I loved the way you explained Britta's work. The work was breathtaking and added to that, your explanation was simply beautiful. I could feel the pain of the Sami people when you said that they were made to feel ashamed of their culture because they were considered backward in need of being civilized by the government. This has happened in all colonized countries and it still happens around the world with countries being referred to as first world, third world etc.
I'm happy you enjoyed the trip to the art museum! Regarding the topic of oppression- As you say, similar things have happened and is still happening (sadly) in many countries. It is heartbreaking, especially when it comes to peoples who have long traditions of respecting and co-existing with nature. It is so sad when this knowledge dies out. I'm happy art is a space where I can expand my horizons about the world, and then share it on my channel.
all that you share with us on your channel is a gift, but that artwork from the museum today was... I don't know what word to use... phenomenal, mesmerizing, moving, enchanting. Thank you so much.
Another wonderful vlog. As I watch your videos I use my 60 year old body and brain and wonder how many times I’d slip and slide on some of the more hilly streets, no matter the weather. 😊. Lately the older I get the more clumsy I become. Anyway, the artwork you showed was amazing and very thought provoking. I love to quilt and do needlework and appreciate how the direction of the stitches and type of stitches can show flow, direction, movement and even emotion. Thank you for taking us along on your walk and showing us this artwork.
Happy you enjoyed the walk and the artwork in this week's vlog! The hilly streets here can be tricky to navigate in winter when it's slippery- even for young people.
Thanks for sharing this amazing artist! I think that true artists are the ones who not only dominate a techique but are also capable of saying something trough their work and get to the audience, touching them somehow. ❤
My partner and I watch each of your vlogs (both of us introverts 😊) We notice different things - “Oh, look at the climbing rose!” “Hey, did you notice the apple tree?” “There’s another one nearby - see?” I can’t overstate just how uplifting your vlogs are. We both appreciate the scenes you share, the places you venture, and the glimpses of Denmark we see. Thank you ❤
That's wonderful, I love that you are watching together, and that you are both introverts. Nice to connect with you! Love from Norway (and not Denmark) ❤️💓😄
Hello, again! Thank's for showing such a beautiful Oslo neighborhood. Thank's also for the visit to Britta Marakatt-Labba's , Mooving the needle exhibition! So beautiful and so touching! Have a nice day.
Thank you so much for taking us to see Britta Marakatt-Labba’s art work. Such moving and beautiful pieces. I got emotional in the circular room, my heart hurts for the indigenous people who were mistreated and taught to be ashamed of their culture. We should be learning about others cultures not destroying it. That’s why I appreciate you and your videos so much, you are documenting your culture and sharing it with us. You are recording the present but one day it will be history and I am so grateful to be along for the ride.
@ashleigh_whatever You put it so well. We should be learning about other cultures, not destroying them. Unfortunately so many indigenous peoples around the world has experiences like the Sami people. What saddens me the most is that we could all learn so much especially about their relationship with nature. The Sami have a philosophy of only taking what they need from nature. I love this way of thinking. Anyway- I hope the future is better than the past. I find art is a great way to raise awareness.
Sucha pleasure to watch your videos. Princess Mochi just lights up our Saturdays! 🥺🐾 And Britta’s works, I’m out of words to describe their beauty and storytelling prowess. 🫶🏻 Lots of love and hugs to you all and cuddles to Princess Mochi. Warmest wishes. ✨
Exploring other places by going to residential areas is such a great activity! I like how you spot the interesting in the ordinary. It’s a great antidote to the intense frenzy of the media (regular and social) and generally all the impulses in today’s world. Tusen takk for the video!
I love Mr. and Mrs. Mouse tucked in their cigar box bed, which reminded me of Stuart Little's match-box bed. Miss Mochi is named after one of my favorite treats (I love Green Tea Mochi especially!). As you and Mochi went on your Sunday walk, I too enjoyed the colorful buildings, which have a lot of character. It's refreshing that Oslo, Bergen, etc. don't have glass and steel skyscrapers dominating the landscape as well as obscuring the view. They provided a nice contrast to the more modern buildings on your neighborhood walk. I also loved Britta Marakatt-Labba's exquisitely hand-embroidered depictions of the daily Sami life. The oppression of the Sami culture reminded me of how we Americans did the same thing in our country, which was a shameful, tragic part of our history. I would love to view Britta's artwork in person and wonder if she'd be able to exhibit at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle, WA? Thanks for sharing! Jenny, Seattle, WA, USA
Greetings from Oslo to Seattle! Thanks for your kind comment! Happy to hear you enjoyed the video. Hopefully the artist Britta Marakatt-Labba will one day exhibit at the museum you mention. It is amazing to see her work in real life, I do hope you get the chance one day! 😄
Thank you for this glimpse of Britta's art depicting Sami history. Beautifully narrated with your thoughts ☺ Every culture in the world has similar stories. We need such art and stories to learn the ignorances of the past. Thoroughly enjoyed your walks this week.
Happy enjoyed the walk and the art! You are right, sadly many cultures in the world have similar stories. I do wish humans were better at learning from past mistakes. ❤️
Dear Mochi I always feel hapiness when I see her no matter she's walking, smelling something or cuddling on your lap. Oslo is really beautiful, you must be proud of your city. I was amazed with Britta's work such a singular linen canvas embroidered with a true story. But my highlight in this beautiful episode goes all to that nice couple - maybe chatting about the new decor in the bedroom - accommodated in a Havana cigar's box. I' m sure they will watch your sleep. Love from Portugal, the usual gang
Dear friend in Portugal, happy to hear you enjoy watching Mochi and not to mention Mr and Mrs Mouse! I think they like their new place next to my bed. They can keep an eye on me when I sleep ❤️
Yes we do appreciate your non tourist guide to Oslo. Dog walkers have a great excuse to explore their local backstreets and find some hidden gems. You have alot to thank Miss Mochi for, but you knew that anyway I think x
Good Morning, Mr. I., Mr. J and Princess Mochi! So nice to have you back! Oslo is wonderful, I wish to visit your country one day! Here, in Slovakia it´s still very hot (35 degrees C), please stay hydrated! I like your decoration tase a lot, Mr. I. Thank you for this calming, wonderful video, have a wonderful weekend, much love for Mochi! XX P.S. the embroidery exhibition was beautiful!
Hello- your beautiful comment moved me so much. I'm happy my videos bring you joy! I also hope the horrible war in Ukraine will end soon. Love from Oslo ❤️
Hiya Mochi, I'm binging Mr. I 's vlog/s 😊. The box of cigars is so sweet 💕. Spectacular work of Britta Margaretta Marakatt-Labba. Sublime! I'm just blown away. The detail is splendid. Her art and the background music makes a powerful combination. Thanks again for the trip to the museum 💫
So happy you are enjoying my videos! Love that you like the art work too- I was actually worried that it would be a little boring, and considered leaving it out of the video, so your comment makes me smile! 😄
nothing more relaxing than the sound of Mochi's nails tippy-tapping on the pavement. Also loooooved your exploration of the art exhibit, for explaining it so well, and for doing all of these amazing pans and closeups for those of us who cannot go see it ourselves. And thank you for introducing me to a new artist. I want to know more about Britta Marakatt-Labba's work.
So happy you enjoyed the art. At first I didn't know if I should include it, because I was afraid it would be a little boring maybe. So your feedback makes me happy! Oh and if you are curious about Britta Marakatt-Labba, you may want to check out this nice video- it is from the National museum. I didn't know about it before one of my viewers told me! th-cam.com/video/I8puzM6V2Zc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=I0xbDIByB--WoJnp
I am deeply grateful to you, without you I would never have known Britta and her wonderful works, I am enchanted! Your videos always give me precious moments and on Saturday mornings I can no longer do without them! One of your followers from Italy❤🇮🇹
I'm honored to be part of your Saturday morning routine in Italy! It makes me feel that the world is small. And friendly! And I'm so glad you enjoyed Britta's art. I was hoping it wouldn't be boring. Love from Oslo ❤️
I love this video. Firat of all the art of Britta. I had never heard about her and thank you very much for introducing her to us. I would like to see more videos walks around Oslo or anywhere in Norway. I like Scandinavian culture and everything that has to do with it looks exotic for me.
Thanks for sharing your city. I find walking through residential parts of a city or town rewarding. The ordinary helps to connect. There is something about the buildings in Norway ( their colours, the wooden structure on top of stone and their closeness to the pavement) which I find very interesting. One instantly knows that you are in Norway. Solid, reliable and a community not just a collection of houses.
Happy you enjoy my walks in Oslo. It's nice to read comments like yours- it makes me see my own city with new eyes. For instance I never thought about the houses here being different from other parts of the world.
I so appreciated your sharing the work of Britta Marakatt-Labba. It is wonderful! Living in California, I don't think I would have otherwise found her work. I found another YT about her life and work at the National Museum of Norway website. Such beautiful handwork and brilliant sotrytelling. Mochi is her adorable self. And bravo on our mini glow up of your bedroom. I LOVED "Like Cutting for Stone" and look forward to reading his new book The Covenant of Water.
Happy to hear you enjoyed the art of Britta Marakatt-Labba! I actually didn't know there was a video of her and her art on the National museum website- Thanks for the tip! I found the clip and I'm looking forward to watching it! Also, I'm putting "Like cutting for stone" on my reading list!
I love your videos! Mostly because I have fallen in love with Mochi and these wonderful glimpses into your lives. But also because I am an introvert. These walks of yours and Mochi’s that you take us along on evoke such peace, I cannot over-emphasize it! Keep doing exactly what you’re doing. With love, admiration and respect from Florida, USA ❤ ( I first accidentally posted this comment on another wonderful viewer comment - but I wanted to re-post it separately) 😊
I had been wondering how Mr & Mrs. Mouse have been doing! So happy to see them enjoying their new abode. I can relax now 😂 🐭 Much love to you, J and Mochi from Trinidad! 🇹🇹
I love that you are watching from Trinidad! (Maybe my first and only?) viewer from there. How lovely! And yes, Mr and Mrs Mouse seem to be very happy in their new location! Big hug from Oslo❤️🐶💫
Amazing embroidery art, thank you so much for taking us to the exhibition 😍 my hobbie is drawing so to see other artists works inspires me a lot! And I completely agree with you about visiting the areas where we can truly feel the experience how locals live, otherwise we only see the touristic points where every one goes that with the passing of the years become areas made for the tourists! The little house green and pink is super cute, green and pink always "work" well together and is pleasing for the eyes because green and red are complementary colours 😉 and pink is like a 'cousin' of red 💚💗 Happy weekend to you, Mr.J and Mochi!
Happy to hear you were inspired by the art! I love seeing something that speaks to me in a museum or gallery. It can give me new, creative thoughts. Sadly I don't know how to draw, I am always so impressed with people with this talent. You are lucky! And now I got the explanation of why pink and green always look so good together. Thank you ❤️
@@introvert-and-dog everyone can draw, it's a skill like as other else, needs practice and let go of expectations, no one will draw like masters from day to night and most probably will never get that stage 😄 it's about having fun! Yes, some people have a natural talent to draw (I certainly don't have) but humans have a powerful thing that is we can learn and get better if we dare to try and keep doing something we love 🥰
Thank you for your nice comment- I really appreciate it. It encourages me to keep making videos. I love sharing these things with kind strangers like you around the world ❤️
Thank you so much- as usual a stunning video with sweet doggo Mochi❤ and also a lovely introduction for me to a whole new culture of the Sami. Grateful to have learned about their history❤ Wishing you all a beautiful weekend ❤ Hugs from NYC
Happy you enjoyed this week's video and the little introduction to the Sami culture through the art work. As always, sending you love from Oslo to NYC ❤️
Saluti
Beautiful and moving artwork by Britta 🧡 I love seeing handicrafts represented in the art world. Two of my great great grandmothers were Sami, one of which had a sister who walked across the border to Norway, and somehow ended up at the women’s prison “spinnhus” in Oslo. I thought about that when you walked around the old hospital, buildings she might have walked past, since it was late 19th century. She eventually went back to Sweden where she became known to the locals for her colorful Sami weaving. So a lot of connections to today’s video for me. Thank you for sharing 🙏
Thank you for sharing the story of your relatives, and your Sami roots. I have never heard about "spinnhus", but I looked it up now. So interesting. (I love reading about history.) And how very fascinating to think about one of your relatives may have walked some of the same streets as I do in my videos- only many, many years earlier.
I love your way of traveling. It's nice to see how locals live, right? That is my favorite part of going to another city or country. And I realize as you write, that most people around the world are very similar. ❤️
I find people that are very quiet to be all observant and deep. You think they are shy, and when they open up to express themselves, they leave you in awe! They are just taking in more than the rest. I applaud you, amazing vlog!
You and Mochi always take us on the most scenic walks. I love the colorful exterior paint on the buildings, and the wall hanging looks more at home in its new location. In all, another fun and interesting vlog! 🙂🪡🐶 🪴🐁🏠
Another simple, beautiful vlog. I was eagerly waiting for it 😊 Britta’s work was so simple, deep and powerful. Thanks for explaining it to us. Looking forward to your next vlogg 😊😊😊
Hi! If you come to,central Italy you will find that most buildings are painted in warm colors, like yellow, ocre, rust, orange or dark red. The white or grey ones are rarely seen here. But if you move south the clear ones become more and more frequent to the point where you see almost completely white towns (specially historical villages). I like Oslo’s color combination, looks more fun and vivid without turning messy. 😊
Thank you for your nice comment! I think it is great that a kind stranger in Brazil is watching and appreciate my videos! Love from Oslo to São Paulo ❤️
I don't know why but I always greet Mochi the moment she's on screen, as if she can hear me. 😅 We bookworms always need more space for books. 😅 Mr. & Mrs. Mouse look so happy!😃 The colourful buildings so brighten up the space. And the house with an adult cycle and a children's cycle was so sweet!🥰 Thank you, Mochipop, for the museum tour! It was beautiful to learn more about the history of the Sámi people.💖
I love that you greet Mochi when she appears on the screen! Haha, yes, I think that is the perfect space for the cute mouse couple. We can keep an eye on each other now, and make sure we all sleep safely ❤️
I love these kind of videos..I'm traveling through Oslo with your eyes. I thank you so much for taking us with you around these no touristic beautiful streets. This is real life. The art museum...I thank you again. Great artist showing her origins for us. Lovely.
Thanks Mr. I for inviting us to live this beautiful experience through Britta's work of art, who talentedly and in a circular way tell us the history of her people. It feels magical just as your channel is, because we already know that there is no magic in magic, it is all in the details and your work is full of little but big details that make it magical. Chemistry, is something that cannot be built or even explained, it simply exists or not and it can also occur between the audience and a content/memories creator like you Mr I. That's why I say that exists chemistry between us. See you soon. Btw: From the author of the book you put on the bedside table Abraham Verghese I read "Cutting for Stone" Have you read it?
@lilianadoval8927 You are so eloquent- thank you for your beautiful comment, I am savoring every word! You are right: Magic is in the details. I haven't read the book that you mention by Abraham Verghese. Do you recommend it?
@@introvert-and-dog Absolutely I highly recommend. All the lights and shadows of human beings in an exquisite story so well written. But as it is said "it is all in the eye of the beholder", that is, we may not agree. Hugs Mr.I.
Good morning love the little stool for your plant nice touch and the way you arrange your room love looking at the colourful houses on your walk Mochi is so adorable watches your every move thanks again ❤️🐶
Your vlogs always make me feel calm, relaxed, and incredibly inspired🤍 Thank you so much for introducing me to such a beautiful artist like Britta Marakatt-Labba. I had never seen her work before today, but now I can say with certainty that her art has captured my heart. I hope I will have the chance to see her work in person someday. I have never seen such an extraordinary presentation of the history of a people, their experiences, religion, and everyday life. It’s unbelievable!🥰 Mochi saw off Mr. J so sweetly and calmly! 😍That’s really great. For us, leaving the house without Chester is a real quest😅 Chester tries every possible way to sneak out and come with us, even if one of us stays home. Sometimes he even manages to get into the elevator first! In those situations, we just laugh, and I carry Chester back home, giving him an extra treat as compensation🤣 Thank you for your beautiful vlogs. Through your videos, you perfectly convey the atmosphere of the places you visit, enhancing the viewer’s immersion. It’s as if we’re right there with you and Mochi☺ Wishing you a wonderful week🤗 With love, Kristy and Chester🤍🤍
I love to hear about Chester's personality, so thanks for sharing! I can totally see him sneak out to come with you guys! 😂 How funny and sweet. Does he have a favorite, or does he like you equally? We never trained Mochi to be calm when we leave, we were just very lucky with her personality. When we leave, she just looks at us and accepts it immediately. In the beginning we were worried that she might bark when we left, so we installed a webcam. But when we looked at the camera, she is just sleeping all the time we are gone. I would feel sooo bad if she was anxious and barked. Now I can relax. Happy to hear you enjoyed the art. And I hope you get the chance to see it in real life one day. It is very special! Love from Oslo to the three of you❤️
@@introvert-and-dog I think Chester spends more time with me and gives me more love than my husband does. This is surprising because, during the first two weeks, Chester lived with Alex while I was working in another city and couldn’t take care of his upbringing. However, when I returned, Chester immediately seemed to love me more. Does Mochi have a favorite? ☺
I love it when you take us through neighborhoods in your city. The colourful houses are so pretty. I think you finally found the perfect place for the wall hanging!😊 Hoping that you, Mr. J, and sweet Mochi are having a peaceful weekend. ❤
Dear Introvert, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your experience of seeing Britta Marakatt - Labba's works at the National Museum in Oslo. Like a true art lover you looked up close and showed us details that create the whole. To me those details are a Perfection and at the same time, they are simple and powerful, as you have observed. I also wanted to share that there is a past-present-future component in every moment. They arise simultaneously. Great art like this awakens that knowledge inside of us. I feel fortunate to be able to watch your videos. Love and blessings to you, dear Introvert, and your beautiful family!
I really appreciate your comment. It made me so happy that I included the clips from the museum in this weeks vlog. (I was a bit worried it would be a little boring). I can feel your kindness through your words. Sending you light from Oslo ❤️
I really really enjoyed the walk and even the exhibition! I know so little of the Sami, only that their history has a sad and dark chapter, but that their customs and traditions are very beautiful. Your explanations were very welcome. As an aside, I had no idea there was an Ethiopian community large enough to warrant a (decently large!) church in Norway of all places! That's so incredible. (My father is from Ethiopia but I was born in Canada. As a child, for traditional celebrations that fell in the winter, I'd have to wear a huge coat and snowpants over my traditional dress! I imagine it's similar for Ethiopian Norwegians :))
Thanks for sharing your story. The scenario you describe where you wear bulky winter clothes over your traditional clothes- I am sure that happens here too! The day I was filming a group of nicely dressed people were headed to that church. I'm certain they will be wrapped up in all kinds of warm clothes come winter 😄
Thank you for taking us to the National Museum to see Britta Marakatt-Labba’s tapestry about the Sami people. I found to be beautiful and very moving, and thought provoking, “The Circle of Life”. I did enjoy the walk with Moochi, I did like the brightly painted houses, I always do. That hospital was built before the British “discovered” Australia 🇦🇺. If one is lucky enough to meet the locals in their own habitat, when visiting a foreign country, one is very lucky indeed. I hope that the 3 of you have a great week. Warmest regards, Judy 🇦🇺🇳🇴❤️
Dare I say it AGAIN?? This one is the best video yet! I mean, from start to finish I was so captivated with the sights you laid out for us like gifts. And the star, that little Princess Mochi, was super cute and put me to shame once again with her energetic trotting. Love from Long Island! xoxo
Dobro jutro.
I think many cultures around the world, like the Sami culture has a wonderful relationship with nature where they respect it. It is a shame that these kind of cultures and traditions are dying out more and more. Anyway, I am very happy to hear you are sharing my videos with your husband! Sending love from Oslo to you in Sarajevo ❤️
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment written with love. I'm happy that you liked the walk in the ordinary residential street and the art of Britta Marakatt-Labba. I was amazed when I saw it, and wanted to share it. Your words make me extra grateful to have this small channel where I can connect with people around the world, and spread some light. ❤️
I also love to see residential areas wherever I go on holidays, it's the best way to really know the place and its people. Thank you for sharing a bit about Sámi, I found it very interesting! 🥰

Exploring other places by going to residential areas is such a great activity! I like how you spot the interesting in the ordinary. It’s a great antidote to the intense frenzy of the media (regular and social) and generally all the impulses in today’s world. Tusen takk for the video!
Aw- Tusen takk! ❤️
I agree with you, the artwork is very special. I'm happy to be able to share it.
Love from Oslo ❤️🐶
I love Mr.
@@introvert-and-dog Thanks, me too!
Oh yes, that's true, walking Miss Mochi is always a great excuse to explore the city 😄
That beautiful needlepoint artwork from the museum was beautiful! Also historical. Love your walks with Mochi.❤
Glad you enjoyed the artwork and the walks with little Mochi ❤️🐶

Spectacular work of Britta Margaretta Marakatt-Labba. Sublime! I'm just blown away. The detail is splendid. Her art and the background music makes a powerful combination. Thanks again for the trip to the museum 💫

nothing more relaxing than the sound of Mochi's nails tippy-tapping on the pavement.

I love your scenic walks - so relaxing and always enhanced by the presence of Miss Mochi! Thank you for sharing such peace and tranquility. 🦋
Glad you enjoy the walks ❤️
Health inspector 😂... so good.
Have a lovely Sunday!
All the best🤗🍀🥰.
Mochi needs to check everything...just to make sure it's safe! 😂😂😂
Britta’s work is stunning. Thank you for sharing.
Happy you like it ❤️

@@introvert-and-dog yes I love history and walking around old parts of cities, it makes me feel so grounded somehow.

Your comment made my day. Thank you!! ❤️

Glad you enjoyed it! Love from Oslo ❤️
The colors of the building in Italy sound very nice! 🤩

Thank you so much! We wish you a nice and peaceful weekend ❤️🐶💫

Thank you so much for introducing me to such a beautiful artist like Britta Marakatt-Labba. I had never seen her work before today, but now I can say with certainty that her art has captured my heart. I hope I will have the chance to see her work in person someday. I have never seen such an extraordinary presentation of the history of a people, their experiences, religion, and everyday life. It’s unbelievable!🥰
Mochi saw off Mr. J so sweetly and calmly! 😍That’s really great. For us, leaving the house without Chester is a real quest😅 Chester tries every possible way to sneak out and come with us, even if one of us stays home. Sometimes he even manages to get into the elevator first! In those situations, we just laugh, and I carry Chester back home, giving him an extra treat as compensation🤣
Thank you for your beautiful vlogs. Through your videos, you perfectly convey the atmosphere of the places you visit, enhancing the viewer’s immersion. It’s as if we’re right there with you and Mochi☺
Wishing you a wonderful week🤗 With love, Kristy and Chester🤍🤍
The artwork is so beautiful! All these little details, it's amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like it! ❤️
