- Day 1 of ATR (Appalachian Toyota Roundup) 2022 we hit it hard with trail 30!! Windrock Park Trail 30 is a black trail, and in an FJ Cruiser set up for overlanding, not rock crawling it was a bit of a challenge. Day 2 brought the breakage, but here on day 1 it was all good times!! Come join in the fun!!
Such a pleasure to ride with you guys. Hopefully we’ll get to again! You two are such sweet good people. -Jon(red tundra)
Ya it was awesome Rollin with you. We love your tundra. And I gotta say I feel a slight guilty about that scratch. When I went through those trees I thought there's no way Jon's gonna make that... I should have hopped out and stopped you. I had a chainsaw, we could have made room. But you rolled through and I thought you were clear until I saw the tree wriggle. But dood, can't wait to wheel with ya again. We'll stay in touch...
Thanks Jon! We had a great time with you and can’t wait to hit more trails with you again!
SUPER CHALLENGING, GREAT JOB!
I always tell people we have a great group to wheel with and I think this video highlights that (I imagine the day 2 vid will further confirm, lol). This is my favorite trail combination (30/33/51) at Windrock. East Tennessee wheeling for the win! Great video! -Matt
Unfortunately day 2 is going to be all recovery, but it very much does show a great group of friends all throwing in to make sure Michael made it home.
Looks like a fun time
Windrock is always a fun time!
Wow, thats tough for the first day out! Bit rough if nobody signed up for a straight up black trail!
Jeezzz, Id love to wheel with you guys!
Ya it was a bit rough. They're was a mostly stock tacoma about 4 trucks behind me. I felt real bad for that guy...
Love the channel! The FJ is a beast out on the trails!
Thank you! We really had a great time. Love me some Windrock!
Nice driving. I am definitely going to have to check out Trail 30 in the Red Beast that looked like fun.
Loved trail 30. I will warn you that it gets pretty narrow in a couple spots and the red tundra that was with us did some body damage through spots that he just didn't fit. These east coast trails get real narrow.
@@EverymanOverland Do you remember what kind of body damage?
@@redbeastadventures broke both tail lights, dragged both sides of the bed on rocks and the driver door as I remember. But it was a couple years ago at this point so I might be missing some.
@@EverymanOverland Ouch!
@@redbeastadventures ya. He took it in stride, but the rest of us cringed all day.
The people in the White Lexus didn't look to thrilled with the trail choice!!!
I think they were less happy on day 2, that video releases today... But I think they were having a great time. Much like me I don't think they knew we were going to hit a black rated trail, but we all adjusted and the day was awesome!
It was another amazing ATR 2022! Meet up with old and new friends, share the moments and enjoy it 👍
I'd be down for a NC linkup in the future!
What part of NC are you in? Where do you like to wheel?
@@EverymanOverland I'm about 4 hours east of Boone. Planning a trip to Old NC 105 next week but I've only ever camped in Uwharrie and near Wilmington. Using your videos of NC wheeling for inspiration!
@@moynihansamm I'm hoping to hit uwharrie before the end of the year, but we'll see if that actually happens. Nc105 is just a dirt road, but offers some fantastic scenery. Lots of camping too!
@@EverymanOverland I don't recommend some of the rock crawling routes, I almost busted up my 4rubner even after upgrades. The trails are great though. Any overlanding trails around 105 you recommend with camping?
@@moynihansamm I've been to uwharrie, and we ran all the trails except the front side of Daniel and Dutch John. Had a great time, but I feel like I gotta hit the last "D". As for trails near the 105, I don't. We ran old house gap rd, but it's closed now. The closest I can think of is hurricane creek, but that's farther away for you by a couple hours.
What size tires on that FJ?
33 12.50 17 on 17x9
11:15. And that's why God made skidplates!
Yup. I wish I had good ones. One of these days... I can't post a picture in the comments here but I left windrock with a badly bent rear trailing arm and sheared off a couple alignment tabs... So the new arms are already in, just gotta get the alignment tabs welded next week...
@@EverymanOverland You certainly put Janky through the paces, no doubt about that! Great video!
@@AramatOverlanding thank you! Really was a great day!
It's a black diamond trail that was blue many years ago when i bought my map. Good thing i bought a new map. Probably many changes. Also listing all the new trails.
Next time i go i will run this trail thanks to your video.
It was a great trail. I want to go back for sure!
