first of all, the daughter becoming a teen WON’T unlock romantic interactions (at least it shouldn’t, as it didn’t happen in my game). However, her becoming a _young adult_ might unlock them (I’m not actually sure). My advice is that you move the daughter out as soon as she becomes a young adult (or even earlier) as I’ve noted the relationship bars stop constantly going up when sims don’t live together anymore. I’m sorry this is happening to you and I hope it gets resolved soon! Don’t hesitate to report the glitch to EA! :)

That's super solid advice and you really helped me; I was playing an original story where I'm trying to build a mafia-type family descended from the Alto's, so working their way to basicalky buying the sims-world (or as much of it as they can) and taking over in the name of their family. I can Totally work it in where the mom starts moving around, both deepening the story with a busy, absent father and workaholic mother, and allowing me to drive them to take over the world faster; not only does it solve my problem, it enhances my gameplay and overall experience! Thankfully, I've never had this bug. And even when I installed a certain mod, I made sure that the adults would not perform any sexual interactions if any children or toddlers were present, because, just, ew. I remember in I think Sims 3, sometimes children would walk in on their parents "woohooing", and applaud and cheer. That was unwelcome as well and eventually fixed.
i agree with some people about the gross mods that were made, it is just a game and does not reflect real life, that's the whole point. but we can't just let things like this go, especially when this can be used to fabricate and distribute CSAM.

The sims is quite complex and even small addtions might break things. One situation where this can potentially happen is if say the two parents are in a flirty convo with each other and the child joins in at the wrong time.
I remember installing custom traits, one of them was called "sensual" or something like that, and available for young adults-elders only; a sensual sim could put other sims in the room in the flirty mood. BUT children and toddlers would become flirty too. How does the game allow children/toddlers to experience the flirty mood? I was so freaking confuse.
I’m not a fan of the sims team lately but why are people acting like they purposely did this? Yes it’s still gross and disturbing but it’s a GLITCH, you can’t decide what becomes a glitch
I’ve never had this issue in my game (bought the game day one back in the day). It’s obvious it’s not a feature, it’s obvious it’s not supposed to happen. So let’s not act like it was done on purpose, okay? The fact that only a few people talked about it probably means it’s not a common glitch either. Like I know you want to report on these things, but if the sims team knows about it, why report on it?
I mean it's a glitch, it's not deliberate. I'm not unsympathetic to people that have been abused but as someone who has struggled with my mental health my whole life, people need to realise that the world isn't going to bend out of its way so as to not trigger you. Ffs, some people just need to toughen up. Life is fucking hard, people will hurt you. If you start getting upset by things that aren't even intentionally hurtful, you're making life harder for yourself. If it really is traumatic (I accept there'll be a few cases), take a break until its fixed or play another household, or stay in CAS or build/buy for a while. Let's face it, this is one of the smaller problems with ts4, most of us haven't even had it.
First of all, if the child joins the conversation, yes there is a chance if the couple or group is flirty, that they can BY ACCIDENT also be flirty to their children. It is a simple simple mistake made by coding, some team members might have forgotten to code it properly or the computer mistakes the child for the partner or so. Second of all, people should not blame the sims for things that are simple mistakes.
A nanny I hired started feeling flirty while the toddler was babbling to him. The tv was on, but it was playing a comedy show. Still not sure why that was but I fired the dude ☝️😀
this happened in my game like 2 weeks ago and i was appalled and triggered. i deleted the entire relationship between the mom and child right away. i don’t even want to play as families until this shit gets fixed.

3:54 You're right, it can be caused by mods. Especially ones that allow you to modify relationships like UI Cheats Extension and MC Command Center. But the thing is that the creators of these mods don't intend for people to do stuff like...this, with their creations. MCCC actually doesn't allow anyone younger than a teen to even have the option of romantic relationships, but with the way UI Cheats Extension works, all you do is right click and you can input the level of relationship you want your sims to have (both friendly and romantic), and because it works this way, it can't stop creeps from making adult sims have romantic feelings for child and toddler sims. I hope this helps anyone!
"Patched out" is such an important phrase. Its a great reminder to how screwy the BASE game is. It's foundation wasn't built for multiple age groups. So toddlers, teens, and seniors are all PATCHED elements meant to override base game parameters. So they totally could have patched this issue out in 2015 and all it would have taken was another patch that tampers with related coding to take us back the the default without separate age groups. This game will really NEVER be "fixed" because it's base is utterly flawed.
I have never played with mods or downloaded anything into my game. But I remembering seeing this glitch appear between kids and adults when Get To Work came out. I didn’t think anything of it but that it was a glitch. It was a bit disturbing and thought it would get patched (with it did). I started seeing it again when Snowy Escape came out but it’s between toddlers and adults. My current household has this glitch right now even as an adult and her mom having passed away they still have the romantic interest. I wasn’t really disturbed because I’ve seen it years ago but I was really annoyed by it especially with the other glitches my game has like with the Laundry Day stuff pack when they carry the laundry bags
I personally have been having this glitch for a while especially when I first got the game on my console. It only happens to me when two sims in a romantic relationship are also having a conversation with a child. I always make sure that they are not flirting but it’s difficult since they do it autonomously. Sometimes they get invisible romance that you cannot see.
I totally understand how these things can be triggering for people and get why people are upset by these things happening. However, I don't feel like it's acceptable to try and play it off like the Sims team added this in intentionally? It's very clearly a glitch, and it has been addressed before, and it also makes sense that glitches like this could happen when changes and updates are made to the systems that affect these sorts of interactions. It definitely needs to be reported and addressed, but the Sims team clearly didn't just add it in as a "feature".
there's this glitch that comes with snowy escape where the children get flirty from that cupid cupcake in the vending machine and the children's limbs stretch out if they're adults... i hope they fix that... i reported about this months ago when snowy escape was first released.. it was so scary i never played again 😭
Thankfully I've never seen it in my game, but people on Reddit have had it. I've seen their posts. This needs to be fixed and tested for every time they do an update. This should NEVER be possible in an official release! I am a former programmer (database, not games) and my QA department tested every single coding change before it was released. This is standard practice. EA should be doing this at every turn.
The mods weren't the fault of EA or Maxis or anyone affiliated with The Sims. The modders are sick individuals. I really hope people see that both those mods and this glitch (because it IS a glitch, certainly not intentional) are in no way reflecting on the developers and what kind of people they are.
Okay, I've made video games myself. It's a very complicated process with a LOT of code and I have personally experienced patches I've specifically put in to fix certain issues being undone by other things I've put into the game. I've also had things like typos being corrected and then reverted or objects I placed in a room vanishing for no apparent reason. My point is that the smallest things can get screwed up in game development, sometimes completely out of the control of the dev or in ways that are easy to overlook. It's something that happens in game development, and in a game as big as the Sims, I simply cannot be upset with EA for this. There are a lot of issues with EA right now with how they handle game development, but acting like this is intentional or negligent on their part, when it was likely an accidental conflict with a pack or an update, is a bit extreme. If they address it quickly, and it looks like they will, there's really no need to do anything other than warn people of the possibility and wait for the patch. Mistakes happen and I'm sure EA is looking into it. Also the reason for possible delays fixing it could be one of many innocent reasons, such as a patch for the issue conflicting with an update (like sentiments) and them trying to figure out how to work around it or scouring the code in other places to make sure it won't come up again. Obviously this is something that would be hard to find in playtesting since it seems to happen at random (I haven't seen it and many others haven't either), so they'd have to be more thorough. It also could be a patch thorough enough to prevent its resurgence in future updates. If you know anything about game design, you know that sometimes issues that look extreme may be the result of one little line of code going haywire and can be fixed in a second while small things like this are far harder to fix thoroughly since they're rare and are part of a core mechanic.
I had a glitch last week where my sims were talking in a group and one of my sims started flirting with another sim, and her brother got a romance point from it too and I don’t know how to fix it. I’ve never seen this in my game tho
I haven't had this issue, the closest thing I've had has been a few times the pink used for "Flirty" options accidentally showed up on "Playful" options for my dogs, but that fixed itself
The only weird glitch I’ve had in the sims is when I downloaded wicked whims and sometimes when my toddlers aged up to be kids, the kids were always naked. Like they didn’t have actual genitalia but they were like naked barbies. I now don’t have this mod anymore
is anyone else having a bug with mods and gallery after the february 25 update? my mods will not turn on even after i press on the game controls exit out of the game, the whole thing. i took out all of my mods (mccomandcenter, ui cheats, and SOL) also my gallery is screwed up all of the gallery items have red slashes through them and i cant click on it or download the houses etc. does anyone know how to fix these? edit: please help! i really want my game back!

Its a glitch and people are taking it to the extreme that a games character that can have a glitchy interaction with a NRL character and saying it is causing them extreme distress from something that may have happened when they were younger or in one example 'their friend's experience'!. I am also gonna say it, it seems the majority of people of social media were abused as there is an awful lot of triggerings...

Yes it is. But some of those people who's comments he quoted acted like the Sims team personally attacked them. Just tell the Sims team to try to fix this glitch, it wasn't even something common, there was no need to get angry at the team as if they did this on purposes and as if they didn't try to fix it. Because they did fix it, it just came back after many years.
There are many reasons why people could get angry at the Sims team. Like bugs that just never really disappear, or that appear again after a month even tho they said they fixed and the bug just getting worst from there.

From a coder's perspective, Sims toddlers are probably coded similarly to adults, but with certain features turned off. Sentiments probably accidentally over rode the original code as it was a gameplay overhaul system.

the sims community is... annoying... to put it politely. yes, this is a disturbing glitch and hopefully it gets fixed asap, but it's only that, a GLITCH, it's not intentional game design. i understand the outrage toward the gross mod, that was definitely something that required a call out. but now they're just starting unnecessary drama.
personally i've never experienced this glitch, both with tons of mods and without, and i've been playing since Get To Work. it seems pretty rare. i'm sorry to the people who were genuinely triggered by it, but for those who were "triggered" on behalf of someone else... please stop. this glitch doesn't need to be made a huge deal. like they were directed to, they should report it like they would with any other glitch and either move on, or uninstall the game if need be.

I see no legitimate reason someone would be triggered by this, since you can:
1: Use cheats and remove the romance/pink bar by negating it
2: Reload a previous save file?
It's not like this glitch corrupts your game or anything, it's a bug and if anything it's a rare one.

Like it's not the same where gunfire in a game might trigger a war vet or something, it's literally seeing that your sims have pink bars and might kiss each other whatever other action. Most of the people complaining are complaining about the kid sims and assuming you actually saw your kid sim do an action you'd see their model stretched out because they're not as big as the teen, adult or elders.

I understand that seeing something like that can be very upsetting and disgusting, but people need to step back from calling any of this intentional because it certainly was not. Errors happen and can be fixed. If you are in too fragile of a state to be able to get through seeing it in your game by chance, then please seek therapy and uninstall the game.

I think, if just seeing some toddler that doesn't even look real at all flirting with an adult in a game because of a glitch gives you such extreme flashbacks, you shouldn't just go to therapy, you should check yourself in and only come out after the therapy is finished. I saw a glitch that made my young adult female sim have a romantic relationship with her mother, I didn't want to play that household anymore because it was so akward and I didn't know how to fix it without deleting the household, I hope they fix all of it.
Happened to me today mum and young adult daughter had a flirty convo on their own...I literally sent mum home and been ghosting ever since lol

This happened to me yesterday! My adult sims were flirting in the kitchen and the toddler came in to say something to the mom and she wound up getting relationship points. However it fortunately wasn’t enough for a relationship bar to appear.
This is an ACCIDENT and I, like most people have never had this happen. This is NOT worthy of this much negative attention or even a video

honestly i kind of the feel the same way. the way i see it is if you are triggered by this its simple do not play the game until its fixed.(i do think the negative attention is making ea scramble to find a fix fast though)

My game's too modded and I've never had this. I think the mod Mc Command Center removes this bug _(unintentionally)_ since it overrides relationships if you have that module installed. it's one of the most popular mods so I can see why this bug isn't well known.

I would not mind the glitch if it was just patchy getting into some crazy shenanigans and sometimes scare the living hell out of other sims at night at least with that glitch it would add some cartoon comedy and horror to the game but instead it always has to be something gross.
They need to get the romantic conversations fixed! Right now anyone joins automatically and it just doesn't make any sense. and the most important thing, Toddlers shouldn't be able to have a romance bar. Neither do kids. and Family relationships need to be adjusted. last time I played my sim aged up from kid to teen the same day as his cousin, and just because she was flirty they got a romance bar and I hated it . I have mods, but I made sure that none of them affected that. situation. And the bad thing is that even if you want to remove it with mods you can't. Once you get a romance bar with someone even if you don't have any romance progress the bar is still there.

But I also don't like the alien abduction and males getting pregnant from it either. However, with MCCC I can end said pregnancy and some people find it hilarious, so I don't bother with it
i had it once back in the day.. it has to do with issues regarding group conversations.. it annoyed me back when but i was never this tilted over it because even back then i knew it was a glitch

I've seen this glitch a couple years ago the baby sitter would start flirting with my freaking toddler and when I first saw it I was outraged! I didn't understand why it happened but I haven't seen it in a long time.
I've heard of that too. I haven't had it, but I never use the babysitter. I just send the toddler to daycare.

I feel like if they would replace "romantic" with "love" or "fondness" or "affection" it would a) not be gross anymore and b) open up relationships for aromantic players/sims without taking away from existing features.
I get it, but right now only romantic interactions increase the pink bar. Friendly interactions already raise the green one that is for affection/fondness.

I love the Sims 4 because it is so sweet, you can create your own beautiful stories. Reality is cruel enough and yes, I experienced some dark shit as a child, so I never understood others who wanted that. (Who wanted to lose their innocence early grow up to fast and so on) I will never ever understand that. @@libera7161 The best feature of WickedWhims always was their menstruation, pregnancy and attraction (similar to sims2) settings. You can deactivate what you dont want and by now they already have a tame version of this mod without nakedness, etc involved. The attraction system adds more personality traits and more gameplay.

I remember when get togethee came out,i was playing on a save file and once when i opened the relationship panel,i saw that the dad had romatic relationship with his toddler daughter,i was so shocked that i deleted that save file as fast as possible since it triggered some bad memories that one of my relatives experienced in their childhood

Being someone who was sexually assaulted as a kid, yes some things trigger memories, but I know a game is something, to me, that doesn't as it is never how it is in a game VS real life. I know I will get skinned for this, BUT the relationships don't form unless they make them. Scared they fall in love, change your settings so you control the game and their interactions. I play with Mods and I have no issues at all... Maybe, just maybe it is the players not the game. If it was, don't make a big fuss of it, report it... Will you document a crime on social media before going to the cops? If yes, then please go get yourself checked...

I've noticed it if my teen sim has the flirty trait they will flirt with their parents/ siblings and I've just ignored it but never experienced it with toddlers thank god

@@Hannahsx I don't know much about programming, but wouldn't it be simply checking the sim's age, then if they're a toddler/child, check if there's a romantic relationship between them and any sim, and then setting it to zero?
@@DeadFawn not necessarily, no, i mean, it sounds good, but doing that could potentially cause even more issues in the code; if it doesn't read right, for instance, it could end up doing the same for adults you're trying to romance, as well.
It shouldn't, of course, but things like that can happen regardless. A lot of glitches can occur because of code not reading right. Some of it can be written as basic as "if (this), do (this)," and something as small as that could cause a memory leak.
It may seem and sound simple, but with coding, there are about a thousand ways it could go wrong.
If it's an easy fix, they should try that first, but if it keeps cropping up with future updates, then they could do something more complicated like that. It's usually better to go simple first, fixing it probably the same way they did before, as this existed in 2015 and only seems to have come back now.

I get this glitch when I use cheats to adjust the relationship stats between the parents if a parent and child share the same last name and first letter of firstname.
that’s really specific and luckily i don’t have that problem in my game cuz it definitely woulda shown up by now because i name my sims based off of the first letter of their parents name (it’s a really annoying habit i have because with some names it’s almost impossible to find a name that doesn’t sound stupid)
This happened to me and I thought it was because of broken mods. I took everything out of my game because I was so freaked out.
This game is full of glitches. It’s obviously not on purpose, but really shows how EA doesn’t put enough effort into double checking the game is functional. All sorts of stuff is a mess, but they don’t clean it up.
Honestly I had no clue this glitch even existed. However, like everyone is saying, EA didn’t do this on purpose, they may be money hungry, but they’re not pedophiles.

I remember this glitch happening to me all the way back in 2015 when one of the sims in my household had a beginning of a romantic meter with his daughter (child btw this was when toddlers didn’t exist lol)
I think it was a bug with the game trying to keep the “storytelling” going while playing with a different household. Either way 13 year old me was really confused and creeped tf out😭

I had something similar happen with my teen sims. Sister was speaking to her boyfriend, and her brother joined the conversation, and suddenly they were from Alabama. I had no idea how to fix, so I downloaded MCCC which can clean that issue up for you.
A random guy walked into my sims house & started flirting with my toddler 😳 so I had her dad beat him up lol
That glitch ruined the entire family storyline I was playing in. I had a typical family a mom a dad and like three kids 1 child 2 toddlers the mother gained a pink bar with one of her toddlers somehow and the dad saw that their romance bar went down they got angry with eachother i tried using mc command center to get rid of the pink bar but it didn't work. The father and mother hated eachother now! and I had to use another save file i had of the game.
I haven't had this exact glitch, but I did have a child Sim get flirty after eating a pink cupcake out of the Snowy Escape vending machine which I guess gave a flirty effect. I just wanted a pink cupcake :/ I put her to bed right away though so I didn't see if she could get romance from that.
Once my child had a "romanticly relashionship" with the mom bc the parents were flirting while talking to the kid. I realised it was a glitch and deleted the relashionship imediatly. I know it wasn't intended. Never saw it happenn again.
I don’t think people understand that everytime EA updates the game they may fix1-2 glitches but more may happen, that’s just how coding works with games tbh and to say they are doing it on purpose is flat out wrong. I understand seeing this may be uncomfortable but people need to understand glitches happen and they are not being done on purpose! I swear to god everytime a new bug occurs the sims 4 community instantly puts on their tin foil hats and start a conspiracy about it, it’s so tiring tbh.

I mod the shit out of my game so when I saw heart symbols appear over an infants head when a parent interacted with it, I thought it was just something broken because of my mods. Turns out it wasn't. Oof.
While playing with the pack "Snowy Escape", there's a festival of youth happening in it. Once children got blessed from the adults, there's a weird empty double bar (which is friend and romance) along with a blue square icon below the individual (who just blessed the child) in their friends list , I honestly don't know if people have experienced the same issue as mine but I couldn't help but being extremely bothered by this glitch :/
Why are people acting like this was an intentional thing, when immediately after EA found out a mod was created to add these features for real and they warned everyone that anyone who uses those mods, would be banned from having EA accounts?

I've had a similar problem to this for years, ever since I downloaded the Discover University Pack. When I would play with family households and allow a roommate to live with them, often the roommate would get lonely and would start serenading the toddlers, children, and teens of the family. This allowed for the romantic interest bar to exist and increase. I have play tested this several times and have "repaired" the game to see if it would correct itself, but it wouldn't. Because there wasn't a patch or anything to address the glitch, I have stopped using the roommate feature because that is not ok. I had honestly thought I was the only person with that glitch and I'm grateful people are speaking up about this!!

I'm glad that I haven't had this issue..... It would dredge up old wounds for my siblings and me.... That is not okay but I also think that most simmers wouldn't experience this glitch.... I remember having that glitch once in 2019. I ended up murdering my sim’s husband and having her remarry a new sim. I assumed that the EA was just sick and chose to autonomously create a small percentage of pedophiles in the game. Just in case, I’ve never allowed male flirty sims around toddler sims again.

It’s very rare, I think. It only happened to me once, and that was a young adult flirting with my teenager.

I've been playing Sims since 2000, currently have almost 100Gb mods + CC, and I have NEVER encountered this. I think it is a glitch in the coding where the code doesn't read/recognise the ages of the respective characters....like someone already said, patches can wreak havoc on coding and it doesn't seem intentional to me. I am really happy that EA is addressing the issue though, as a lot of people will be aware of this now and waiting with breath held to see when it will be fixed. Good luck to EA's team.

Ok, so toddlers can have a romantic bar? I can see a glitch with teens/adults having relationships because something goes wrong with the age restriction code, but toddlers were added way after sims 4 came out. Like WAY after, two years or something? So why would something you added to the game later be able to have this glitch other than sloppy coding? Toddlers should not have a romantic bar period. I know they are technically 'sims' in code and I guess what they did was re-use the code to make them, but if they had just actually 'created' them and not copy/pasted it to begin with it would not be a problem. It's just really, really sloppy coding. I haven't played sims 4 in years, but this is stupid.

I have had the game for years and it never happened before now. At first, I ignored it because it was just the bar empty so I thought "okay, weird, but no actual relationship building"
Now that the dad and daughter's friendship bar is up the full way, it's adding little bits to the romance bar over time like it would a sim in a romantic relationship. I think it has to do with how often the sim feels flirty when talking to her, but that could be *because* of her (which is...ew)She's a child and the relationship bar is about a tenth of the way full. Cheats work to take it off, but the bar stays and it re-builds. I want to fix it before she becomes a teen because I'm afraid the romantic interactions will unlock 😨🤢🤮
I really hope we can get this fixed, I'm going to go download that save file right now.
Hey! I’ve had this glitch happened to me before and here is some advice: first of all, the daughter becoming a teen WON’T unlock romantic interactions (at least it shouldn’t, as it didn’t happen in my game). However, her becoming a _young adult_ might unlock them (I’m not actually sure).
My advice is that you move the daughter out as soon as she becomes a young adult (or even earlier) as I’ve noted the relationship bars stop constantly going up when sims don’t live together anymore.
I’m sorry this is happening to you and I hope it gets resolved soon! Don’t hesitate to report the glitch to EA! :)
I doubt it will unlock romantic interactions. I had this glitch between siblings, and as adults they had no romantic interactions.

That's super solid advice and you really helped me; I was playing an original story where I'm trying to build a mafia-type family descended from the Alto's, so working their way to basicalky buying the sims-world (or as much of it as they can) and taking over in the name of their family. I can Totally work it in where the mom starts moving around, both deepening the story with a busy, absent father and workaholic mother, and allowing me to drive them to take over the world faster; not only does it solve my problem, it enhances my gameplay and overall experience! Thankfully, I've never had this bug. And even when I installed a certain mod, I made sure that the adults would not perform any sexual interactions if any children or toddlers were present, because, just, ew. I remember in I think Sims 3, sometimes children would walk in on their parents "woohooing", and applaud and cheer. That was unwelcome as well and eventually fixed.
i agree with some people about the gross mods that were made, it is just a game and does not reflect real life, that's the whole point. but we can't just let things like this go, especially when this can be used to fabricate and distribute CSAM.
No one is letting it go. But i do think people are acting as if EA did this intentionally. Like no, its a glitch. It can be triggering for people and EA has to fix it, but people also need to stop hating for EA for "making" this happen, as errors and glitches occur in a game. Also, this is a completely different subject as opposed to the pedophelia mod, as that mod was made intentional with the purpose of making these kinds of relationships possible, whilst this glitch is just am error

Psilocybe Cubensis but they did fix it, it just seems to have reappeard. Its a bug or a glitch, not something they can prevent from happening.

Coding problems
The sims is quite complex and even small addtions might break things. One situation where this can potentially happen is if say the two parents are in a flirty convo with each other and the child joins in at the wrong time.
I remember installing custom traits, one of them was called "sensual" or something like that, and available for young adults-elders only; a sensual sim could put other sims in the room in the flirty mood. BUT children and toddlers would become flirty too. How does the game allow children/toddlers to experience the flirty mood? I was so freaking confuse.
Yeah it probably became unpatched after the update that helped WickedWhims disable NSFW with children and toddlers.
I’m not a fan of the sims team lately but why are people acting like they purposely did this? Yes it’s still gross and disturbing but it’s a GLITCH, you can’t decide what becomes a glitch

I am so disturbed when adult sims are flirty with children. This has happened in my game.
I mean it's a glitch, it's not deliberate. I'm not unsympathetic to people that have been abused but as someone who has struggled with my mental health my whole life, people need to realise that the world isn't going to bend out of its way so as to not trigger you. Ffs, some people just need to toughen up. Life is fucking hard, people will hurt you. If you start getting upset by things that aren't even intentionally hurtful, you're making life harder for yourself. If it really is traumatic (I accept there'll be a few cases), take a break until its fixed or play another household, or stay in CAS or build/buy for a while. Let's face it, this is one of the smaller problems with ts4, most of us haven't even had it.
First of all, if the child joins the conversation, yes there is a chance if the couple or group is flirty, that they can BY ACCIDENT also be flirty to their children.
It is a simple simple mistake made by coding, some team members might have forgotten to code it properly or the computer mistakes the child for the partner or so.
Second of all, people should not blame the sims for things that are simple mistakes.
A nanny I hired started feeling flirty while the toddler was babbling to him. The tv was on, but it was playing a comedy show. Still not sure why that was but I fired the dude ☝️😀

3:54 You're right, it can be caused by mods. Especially ones that allow you to modify relationships like UI Cheats Extension and MC Command Center. But the thing is that the creators of these mods don't intend for people to do stuff like...this, with their creations. MCCC actually doesn't allow anyone younger than a teen to even have the option of romantic relationships, but with the way UI Cheats Extension works, all you do is right click and you can input the level of relationship you want your sims to have (both friendly and romantic), and because it works this way, it can't stop creeps from making adult sims have romantic feelings for child and toddler sims. I hope this helps anyone!
"Patched out" is such an important phrase. Its a great reminder to how screwy the BASE game is. It's foundation wasn't built for multiple age groups. So toddlers, teens, and seniors are all PATCHED elements meant to override base game parameters. So they totally could have patched this issue out in 2015 and all it would have taken was another patch that tampers with related coding to take us back the the default without separate age groups. This game will really NEVER be "fixed" because it's base is utterly flawed.

I have never played with mods or downloaded anything into my game. But I remembering seeing this glitch appear between kids and adults when Get To Work came out. I didn’t think anything of it but that it was a glitch. It was a bit disturbing and thought it would get patched (with it did). I started seeing it again when Snowy Escape came out but it’s between toddlers and adults.
My current household has this glitch right now even as an adult and her mom having passed away they still have the romantic interest. I wasn’t really disturbed because I’ve seen it years ago but I was really annoyed by it especially with the other glitches my game has like with the Laundry Day stuff pack when they carry the laundry bags
Yes, I have recently. But I immediately used the UI Cheat and fix it.
I personally have been having this glitch for a while especially when I first got the game on my console. It only happens to me when two sims in a romantic relationship are also having a conversation with a child. I always make sure that they are not flirting but it’s difficult since they do it autonomously. Sometimes they get invisible romance that you cannot see.
I totally understand how these things can be triggering for people and get why people are upset by these things happening. However, I don't feel like it's acceptable to try and play it off like the Sims team added this in intentionally? It's very clearly a glitch, and it has been addressed before, and it also makes sense that glitches like this could happen when changes and updates are made to the systems that affect these sorts of interactions. It definitely needs to be reported and addressed, but the Sims team clearly didn't just add it in as a "feature".

Thankfully I've never seen it in my game, but people on Reddit have had it. I've seen their posts. This needs to be fixed and tested for every time they do an update. This should NEVER be possible in an official release! I am a former programmer (database, not games) and my QA department tested every single coding change before it was released. This is standard practice. EA should be doing this at every turn.

The mods weren't the fault of EA or Maxis or anyone affiliated with The Sims. The modders are sick individuals. I really hope people see that both those mods and this glitch (because it IS a glitch, certainly not intentional) are in no way reflecting on the developers and what kind of people they are.
Okay, I've made video games myself. It's a very complicated process with a LOT of code and I have personally experienced patches I've specifically put in to fix certain issues being undone by other things I've put into the game. I've also had things like typos being corrected and then reverted or objects I placed in a room vanishing for no apparent reason. My point is that the smallest things can get screwed up in game development, sometimes completely out of the control of the dev or in ways that are easy to overlook. It's something that happens in game development, and in a game as big as the Sims, I simply cannot be upset with EA for this. There are a lot of issues with EA right now with how they handle game development, but acting like this is intentional or negligent on their part, when it was likely an accidental conflict with a pack or an update, is a bit extreme. If they address it quickly, and it looks like they will, there's really no need to do anything other than warn people of the possibility and wait for the patch. Mistakes happen and I'm sure EA is looking into it.
Also the reason for possible delays fixing it could be one of many innocent reasons, such as a patch for the issue conflicting with an update (like sentiments) and them trying to figure out how to work around it or scouring the code in other places to make sure it won't come up again. Obviously this is something that would be hard to find in playtesting since it seems to happen at random (I haven't seen it and many others haven't either), so they'd have to be more thorough. It also could be a patch thorough enough to prevent its resurgence in future updates. If you know anything about game design, you know that sometimes issues that look extreme may be the result of one little line of code going haywire and can be fixed in a second while small things like this are far harder to fix thoroughly since they're rare and are part of a core mechanic.

I haven't had this issue, the closest thing I've had has been a few times the pink used for "Flirty" options accidentally showed up on "Playful" options for my dogs, but that fixed itself

The only weird glitch I’ve had in the sims is when I downloaded wicked whims and sometimes when my toddlers aged up to be kids, the kids were always naked. Like they didn’t have actual genitalia but they were like naked barbies. I now don’t have this mod anymore

is anyone else having a bug with mods and gallery after the february 25 update? my mods will not turn on even after i press on the game controls exit out of the game, the whole thing. i took out all of my mods (mccomandcenter, ui cheats, and SOL) also my gallery is screwed up all of the gallery items have red slashes through them and i cant click on it or download the houses etc. does anyone know how to fix these?

Its a glitch and people are taking it to the extreme that a games character that can have a glitchy interaction with a NRL character and saying it is causing them extreme distress from something that may have happened when they were younger or in one example 'their friend's experience'!. I am also gonna say it, it seems the majority of people of social media were abused as there is an awful lot of triggerings...
