It's Kali just a different interpretation of the art. For modern military its better to give the large muscle movement techniques due to fine motor movements go out the window under adrenalin. Like I said its a different interpretation of Kali. There are others that also look just slightly different from one another.
Theres a Lot of different kind of Kali System on FMA. Theres also Dekiti Tirsha Kali and many more... its the same like the Karate theres also a lot of system kind of karate. Like Shotokan/Kyokushin/Goyu-Ryu and many more.. So its the same in Japan Karate theres a lot if system as well. 😉 Maybe that Foreign Instructor was studying also a Kali in his Filipino Master/Instructor. Then maybe he got Promoted by his master to become an instructor. Because theres a lot of Foreigners studying the Kali or FMA. So if they are pass from the master training for a years and if you have a potential to be an instructor so you will get promoted as a instructor it doesnt matter if you are a Foreigner. As long you will carry and teach to your students the Root and Principles of Kali. Its the same if you are Studying in Karate as well.😉👍
