      dude - same. I came down to NYC - had a semi connect with Rock hotel from MTL hardcore scene, and - boom Felt Forum, Danzig - then Slayer takes it from sinister to chaos in 40 minutes or so - dipped into some side exit through hockey dressing rooms and eventually back up to street level and horses and NYPD and such - back to Scrap Bar in quiet St. Marks for me! Wot a Nite!!

    This was my first Slayer concert. A few yrs back I was browsing a record store and saw a Slayer DVD called "SEAT CUSHION INCIDENT" and was like HOLY FUCK< MY FIRST SLAYER SHOW!!! I bought it immediately and when I watched it just brought me back to that scary but exhilarating night in an instant. (At the show AS SOON as Slayer started I lost ALL of my friends (it was like 10 of us at least) I was thrown around like a rag doll and then I had to move away from the crowd as I was being smushed , i couldnt breathe. . I stood on a gate thingy behind the sound stage so i could see and got hit every few mins with seat cushions. It was fucking scary but probably one of the best shows I have ever been to. Obviously, since I STILL remember it.

    The best part of this show was Danzig; not because of Danzig as a band but because they played mostly Misfits and Sam Hain songs. It was a complete surprise to all of us that Dazing was there at all since it wasn't announced until a few days before the show and it wasn't like it is today where there's an information flood about every fu%$ing thing. When my friend and I heard Where Eagles Dare playing we assumed it was on the P.A. but we walked in and freaked out. There was hardly anyone in the entire Felt Forum and even most of our friends missed Danzig as we were just so psyched that we didn't even think to go out and tell them. Wish there was a bootleg of the Danzig portion of the show. I've had this on VHS for years!

    The intensity of the band and crowd was astounding. I saw them first time in early '91 at Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. As soon as Dave came out and started the Raining Blood intro the crowd started pulling the metal chairs apart to create a pit. The sound of metal clanging was as loud as the music. As a skinny teenage kid I was scared to death but also so excited to be seeing Slayer.

    Snuck out with friends to see this show. 16 years old. Bus and train from Queens. The whole area around Madison Square garden was buzzing with metal heads smoking up and drinking forties. The anticipation for this show was through the roof. I’d seen AC/DC and Judas Priest . But Slayer were a monster at this point. Danzig was cool and I bought their first record right after this show. As far as the NYC crowd at that time it was much more violent and that venue was not designed for a wild slamming drunk Slayer crowd. It was mayhem. I think a few kids were hurt badly or killed up front. I sat upstairs and the cushions were flying all night. If the show had been stopped there would have been a riot. Unforgettable experience. This shit opened my young eyes to other more extreme metal. RIP Jeff.

  • @mojorisin7371
    @mojorisin7371 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Slayer was so brutal and unmatched then. Every venue they played practically got destroyed cause the music was so fresh and evil and people back then with little to no rules and the aftermath of the 70's especially in cities like NY its a surprise there were no murders or real crime. Just mostly vandalism and drunken fights. Saw Slayer numerous times in small urinal clubs like Lupo's and the old living room in Providence RI. No band can stir up a crowd like Slayer and every honest Metal fan and musician that's seen Slayer live know it especially in their prime.

    I saw these guys a few weeks earlier at The Stone in San Francisco CA, a club which is no longer there. I am glad for these guys and the career that they have had and I hate to say it but after Seasons In The Abyss it wasn't the same, not bad but just not the same and the crowd is my mane point. These guys use to play in San Francisco it seemed like once every 4 months before Hell Awaits came out and even when they came around in 85 opening up for Venom the amount of kids at school the next day wearing Slayer shirts was amazing to see. The shows were always amazing and even when Reign In Blood came out the amount of skinhead punks that were at the show was something I had never seen a metal band do like they did, loved my youth.

    Great show! The band was at their peak. Tom's voice is perfect, Jeff and Kerry play tight as fuck and Lombardo is a beast.
    As much as i enjoy a fun mosh pit, I don't understand people here who finds hilarious that the place was ripped apart and that the people got so violent (cutting people with razorblades WTF)

    Me too. I think it was for two nights. But all I remember is it was sick but everyone was ripping the cushions off of the seats and throwing them and Araya was getting pissed. Actually it must have been the last night - Araya yelled that because of us they cannot play the felt forum again and told everyonecto go F themselves....in the end as they walked odd stage.
