Always wonderful to see you, Stick. I'm on day 25 in the hospital, and I hope to go home tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your journey. Embrace the journey and happy trails. From your NC friend.🙏
Was so excited when you shared your summer work videos with us too! Now, even more excited to get back on trail with you! Yes, enjoy your time on trail...you don't have a job you have to get to for now...just take it all in. We are cheering you on. Haven't had time to comment until now but wanted to let you know we're watching!
I think that the ascent of Wildcat Mountain (Wildcat Ridge Trail) is considered the steepest mile on the AT. In a half-mile section, hikers climb 1,000 feet, and in total, they climb 2,000 feet in less than 1.5 miles. For Nobos, there might not be quite as much agreement. But after watching TH-cam videos from both Nobos and Sobos, I can tell you that ALL the Sobos considered it the steepest DESCENT on the trail. Sobos complain about that descent who basically don't complain about anything else! You did really well! I am impressed!
That type of terrain is called karst ( crust) and the special soldiers karstenjager. ( Hunters.) On the trail my guess is the favorite habitat of Rock Trolls. They grab ankles from under rocks and poles. Sir Romeo carves escaped last night. He marked half his body weight. Made the rounds of all the females and felines. After keeping me sleepless he finally hopped into the RV for breakfast then slept all day. And about ten lively fleas from some feline nest.
After all that "boulder blazing", you deserve a good night's sleep. Glad you got another good weather day to hike. I think it's rather impressive to be able to look back at where you were and what you've conquered. I went back and watched parts of your earlier videos... it seems ages ago since you started... as the saying goes, "you've come a long way, Baby!" Happy Trails! 👟🎒⛺️🌲🗻💚😊
Beautiful views today. Safe travels.
