      Hey Kevin, I Love the simplicity and clear/concise style of your teaching. It puts you at ease right from the beginning of your videos. You seem to communicate right from the beginning of each video, "Hey, you can do this! This is how!" Rock on! I also like the song selections, they're all songs we've heard, and mostly wanna play. I look forward to watching all your videos.

    Great lesson as usual. Sometimes I’ll be thinking I’m moving my index finger on a new chord but I’m actually moving my ring finger… funny how the brain works!! Thank you for posting!

    Good exercise. The suggestion to use your other hand to assist certain finger placements is a good one. I remember having to do that on the G7 chord when I first started. After a day of helping my index finger hit the first fret, it worked on its own the following day.

    I saw this same exercise on another TH-camr video. I’ve been performing this at the beginning of every practice session, which has been nearly every day for about twelve weeks or so, and still my ring finger will not conform to the instructions from my brain. It’s a lot better than when I started, but is still a work in progress - I shall not be defeated! Great channel.

    Great idea. As a beginner, I'm going to do this, and then add walking each finger up and down the fretboard vertically string by string at its assigned fret. I'm calling it "finger walkups".

    I am hopeful that this may help me with Led Zeppelins "Thank You" A simple "D" Chord became a nightmare for me using the different fingerings. You or some of your followers may be familiar. As always thank You, Maggie Mae and Vickie. ( apologies if I misspelled their names) lol

    It"s a great lesson. My problem is my fingers are short so i can"t arch them very high .So my pinky lays on the other strings. Plus it's a hard stretch.

      Hey Ted, do the best you can, doing this a little a day will increase your range, it is ok if you don't do the full 6 string reach.

    My instructor has me do this warm up that you're illustrating, but after a few weeks of that, he's mixed it up more. He has me put my index finger on low E and pinky on high E and then switch them. That took about two weeks because that ring finger wants to move with the pinky. After I managed that, he added index finger and ring finger doing the same thing. The first few reps are ugly, but they're getting easier. Then last week he has me doing this with middle finger and pinky. I did not think it was going to be challenging, but it's even harder than index and ring! My brain is clearly communicating to that middle finger, but it is stubborn. So, when I need the middle finger on the low E, I just imagine that I'm giving someone the bird. Baahahahahaaaa! It's helping a little bit. I mean, come on, that finger has often stood alone, and now that it's on the neck of a guitar it suddenly wants to be bashful--or maybe it's a diva and used to having a solo and not share the limelight with the lowly pinky? What is up with that? LOL Anyhow, as always, I appreciate your videos, and love that you share you own experiences.
