I'm a life long native of NJ born in 1959. I've explored and have been all over the state, especially in the pinebarrons and have never seen the Jersey Jersey Devil. But growing up I've had a lot of old timers said they have seen it, including my dad who was born in 1919. But I'm proud that we have a legendary monster. I have books about it. I for one believe in the well documented story but I think it died a long time ago and no longer exists.

One of the scariest stories I ever heard about the Barrens was about 2 teenage boys. I don't think they said why but they were homeless one Summer and decided to go camp there. Strange noises, footsteps, and tree snaps scared them badly enuf that they wanted to leave. On the way out Bigfoot ran out of the woods screaming and chased them. For some reason there was a large hole in the ground and the boys jumped in hoping to hide. Bigfoot ran around them and at them close enuf to kick dirt into the hole. It kept this up while screaming until the sun was high enuf that they felt safe to leave. This story may have been on Sasquatch Chronicles. If I find it I'll edit this comment.

Oh, I’m sure it does still exist. I believe the so-called Jersey Devil is actually a real, man-sized creature that looks like a moth man. Too many people have seen this creature for it to not be real. Something is there! I, personally, think it could be a fallen angel shape shifting into the monster. We don’t know all they’re capable of doing, but we do know they can shape shift into whatever form they choose. So far, the creature isn’t hurting the people who’re seeing or hearing it, but those who’ve seen it KNOW what it’s capable of doing to them!

It’s pretty strange that pretty much every native culture around the world independently describe seeing the same type of creature with varying characteristics. Most Native American cultures passed down their traditions orally and lying about something this important would be highly frowned upon.

I didn't believe in BF. until myself and family members found the prints. We heard sounds and our animals on the ranch were nervous for about a week. This took place in northern Az . We lived 22 miles away from the little town, it was so little it didn't even have a stop light. One day we were walking on the property went down to the valley and then to another mesa on the property. Well I was coming down first from the mesa and saw the prints. Now I was taught to track. I showed the other family members and we were astounded. We looked for front prints since we thought it was a bear but found none. My brother in law put his foot to compare . It was definitely bigger . We followed them and it took a stride over a dry wash. The prints led up to the back of the property. Before we found the prints I was going from one building to anotherlate at night and felt like I was prey but it was too dark to see anything. I walked fast back to the building. The prints went right to the area I had been. So I believe it exists. This happened over forty years ago now. I found out that even my ancestors had a name for it Tsul Kalu.

My parents met in Atlantic city on the beach by the boardwalk back in 1989. My mothers entire side of the family lives around there and Toms River. But I grew up in my fathers home in Grant Parish Louisiana. My father was an extremely gifted woodsman and hunter. Ive lived in the wilderness my entire life. Althouth we live in a very superstitious and backwoods religious area. My family does not believe in alot of the things other people do. However one of my uncles saw something while deer hunting in the early 1990s near my familys village that changed his life forever. Although all 7 of my uncles were hunters all their lives. My uncle Peck will no longer go in the woods before daylight or after dark. It traumatized him and said what he saw looked like a werewolf. What made it even more credible is that our great uncle Johnny saw the same thing within the same time period a couple miles from where the first sighting took place. I assume its what our native american ancestors called the dogman. Until this day my uncle does not speak of what he enountered. He spent 4 days in his bedroom after the account and would not speak to anyone about what he had seen until he came out. But anyway I always thought thay the Jersey Devil was reported to be a half man half goat type creature? Im not sure why but I thought I once heard a story about it and thats what was how they described its appearance. But you know how stories change. Even religious doctrine changes and has continued to do so. Until the point to believe in any of it is completely ridiculous regardless of what anybody says or how many people are influenced to believe it anyways. You just have to be careful with what you believe. People self motivate their own beliefs and lie everyday. My dad taught us while hunting Raccoons at night that there was nothing to be afraid of in the darkness of the wilderness. Just incase our spotlights would die. He always reminded us as children that its not whats in the dark to be afraid of but instead its your own imagination and beliefs.

Has this dude ever been in the woods ANYWHERE ELSE than Jersey? They’re ALL relatively quiet places. Maybe some insects buzzing or squirrels chattering or birds tweeting but it’s not nonstop noise. At night the crickets will chirp.
I mean, don’t people usually say they want to get out of the city (and visit rural areas like the woods) for peace and quiet? And this guy twists what’s normal and turns it into something “supernatural”. What a hustler!

I encountered a very large bird - too large of a bird, while outside of town hunting with friends 1 afternoon in South Texas. I'd walked around 2 large trees & came face-to-face with a bird almost as tall as me & I'm 6' tall. It was standing bolt upright - like a human. It looked me straight in the eye & I saw intelligence & thought it was going to speak. Frightened by the unnaturalness, I swung my 12 gauge toward its chest & fired with the end of the barrel less than 2 feet away. I saw the shot impact its chest, saw the feathers spread apart in various directions, saw the flesh behind the feathers, but saw no blood or wound. It was unfazed & stood there looking at me - like it was disappointed in me. Then it unhurriedly turned around, & remaining upright, stepped like a human, over a log, took 2 quick steps, flapped its huge wings once & staying very close to the ground, glided to where the Rio Grande River bank sloped down to the water 20 feet below. I ran after it & watched as it banked sharply right & flew up river, then passing a stand of trees on the Mexican side, it flew up & over the southern embakement & behind those trees. I caught 1 last glimpse of it beyond those trees climbing high into the sky.
At least it didn't speak to me like an over 4' tall bird did to my oldest brother early 1 night. He'd stepped onto the back porch, saw it, it spoke in the voices of our 2 younger twin brothers saying they needed help. He stepped back inside & told our mother who corroborates this story. What he didn't know at the time was that the exact same thing was happening to our younger twin brothers except that 'bird' spoke in the voice of our older brother - again asking for help. They were with a good friend who witnessed all of this. Before cell phones, they ran to their car & sped into town screeching to a stop in front of our house. They came running inside alarmed & asking about our older brother where they all relayed what they'd experienced. I chalk this up to supernatural shenanigans because, other than scare the crap out of us, what else can disembodied spirits do for entertainment.

I am. Unfortunately, in my childhood home, built by my grandparents, these types of events were par for the course. Minutes long apparitions, items being repeatedly moved - seconds apart, banging sounds (not pipes but like someone was trying to tear down a wall with a sledge hammer) accompanied with the house shaking. Most things were experienced by multiple people. We took it in stride. Probably because we grew up in a Baptist Church, had all read the Bible extensively & had/have strong faith, we knew this entity lacked the authority to harm us. Perhaps because there never was a stretch of time filled with multiple events.

This Uncle is a big Country Boy Construction worker. That kind of story is not something that he would come up with. Nowadays he really does not like talking about it. It freaked him out pretty bad!

I have lived in WV my whole life. I've been to Point Pleasant many times. I worked there with the original Bell Telephone company, and AT&T and the former Wells Fargo Armored Truck company. We rabbit hunted with beagles in the McClintock Game Preserve where the Mothman sightings started many years. It was an ammo depot for WW-2. Authorities didn't know until recent years that the ammo was still there. The ponds and lakes were contaminated. I saw the bunkers and concrete pads with berms around them in the middle of the brush and wood. To me they looked like launching pads. The berms had square openings.l in them. Point Pleasant was also the site of a Revolutionary War Battlefield. I was only a kid when the Silver Bridge collapsed but I remember my uncle telling the Mothman story. I've fished the Kanawha and Ohio Rivers many times. I personally believe that the Mothman was a Blue Heron which is a tall crane type of bird. They are common on the rivers now, but back then, the rivers were badly polluted by the chemical companies before environmental laws were enacted. The book title The Silver Bridge gives a good explanation of the events including Chief Cornstalks curse. The thing about the Mothman sightings that intrigued me was the witnesses even in other areas across the state were upstanding citizens. But even the description of the footprints with 3 long toes match what a Blue Herons footprint would look like. The bridge collapsed because of a crack in a steel joint. The story suggests that the Mothman was there as a warning, which in my opinion is absolutely ridiculous. But it attracta tourists, and Point Pleasant really is a a beautiful town with a long history. I like the old Victorian style houses that are still there. And the old plantations along the Kanawha River on Route 35. We also hunted rabbit and dove in the soy bean fields. Again , the book The Silver Bridge is very interesting, with many stories about disasters and curses throughout history in that area. Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts with you.
OMG, I just saw the festival segment and Miss Mothman trying to sing. And paid witnesses. I bet there's some liars on that panel 😁.
It's no wonder we still live with the hillbilly stigma. Cause some of those people are what my brother called HillJacks . I call them Hicks. Oh well, I've loved living my life here. There are several different parts of the state as far north as Pittsburgh in the Northern Panhandle, Washington DC in Eastern Panhandle, the Ohio Valley, The Blue Ridge mountains where there's Helvetia, settled by the Swiss in 1869. We stayed in the Bed and Breakfast on Bow hunting, and Gun seasons for Deer and Black Bear for many years. They still practice the Swiss traditions. The Shenandoah Valley is on the other side of the mountains in VA. Then you have southern WV where the Hatfield McCoy Feud occurred. The descendants are still all over the state. I've worked with several during my lifetime.
There's the Polish in the Northern part of the state, Irish In the central. We have The Swiss and Germans. Chinese. It's a wonderful place to live.

The one guy on here that admits the mothman may have been a real creature is telling the truth. There are ectreme deviations in known species that make them unidentifiable to lay people even professionals without genetic testing etc. Nature truly does spit out some unusual things from time to time randomly. Particularly when you have pollutants and radiation exposure in an area for a long time. This is a totally reasonable explanation that doesn't discount eye witness experience s.

If you read the book, there’s way more too, the so-called men in Black. They drove cars from a different era. They wore clothes from a different era, and when they would question people at their houses, their speech was like a tape playing in slow motion. The author theorized that they may have come from a different dimension, but didn’t appear at the right date in history. Read the book and you’ll understand.

Native Americans often taught the younger generations of the importance of being in harmony with the natural world to ensure that the balance between what man takes and what nature gives back to us stays in balance in order to maintain the natural order of things.
It's too bad that when Europeans (white men) first immigrated to the New World from their European counterparts it's too bad that they didn't have the wisdom or the courage to be able to embrace the teachings of a people who'd been living on this continent in harmony with nature for many thousands of years, and instead, they chose to let their egos override their intellect override the will of their egos which ultimately has led all of us to experience the existential crisis of what is a human accelerated climate crisis that could very well end up leading all of us to the very brink of extinction before everything is said and done.
To boot, the same self-indulged men are the very ones who've spent millions of dollars over the last 40 years trying to convince everyone that climate change was merely a hoax to ensure that the American people continued to keep up the status quo instead of coming to the realization before it was too late that we needed to start using cleaner alternative fuel sources to heat our homes and energize our infrastructure to ensure that we didn't cause so much damage to our planet that at some point we'd end up reaching the point of no return.
    Guess what? We're there!!!

Anyone who really wants an experience then go there. People who haven’t been there shouldn’t comment !!! I went there a few years ago to check it out. According to some people and the one thing you don’t hear much about, was a collapse that revealed a door that was previously hidden. The collapse took down the door and soon after we have a “mothman”! Collapse…door falls…..Mothman? So I went there and something paranormal happened !!! We were looking for the bunkers so we could determine if there was more there that could have hidden something behind a hidden door. The gps went nuts showing we were driving back over ourselves and we finally gave up on the GPS. It was to the point I was crying and my husband had a twitch in his jaw. When we finally found a known road we were in a place we had no means of getting to from the place in that wildlife area where we were. Somehow we ended up in a different geographical area?? So go there rather than discount it !!!

What the Bigfoot Investigators won't believe is Sasquatch is not a dumb animal or primate. Sasquatch is a humanoid. They were here before the races of modern man. I've had a very close encounter with a creature similar to Sasquatch. He probably was one but he had less body hair. He was terrifying and at the same time a beautiful creature. When he heard my family arriving back at the car he disappeared. But as the car started to pull away I had a mental message from him and he warned me not to tell anyone I seen him. I totally forgot about this encounter until later in life. At that time it was early 70s and there was a report on TV and in the paper of someone who reported seeing a MOMO in Missouri. Then everything came back to me of my encounter.
