    When i was young somewhere in my province batangas philippines we play and practice kali with the weapon called balisong 29 also known as butterfly blade and karet or karambit. Kali is avery dangerous style every move is to kill.

    FMA mixed with Muay Thai and Boxing becomes even deadlier. It's a very flexible martial arts that can incorporate other techniques.

    • @IntelOpsUnit0-21
      @IntelOpsUnit0-21 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just imagine, if you have prior knowledge of other martial arts before learning Kali, you'd be unstoppable with movements like flowing water and strikes so devastating that every hit is a guaranteed K.O. . 😮😮😮

  • @manwithmountain
    @manwithmountain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The way Apolo Ladra explains the movement and why is the main difference; same as with Doug Marcaida. I've also seen him on a few Bobby Taboada videos.

    Eskrima/kali/arnis was always used for a surprised attack. Its not a defensive arts..
    Its for killing.. the faster the better.

  • @YY-wu7et
    @YY-wu7et 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    I think his main point was to never preoccupy yourself with defense alone. And that makes sense. In most real life fighting scenarios the aggressor usually comes out on top. The idea that you can just defend until the opponent makes a mistake is pure fantasy.

    • @IntelOpsUnit0-21
      @IntelOpsUnit0-21 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Indeed, in other words, why go on the defensive when you can go on an intense offensive right from the start? Kali is indeed a thing of beauty. A deadly and dangerous beauty.

  • @alfredoalmencion7615
    @alfredoalmencion7615 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I believe Kali/arnis/eskrima are actually not an art of self-defense but offense. When you're being attacked there's no time for compassion, the instinct is to kill not only to demobilize the opponent (unless you're a master who has the excellent ability to control any situation). And I am not yet or will ever be a master of the art.

    • @joelirag3718
      @joelirag3718 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its both. A hybrid. Your defending (block/parry) then countering (offense) Special forces teach these arts to their soldiers for close combat.

    From basic hand drills,to weapons,all are deadly moveset that has the ability to instantly end someone else's life instantly which is not allowed in MMA sport .our FMA is widely used for military training exercises and seminars.

    I lit you know that Kali was a Combat Martial Arts not a Sport like Karate, this was design to defend your self and kill your opponents , during Spanish and Filipino war also American and Filipino war. And also use this in street fight, any thing that you can find in your surrounding you can used that as a weapon , sand, stones, stick, papers, toothpick, mamy more.

  • @bokman2k1d
    @bokman2k1d ปีที่แล้ว

    you can't stay defensive using arnis/kali/escrima (knife fighting), it should be always offensive and counter offensive only otherwise you'll end up badly injured/dead. there's is no defense in knife or blade attacks but offense/counter offense only.

  • @kiyoshi3300
    @kiyoshi3300 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Kali is just like other Martial arts example: when your opponent throw a punch,that will leave his side head uncover. Now that's the right time to throw more lethal counter attacks. That's how kali works and also the Kali Fighting style is infinite.

We are hoping that there there is someone like the infamous chinese MMA beating up taichi and kung fu masters just to prove that these martial arts are just for show. Yes militaries uses this but you will not see them being used in real life. Look at those civilian videos that former MMA fighters tackling would be criminals and suspects.while if you see an FMA he will say to the would be assailant that wait I will search for a barbecue stick and someone who will shoot the video this will be so good in social media

    uhm no, he´s not "fast" he´s on point in time and space, the art is about timing and positioning, don´t listen to the words through Karategoggles, there is no "block" in Pekiti Tirsia Kali, every defense is just offense vice versa, the video is deceiving, don´t watch the hands,- watch the stepping. Ever heard of sen no sen, go no sen, sensen no sen? That´s the timing, before, equal, behind, There is not one line there are mutiple which as he states can be bisected. The art is trigometry, the geometry of space, without space there can be no time, without time there can be no space. There is no emptyhand system, all systems come from the blades. Funakoshi taught to regard you feet and hands as swords, karate ni sente nashi means just what it says, don´t be the person to attack first, the reason why you root in sanchin dachi is this and the execution of timing. Karate starts with rei ends with rei, understand what it means and why it´s essentiell especially not in the Dojo. Seichusen is your centerline,
    find the others for your self. 8 directions in the 2D plane, 64 in 3D space, a thrust is a slash, a slash is a thrust, a push is apull a pull is a push. A tsuki btw is no thrust it´s a pull/push. No footwork no nothing. 3 is magic. Morote uke is bullshit it´s meotode mother and child hand, it´s chaining you hands. Mawashi uke is bullshit, it´s 1,2,3/parrycheckblow, gedan barai haha no jodan barai? age uke? drop the names explore the technique, make it big make it small, koshikoshi it´s your hip but what do you do with it? what about you solar plexus? find the triangles then understand the circles. Maybe that´ll help you on the way. Take a deep look at the symbol on his shirt, take a deep look at the taiji symbol.
