Watch "Live at Riverplate" from 2009. You must not make any more judgements until you see them live and then realise what you are seeing is from 1990 and they began performing in 1975.
AC/DC naughty? Well, yes: They typically are. Brian Johnson's (the lead singer's) voice is rather unusual. But so was the band's previous lead singer, Bon Scott. AC/DC's fandom is split regarding which one is preferred.
'Thunderstruck' was written by AC/DC lead guitarist Angus Young after his flight encountered a thunderstorm and the plane was hit by turbulence... However, AC/DC's songs lyrics are largely about sex, as well as booze, partying and rock n' roll... since their inception in Australia in 1973... 'Thunderstruck' was a major comeback hit single for AC/DC in 1990. AC/DC has always been a "good, tough rock n' roll band" and have never strayed from their sound of basic guitars/ bass/ drums/ vocals and no keyboards or electronics ... Formed by Scottish-born brothers Angus and Malcolm Young in Australia, the brothers loved 50's and 60's rock n' roll music and their older brother George Young was the guitarist of a popular Aussie band The Easybeats... George & his former Easybeats bandmate Harry Vanda produced AC/DC's early records in the 70's (and one later in the 80's) Angus Young (lead guitar) was quite active onstage and his sister suggested wearing a schoolboy outfit cos he was so short and looked very striking in it. So, Angus became the band's mascot... Angus and Malcolm's sister also suggested the band name AC/DC from the label of her sowing machine... Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar) assumed a quiet role playing guitar behind his brother Angus. AC/DC were a local band in Sydney when they met another Scottish immigrant named Bon Scott, who had been a singer since the 1960's... He joined AC/DC in 1974 and recorded their first 2 albums in Australia in 1975... By 1976, AC/DC was signed internationally and toured the UK for the first time... They finally played North America in 1977 w/ Bon Scott (vocals), Phil Rudd (drums) and Cliff Williams (bass). After releasing their international debut album 'High Voltage' in 1976, AC/DC toured Europe and N. America relentlessly and finally scored a gold selling record in 1976 w/ their 6th album 'Highway to Hell'... AC/DC headlined their own tour that year. Bon Scott helped AC/DC write some of their early fave songs like - "Highway to Hell"... "It's a long way to the top (if you wanna rock n' roll)"... "Girl's got rhythm" ... 'Dirty deeds done dirt cheap' ... 'Let there be rock' ... 'T.N.T.' ... 'Shot down in flames'... Singer Bon Scott was the swagger of AC/DC as Angus Young was the mascot... It came as a shock in early 1980 when tragedy hit the band... Bon Scott was found dead after passing out in a friend's car in the UK after a night of drinking at the bars. Already devastated, AC/DC were furious that the British press at the time mocked Bon Scott's death in print - they refused to talk to the UK press for a decade... It was Bon Scott's parents who urged Angus and Malcolm Young carry on w/ AC/DC. Returning to the UK in 1980, AC/DC picked Brian Johnson (vocals), who had been in a UK band called Geordie in the 70's... They recorded their 7th album 'Back in Black' in 1980 in Bon Scott's memory and it became the biggest record of their career - 27 million copies sold in the US, 50 million+ worldwide... and still selling today! Songs like - 'Back in Black'... 'You shook me all night long' ... 'Hells bells' ... 'Shoot to thrill'... "Rock n' roll ain't noise pollution" are huge favorites on radio and for AC/DC fans. 'Back in Black' by AC/DC is one of the top 5 best selling records of all time. Unfortunately, subsequent AC/DC albums in the 80's were not as successful commercially... However, AC/DC persisted recording albums like 'Fly on the wall' (1985)... 'Blow up your video' (1988)... and touring and had a reputation as an incendiary live band... Their big comeback came in 1990 from their 12th album "The Razor's Edge"... which sold 6 million copies in the US alone w/ 'Thunderstruck' being a huge hit single... Chris Slade (drums) played on that record and tour; longtime drummer Phil Rudd was fired in 1983 but rejoined AC/DC in 1995. AC/DC toured less frequently, releasing the albums - 'Ballbreaker' (1995)... 'Stiff upper lip' (2000) and 'Black ice' (2008) but their catalog sold massively; 200 million+ worldwide and climbing... AC/DC's music is still popular in the streaming age... Unfortunately, AC/DC went through some upheavals in recent years... Founding guitarist Malcolm Young was diagnosed w/ dementia and retired in 2013; he passed away in 2017... Angus and Malcolm's nephew Stevie Young (rhythm guitar) replaced Malcolm Young. Brian Johnson (vocals) suffered from hearing loss and had to be replaced on their 2016 tour by Guns N' Roses singer W. Axl Rose... Drummer Phil Rudd was arrested in New Zealand in 2014 and faced criminal charges and has been unable to tour w/ AC/DC... Bassist Cliff Williams announced his retirement in 2016 and played his last show in 2023. AC/DC recorded their 2020 album 'Power up' in memory of Malcolm Young w/ Johnson, Williams and Rudd in the studio... Brian Johnson returned w/ hearing aid technology to help him perform again... but in 2024, AC/DC began touring w/ Matt Laug (drums) and Chris Chaney (bass).
I grew up listing to AC/DC, especially this song (an Aussie pub classic) and I can't believe my parents let me happily sing along to this at that age hahaha It's about what you presumed, but also about literally being struck by lightening (50s school boy Angus was in a plane that got struck by lightening which helped inspire it)
The guitarist (Angus) was still at school when the band formed and had no time to change for some of the early gigs, so the joke stuck with him always dressed in his school uniform.
Fark, your take on this is fresh to me! I have not heard those words in this song from my childhood before and can not unhear it now...lol You are prolly correct!! Back In Black - that song from the year 1980, there are parts where the singer of AC/DC is RAPPING! I hope that you catch that!!!
Back when this was new, the only time we had closed captions, are when the president or someone important was speaking, so we just had no clue what this singer was saying, about half the time. Still don't, TBH. But it rocks so who cares?
😂😂😂😂 Loved the hilarious reaction brother! They have so many cheeky songs. “Girls got Rhythm”, “Shook me all night long”, “Big Balls”, “She’s got the Jack”, “whole lot of Rosy”, just to name a few 😂
Hehe, love the penny drop moment. Yes you got it right. Yeah lots of AC/DC songs are cheeky songs with double meanings by the bucket load. Musically they keep it simple, lively and fun so the albums are always great for driving and parties.
Yes Brian does sing like that. They chose him because his voice was close to the original singers range (RIP Bon Scott). When he talks he has a deep voice with a Geordie accent, because he is actually more of a northerner than you. The band are from Australia but Brian is from Newcastle
I love that this song seems to be set up to slowly elevate your heartrate until you're banging your head in a manic state and rocking out!! love your reactions bro!! 🎸🙌
If this hasn't been made clear in a comment yet. This is the 2nd singer for AC/DC and by no means am I slighting on Brian Johnson. He did absolutely phenomenal taking over after Bon Scott died (I'm sure someones going to come in and say there was a guy before Bon, but sorry he doesn't count but thanks for playin). Both are great and worth your time listening to. I would suggest you go back and listen to earlier AC/DC with Bon and work your way back to Brian and see their natural progression and the magic of when Brian took over.

If you hear some songs with the original singer you will understand why they chose Brian to replace him. Bonn wrote lots of naughty songs that appeal to the Auzzie and British sense of humour. For example he wrote a song called "Big Balls" which is about how he likes to fill the ballroom and have the best parties in town (or is it).

New subscriber here 👍 AC/DC is one of the greats & still touring. The Vocalist Brian Johnson is the 2nd Vocalist to join the band after thier original singer Bon Scott passed away. This was always playing during football games, during my Friday night lights Era 🏈 definitely recommend "Who Made Who" from the MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE(1986) soundtrack 👌 His voice will grow on you. Highly recommend FAITH NO MORE "Falling To Pieces" & Epic" for starters.
YES!! The big guy with the squeaky voice 😂 I actually like that actor! He played a guy with a micropenis in New Girl too so it seemed Hollywood hated him 😂 But more recently he was in a Guy Ritchie film called Ungentlemenly Warfare or something and he’s an absolute unit in that! Good film too, definitely recommend!

If Elmo sang rock n roll
The lead singer (Brian Johnson) sounds like your average Geordie when he talks normally, has a low, soft gravelly sound
Ironically, He was the singer in a band called Geordie in the 70s
