Ok. I gotta give this guy some props for a few things. 1. He has a work bench. 2. His shop is well organized. 3. He's wearing boots. 4. He used an actual micrometer. All he needs now, are a few more tools and a parts washer. Good job.
I’ve been going through these Prince valves for over 40 years, the only thing I do different, other than I have a parts washer, is the final assembly of the spool. The edge of the spool land is really sharp, if you leave the seal clear back against the support plate/spring assembly and put a little grease on it, you have less chance of cutting it. This I speak from experience. Otherwise, this man did a nice job. If he paid attention, which I gamble he did, he can reset the relief within a smidge if where it was, probably close enough for what this goes on. He’s obviously done enough if these to know how/where to set it at. He honed the body with a lather and by hand, this was pretty ingenious. Consider where he’s at and what supplies he has, he’s talented. Nice job sir!

Well this is one well done job. His workshop is quite tidy and organized, seal rings are nicely packed in clean plastic containers by sizes. His tools are very basic but they get the job done. He works very carefully and collects all the parts washes them and inspect them using real, proper micrometer. While doing the assembly, he carefully oils everything and never uses excessive force and all parts remain very clean all the time. I have seen this particular mechanic in few more videos, he is specialized in hydraulics and he is doing the same quality work every time. There is place for improvement but only in better tools, workbench, some more headspace (he seems quite tall) and parts washer. So, this mechanic deserves full respect for his job. I must say that he is one of the rare examples of how job should be done even if you have not so ideal workshop and tools. You simply must invest lot of skill, attention and care in what you are doing. Great job mate!

это регулируемый предохранительный клапан, а не гидрорегулятор. и он зажал его НЕ рабочей стороной. "рабочая грань" у него снизу на торце. так что он все норм сделал.
This guy is excellent, I’m very impressed simply because I never thought these valves could be repaired, obviously I was proven wrong. Excellent work and I really enjoy watching your channel!!!!!!
Hi from Australia, I really enjoyed the content of your video and the skill you demonstrated, I like hydraulics and found your channel very interesting. Thankyou for posting
Problem is, whether it's a battery charger, an alternator, a motor, a hydraulic cylinder, or a valve, you NEVER see the part being tested under actual conditions. In this case it's nice that the seals now don't leak under zero pressure, but under real use they have to also hold back 2,500 PSI. It's questionable if they can do that, or for how long.
lapping the bore would increase the spool clearance and cause more leakage ! Only if you fitted and lapped a over size spool would this method improve things. The only reason it held fluid after was the assembly oil viscosity stopped the flow. The clearance of the spool to the bore is worse than before. If I am overlooking something here I would love to hear it !

And he is not working on the floor...
You forgot to mention he was pouring water from a silver chalice, that was the icing on the cake 🤣🤣
Gift him a Dewalt battery drill and he would increase production by at least 50%.

Ну вот, без наждачной бумаги всё собрал. Молодец 👏

He used a larger spool from his big collection of spools. see @2:28 where he measures and chooses a suitable oversize spool.
Can this job be done without having to lap the bore? Im looking at fixing the same on a backhoe.

So nice of you.
Thank you! Cheers!
like the videos ...not sure grinding the bore, with these tight tolerances, will make it work better?.
it looked like he was using lapping (polishing) paste, not grinding the bore
if using old spool then lapping it
should have make the leaking worse
@@SiamWoodShop lapping is to fit two surfaces together, doing one surface only will increase clearance...will make valve action smoother.
