That’s a fun obstacle on Trail 51. Just got back from running that trail in the Red Beast with Nick in a Geo Tracker. Nick had a similar experience to your crew going up. With the long wheel base, the Red Beast just climbed up (also had all wheels locked). I guess in some cases the longer wheel base comes in handy. I will be posting that video in a week or so.
Great video. Looked like a good time. I definitely need and will go there soon. Finally took the Red Beast on its first trail to Brown Mountain a few days ago and had a great time. Lots of new to me trails to explore with Hurricane Creek probably up next.
Sweet! I know of brown mtn, but I have not been there yet. Keep having a good time with your new toy!
Two questions related to camping... 1. I noticed you used a ground tent this trip. How do you like it versus the RTT and are you going to continue using the RTT? 2. Are you camping within Windrock or is that just outside of Windrock?
That was a windrock camp site. We only used the ground tent to hold our stuff while we were wheeling. We still slept in the rtt. We got the ikamper last year and love it. I'm totally not going to switch to a ground tent. I love having a rtt. That ikamper is worth every penny after having the standard size and then the xl smittybilt. Sets up fast, stays dark inside, it's super nice.
I’ll take that shoutout!!
