Amy Grant has 6 Grammys, 22 Gospel Dove awards, and is married to a man with few Grammys himself, Vince Gill, who has 22 Grammys. Lots of shiny things to look at in their household. Two of the nicest people on the face of the Earth too.
I've never had the pleasure of meeting Vince Gill, but I met Amy several times in the late 80s and early 90s. A good friend worked for a local concert promoter and she always got me a quick meet-and-greet with Amy after every concert I attended. Sweetheart is the only word that describes my opinion of her. She was always so warm and kind to fans....a truly special human being! Nobody sounds quite like her, either.
They seem genuinely nice. That's probably why so many people were so disappointed when they cheated on their spouses and left them to marry each other. It was quite a fall from grace for each of them and neither got their careers back on track afterward.
@@sivonni There is zero evidence that they ever cheated on their first spouses. Amy learned about Vince's divorce from reading the newspapers. Tabloids made allegations without proof and some holier than thous tried to tear down Amy with false claims because of her position as the top Christian music singer and that she chose to divorce. Both have denied any claims that they were involved prior to their divorces and I for one believe them.

Interesting fact... they each had one #1 hit for two weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 as solo artists, and this duet #1, "The Next time I Fall", in September 1986. Peter Cetera had the #1, "Glory of Love" from the Karate Kid II in June 1986. Amy Grant had the #1 "Baby, Baby" in February 1991.

Amy Grant was the queen of Christian pop in the 80 s and early 90s. She was the most successful Christian artist to crossover into pop music with the album, Heart in motion
When she cheated on her husband and then did the divorce and remarriage thing I took her CD *Heart In Motion* off of the Christian shelf and put it with my secular collection and at the same time moved the CD *Twisted Sister* - _Stay Hungry_ to the Christian shelf.
Peter Cetera has one of the best voices in rock but also one of the most distinctive. Besides Michael McDonald, when you hear Peter sing you know who it is immediately.
You actually said it backwards. Peter Cetera was one of the original members from 1968 and left the band in 1985 to pursue a solo career. 3 men in the band normally shared singing lead vocals in the early days (Peter Cetera on bass guitar & vocals, Terry Kath on lead guitar & vocals, and Robert Lamm on keyboards & vocals).
This song was written by Bobby Caldwell ("What You Won't Do For Love'). You pronounced Cetera correctly. Amy Grant started as the princess of Contemporary Christian Pop. She got shit for singing mainstream music, but she did it anyway. Had a big hit with "Baby, Baby" in the early 90s and went from there. She does an annual Christmas show on a short tour.
Yeah, he wasn't considered THE lead singer exactly then, because they traded vocals around early on, but he had the lead vocal on 25 or 6 to 4, and wasn't that on the first album? @@ChanelStuff

You know Peter is the lead singer of Chicago. Amy Grant is best known for her Christian music. They were never in the same room while filming this video.
Peter Cetera was with Chicago from the start. He shared lead vocals with Terry Kath and Robert Lamm. After the death of Terry Kath in 1978, Peter was pretty much the lead vocalist. Peter left the band in 1985 after the tour to support the Chicago 17 album that came out in 1984. Peter wanted to take downtime from the band after tours, so he could focus on solo stuff as well as still work with Chicago, but the band said no, so he left the band for a solo career. Jason Scheff replaced Peter Cetera on lead vocals. This song caused so much controversy in my house. Amy Grant started out as a contemporary Christian artist with songs like Father's Eyes and El Shadi. This was her first secular release. You coming from a similar background I'm sure can imagine how my parents felt about this. It didn't go over well. She became the first of many artist that started in the Christian music arena and moved over to secular stations. Love all of her stuff! ❤
What really was hard on her is she came out with her song baby baby - which is what she sang to her baby. Just the video is with another guy (not her husband at the time - Gary Chapman) and the Christian people had a cow!
I have always said that Peter was one of those unique, inspirational, and memorable voices of Rock-'n'-roll: think Steve Perry and Elton John, just to name two. With Chicago and in his solo work his voice and vocal range/tricks are instantly recognized. Amy has a lovely, light singing voice. A few of her Christian singles crossed over to the pop radio stations. A great pairing for this song even if Peter did seem to take over during the second half.
This track hit #1 on the HOT 100 in 1986! This was one of two times Amy Grant hit #1 on the HOT 100, the other time being with her big hit "Baby Baby" in 1991! You should also check that one out as well! Great track!

I heard an interview with Michael O'Martian (on Rick Beato), who produced this song. Amy Grant was not Cetera's first choice. When O'Martian recommended Amy Grant, Cetera said "Who's Amy Grant?" O'Martian then took Cetera to an Amy Grant concert that was packed out and as they say..."the rest is history."

I vividly remember the controversy this song caused in Christian circles. Amy was the top selling contemporary Christian artist of the 80s and when she did this secular love song as a duet with someone other than her husband, it caused a huge stir in church circles. She did it again with Vince Gill and sure enough around that time she divorced her contemporary Christian artist husband Gary Chapman and married Vince Gill. Her secular releases became very successful around that transition time, and has been happily married with several more kids ever since❤ We were rabidly interested in the private lives of our gospel artists back then and a lot of them who divorced lost their careers. Very few made a successful pivot like Amy 👏

Steve Lukathor from TOTO did the guitars in that song.
As one of his Chicago band mates said,"there are millions of tenors, and none of them sound like Peter Cetera." .
Voz 🗣️ linda desse homem músicas dele são 🔝🔝🔝❤ sim senhora de valor 👏
These duets are always so revealing when you see them. Have you done Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville? If not you should...
Any Grant is married to Vince Gill. She has a great voice with her own catalog respectfully! Yes Peter G has a great voice and Catalog!
You have to check out his duet with Cher. After All. The vocals. 🤯 The video has an added bonus. The song was on the soundtrack for Chances Are. It has a babyfaced Robert Downey Jr., and the video has clips from the movie throughout. Btw, it's a great movie, too. I'm probably in the minority there.
If you are, then I am too. I love that movie!
@DonnaKubiski Yay!!! My friends dragged my ass for months on this movie, lol.
❤❤❤❤
4:39 Funny you should say this about “shorty.” Amy Grant got her start in gospel.
Breathe -Monday Morning Blues.
Watch Amys song "El Shadi" ... 👍 ... Or "my fathers hands" ❤
Please please please…listen to Brenda Russell’s Piano in the dark. It’s one of my absolute favorites!❤❤ You’ll love it.

The official 90s rock wedding song. 😂❤
(Edited to correct to Gary, not Michael) Amy Grant-super controversial in the Christian music world. She was an icon. Then crossed over to pop, divorced her husband (Gary Chapman) and married Vince Gill (huge country icon) within a year. ✌️❤️
Gary Chapman
@@davidketchum104you are correct. My bad. I also had Michael W Smith on my mind since he sang and toured a lot with Amy and Gary. ✌️❤️
@jenniferkasowicz9463 My wife and I saw Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith last year for their Christmas holiday tour. Fantastic!
