What I love about OG is that they are so good at making diverse characters, even a Muslim character, and giving them a really wide range of interests!
I always recommend to parents to spring for an AG doll but get OG for everything else. Their accessories are so cute and they have so many of them!
now that you have the og house i need a fulll tour!! i think our generation is so aware of their audience and definitely do a lot of things very well -especially their accessories and big ticket items. as an irish collector, they're definitely most easily accessible to me!
Our Generation is a really cute brand. In regards to the dolls, I like the newer face molds and the variety the company offers - especially how many boy dolls they have available. I agree the heads can be wobbly and I wish the arms didn’t bow out weirdly but for the price they can’t be beat. One other bad thing is that the cut of the hair can be very jagged which is more noticeable on the straight haired dolls. I think one of your negatives can also very much be applied to American Girl (especially the truly me line) and that is they don’t really offer basics. Many of the AG clothing and accessories tend to be childish and brightly colored. I actually find there are more neutral items offered by OG. I also would really like that OG dollhouse but I have nowhere to put it. Melina was my first OG doll. I have about 40 OG dolls now and I need to downsize my collection but she is one I will never get rid of. I love her.
Our Generation is a brand that fits more with my morals on diversity with their dolls. I’m still waiting for AG to release a Muslim doll which Our Generation already have for a year now! Plus, when I am struggling financially and want more diversity in my collection, they are the first go to! Honestly, OG wins in the diversity category over AG!
It's so sad that AG is not keeping up with their promise for diversity. I remember talking with somebody and saying that Addy is the longest running AG dolls of all time. (She has never been retired since her release, based on my sources). The person said that AG would not retire Addy since she is one of their only African American dolls. (I mean, if you asked me to name as many of AG's African American dolls as I could, I would only be able to think of Claudie, Melody, Addy, and the one "World by Us" character). Plus, Ivy has been their only Asian historical character and she's been retired forever. We've also never really had a historical doll with a physical disability, which really saddens me since the Special Olympics was founded in 1968 and thus could be a part of the story of a historical doll with a physical disability. Plus, AG could adapt their doll boxes to make wheelchairs included with dolls that are portrayed as having a physical disability. I know they make wheelchairs for AG and hearing aids that can be added to dolls, but It's always separate and costs more money. Thus, giving your doll that type of representation comes at a price.
Hopefully one day AG will wake up to the need for more diversity in their line up. Until then, I'm glad other doll lines like OG and Mattel's "Monster High" are stepping up. (Monster High currently has a non-binary character in the line as well as a character who is portrayed in the animated media as Autistic, which really brings me joy personally.)

One thing I can’t stand about OG is their limbs. They seem to thin and the arms are curved weirdly.

OG needs to take the note about making basics for dolls, I don't get why its so hard to just find a plain colored top or some simple jeans for my dolls. My only other note is I wish the shoes we're plastic, like I get its a price thing, but at least personally I wouldn't mind spending a couple dollars more to get shoes made of real materials.
Overall, i agree. I think they're very good value for the money. I am not a fan of the hair though. The last few OG dolls I've gotten have had sparse rooting and/or lots of knots and tangles that had to be cut out. I also don't care for the plastic shoes that most come with. But the face molds are very cute, and the clothes are decent quality. The accessories beat AG most of the time.
OG brand has lots of great sets for kids and adult collectors. My favorite is the beach house. Everything is well priced. I hope you do get the doll house and shoot a video over it. I am wanting to get it as well. Great video 😁
Great video, Kris. I also had the same experience with OG and also received some items to promote on agig. I chose photos rather than videos, and they were okay with that. I love Melina's face mold and also Julietta's, which is the same face mold. The wobby head and penguin arms are aspects that I am not fond of. I was at Target yesterday, and they had a fully stocked aisle. 😊

What I love about OG is that unlike AG, they are sold worldwide. Doll house is my dream but unfortunstely they don't sell it here, in Russia. I love OG as they are the main source of accessories for my AG dolls. I have their Dream Academy set - it is such a great interactive play set! It fits perfectly WillieWisher sized dolls and my kids play it a lot as they are both schoolchildren now.

I have quite a bit of OG clothes, accessories, furniture, and play sets. I do not like how the dolls look really, and I have my young daughter play with TLC AG dolls instead of buying her an OG doll. OG shoes are probably my least favorite thing from the whole brand. Maybe I’m cheap, but I do find some of their items expensive for the quality. Overall great brand! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with all of us.
I agree with most of your opinions about Our Generation! I think the quality for the price is amazing, and I love a lot of their outfits.
I really like the face molds, too. I collect AG but OG's faces without the smile is appealing to me! After all, how many people walk around with a smile all the time? Well, maybe you! Hope you know I'm just teasing!😁 I would smile all the time if I had your smile! It is a shame though, that OG's heads don't come off (I think?) so they can be stuffed more and limbs tightened. And yes, Wigs would work better for customizing! (I enjoy doing that) Better mix and match basics would be appreciated! Thank you for sharing this, Kris! These dolls would be wonderful found under the Chritmas tree! 🎁🎄🙂

Sweet review 💖 OG dolls definitely have a lot of great quality accessories and the clothes are cute! I'm not as much into the dolls faces, but the one you have in this video looks sweet. I can't say that I wouldn't ever buy an OG doll, but not high on my want list right now. I know some collectors who love these dolls. I agree about the clothes. I wish they had more mature options. Also the new face mold is cute and all but they are using it to death. They need to switch up their face molds more so I don't feel like I am just buying the same doll over and over.

The other day at 2:00 a.m. the part of me that locked herself away who absolutely adored my American girl dolls was real awoken. I ordered number it was 118 or 119 the one with blue hair and I'm obsessed with her already. I hate the texture of her hair and I can't wait to learn updos to do. Thank you for just existing because mentioning things like a basic line makes me feel like the last few days of searching and finding nothing that I liked for clothing was valid.

Hi Kris! I love your videos so much! Could you perhaps review the Jilly Bing Doll? She is an asian american doll that was created by a mother who wanted her daughter and other asian children to feel more represented in their toys!
I love the accessories and some outfits but the dolls themselves are not great. The hair sucks, and the dolls faces are squishy. I had a couple as a kid but preferred AG. I also don't like their shoes. They have no detail. Maybe they have gotten better though.
Speaking of doll houses can you do a review on the American girl one? Because I was cinsiderikng it and I can’t find a single person that reviewed it
Our generation is one of the few bootlegs we get here in Australia. It would be nice to score an American Girl doll in Australia tho 😂 love this vid tho
